Crunchyroll is available now on the new release of Google TV
|
Probably 480p, but if their Roku support is any indication, I would not expect 720p anytime soon, given that there are almost certainly more Roku devices currently in the field than Google TV. The best hope for 720p is if the Google TV app is just a wrapper for their standard Flash stream, in which case 720p video would be "baked in". Since Moxxmix (see earlier message) appears to actually have a Google TV, you may want to ask him directly if he can view the titles in 720p. |

SO! I just bought a Sony blu ray player 6 months ago, I can get Netflix, Flikster, Hulu, (and who the hell pays for hulu,) Pandora, and a dozen other random little networks no-one ever watches, I can even get the *gasp* Michael Jackson tribute channel! But I have to buy a fucking new machine to get this GoogleTV? Thank you but no thank you.
Will Xbox be getting it? Hell no! They are planning to roll out their own internet TV network to COMPETE with GoogleTV, why the hell would they have it? My stance remains as it always has, bring CR to my tv in a way that doesn't involve buying ANOTHER money sucking, power sucking, heat producing "box" and adding it to my already over crowded entertainment center, and I'll be on board, in fact "hint hint" I'd be willing to pay a few extra bucks a month for it. If not, bite me. |

Don't ask me for a free pass, get a job loser.

@bluerunner:
Google.tv isn't a network like Netflix or Hulu, it's a device like an XBox. So it doesn't make any sense to ask when XBox or whatever will be getting it; it would be like asking when your XBox will be getting a Playstation 3. You can get either a standalone box to hook up to your TV, or get a Sony TV with all the electronics built in (vaguely like a 46" Android phone, except without the phone part), but either way it -also- allows you to connect to all these myriad networks like Netflix, along with just straight up web browsing (eg: YouTube). @youngmug/TheAncientOne: I did some comparison of the app vs the browser version using the first episode of Blue Exorcist, primarily at 1:42 using the text and Aniplex logo. (Playback worked 2 out of 3 tries.) Using the web version, 720p was crisp and clear, with only a faint amount of ringing on the text. At 480p the logo was slightly blurry, with one level of ringing around the text. At SD there was noticeable aliasing on the Aniplex logo, and multiple levels of ringing on the text. Using the app, it most closely matched the SD resolution results, so I have to guess that that's the version that's playing. The app settings do not have any way to select the playback resolution. Given the horrible video quality of Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere (as noted in my previous post), it would appear to be stuck at SD resolution. Since I can play back the 480p and 720p versions using the built-in browser, the browser version playback -always- works, and the app doesn't have access to the 'current'/queue/favorites/etc, I really see no reason whatsoever to use the app. |

Thanks, is someone working on fixing the app. If it doesn't get HD resolution no point on getting a subscription again.

DarkOne wrote: Ya, I aint much of an fan for anime on phone, I'm more of an fan on tv, netflick, or log on on my computer to watch it. Now, I've got a Roku so I don't need it, but hopefully they hammer out the wrinkles and the app makes for a good user experience. HD would seem to be a must, most of the TV's that people would want to hook a Blu Ray player or a Logitech set-top box for would be bigger than your average laptop screen. |

LOL. You make it sound as if Netflix is the last thing to be on anything instead of the first thing. If it is a device that streams video, it is more of a surprise if it doesn't have a Netflix app. It was only recently announced that the Wii would be getting Hulu Plus, and Hulu is a much larger company with more financial resources than Crunchyroll. |

I can then, fully consolidate to watch all my HD right on my PS3. Netflix, Blu Ray, and then Crunchy Roll. Get crackin! ... Please? This. |
