The days of just playing games is over gamers, we have to be smart about things. Gaming companies have provide us with promises only meant to be broken. Gaming companies see us as "unit sold," they don't care about our opinions and feedbacks, we are paying them to create a quality game, but in the end they half-a** a game and throw you some DLC.

Will be updating regularly with REAL GAMING NEWS: Game releases, the bad, and good news.

I really don't see the different between "social networking" and gaming, both similar ideas: communicate and interact with people is one of them.

There's always been a mix of good and bad news in the video game world. There was good as well as bad news back when I was a new fan in 1988, and it's still true today.

Things I've learned about the gaming business include...

* The business changes. Today's trends can become yesterday's news very quickly.
* It's not easy to tell what people are willing to buy. Game companies have spent fortunes on unprofitable games, and small amounts on unexpected successes.
* Buy specific games which you expect to enjoy while they're still at full price. Otherwise, they might be out of print in a few months.
* Likewise, buy games of genres and styles you like. Otherwise, that genre/style might be considered unpopular and unprofitable in a few months.

Boo-hoo, who cares. Really, this shouldn't be taken that seriously.
I have great support from the companies I purchase from, and also have had no problems whatsoever.
Sucks for them.

I think it's both the developers AND the gamers fault that things are they way they are today.

Gamers are spoiled little kids who think it's their god given right to be given everything for free or a few dollars.

Companies are thinking gamers are nothing more than fodder and cycle through them like laundry. Just look at the F2P MMOs as well as some of the larger game makers today.

The door swings both ways. It's not just the industry but the players within it as well.
Posted 11/15/11
As one who has been gaming since the Atari 2600 days, I don't agree the door swings both ways.

Every console has consisted of 80% shovelware, titles purposely burned to get fast money. Some feel this is a necessary evil to fund larger projects, but it's a false sense of security because a good game can sell itself. Bad games simply take victims.

Technology advances so rapidly, console makers feel its customers want the latest in order to remove graphics from "bit" processors and revolutionize in realism. Of course, this does take considerable more time to develop and that is the issue.

Imagine if you're EA, spending millions to make a new pilot in hopes to build a new franchise. What do you in between these development cycles to earn money?

The thing is: we can manage because there are other companies selling their games.

It's a statistical fact over 80% of gamers have games in their library which have never been played, or never completed.

The industry fuels itself on marketing to find the next franchise, and it stops at nothing at trying to balance itself out in exchange for revenue.

It's not a coincidence large franchises have the DLC, while smaller titles don't. Not a coincidence at all. Now, if the DLC is worthwhile, save an expansion, then no one complains.

But when we have to fork over even more money just to get what the game should have come with, well, I've no one to pity and will not cry if these companies declare bankruptcy.

If anything, Popcap has shown full well we don't need stellar graphics to play games. We want them to work and we want them to be fun.

Besides, anyone else sick of shooters yet? It's the side-scroller of this generation.

So you don't care if gaming companies take advantage of its comsumers? All these one day patches, DLCs, and constant milking of the franchise. You might not care now, companies see that as success.

I don't expect to play games for every day, and that is the exact reason I stick to PC.

It isn't just playing games every day or having a console or pc. This applies to all gamers, not just console owners.
