Han Hyo-joo in "King of Chosun" with Lee Byeong-heon
Actress Han Hyo-joo is attempting at a historical again and this time it's a movie.
Han Hyo-joo has recently confirmed to cast in the movie "King of Chosun" which is directed by Choo Chang-min from "Late Blossom". This movie is about a low class person acting as the ruler instead of the Gwanghaegun then opening his eyes to the position of a king.
Top star Lee Byeong-Heon is attempting at a historical for the first time since his debut.
Han Hyo-joo will take on the role of the queen, a strong woman who doesn't lose her elegance even though she aims for revenge at the changed kings. She has once been in the MBC drama "Dong Yi" so this isn't her first historical. However, she has gotten herself a much stronger role as a queen than Dong-yi.
Han Hyo-joo has the luck of working with two top stars continuously as she has just recently finished the movie "Only You" with So Ji-sub and now she will work with Lee Byeon-heon.
"King of Chosun" will start shooting at the start of next year and be released at the later half of next year.
Lee Byeong-Heon to star as King of Joseon
Top Korean star Lee Byeong-Heon is set to play the lead in CJ E&M Pictures'"Masquerade"(working title). Lee's management agency BH Entertainment announced that he is confirmed to star in the historical drama to be directed by Choo Chang-min ("Late Blossom") and written by Hwang Jo-yoon ("Old Boy").
At the moment, Lee is playing the role of Storm Shadow in the Hollywood productionG.I. Joe 2: Retaliation which is shooting in New Orleans. He played the same character in the 2009 film G.I Joe: the Rise of Cobra. His other credits include starring in KIM Jee-woon's "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" and "I Saw the Devil", as well as Park Chan-wook's"JSA - Joint Security Area".
With a hot fan base in Japan, Lee is due to return to Korea and prepare for a Japanese arena tour where he will meet with an estimated 60,000 fans at the end of the year.
Choo previously directed the hit comedy "Mapado: Island of Fortunes"(2004) and the romantic senior citizen drama "Late Blossom" which became a sleeper hit through word of mouth after it was released in February this year.
"Masquerade" is a sort of "The Prince and the Pauper" story where a commoner of the lowest class takes the place of the ruling monarch Gwanghaegun and comes to realize all that the position entails. The Korean title translates as "I Am a/the King of Joseon".
Lee will act in both the roles of the charismatic king and the sympathetic commoner, with a romantic connection with the queen as well.
Formerly, director Kang Woo-seok ("Silmido", "GLove") was reported to be attached to the project but Choo is now set to direct.
The film is due to start shooting early next year with a budget of US$8 million.
Lee Byeong-heon's first attempt at historical drama
Possibly will star in "I Am King Of Chosun". Top star Lee Byeong-Heon will attempt a historical drama for the first time since his debut.
Currently filming the Hollywood movie "G.I. Joe 2", it is a very likely possibility that Lee Byeong-Heon will play the lead role in "I Am King Of Chosun". He has been going through other project offers as well, but is now currently leaning towards "I Am King Of Chosun".
If Lee Byeong-Heon stars in "I Am King Of Chosun", this will be his first historical drama since his debut. "I Am King Of Chosun" is about the 15th King of Chosun, Gwanghaegun, and a low class person who looks exactly like him. If he takes the role, Lee Byeong-Heon will play two roles.
He will return once he is done with "G.I. Joe 2" and start shooting "I Am King Of Chosun" next year.

Lee Byung-hun mulling historical film role
Actor Lee Byung-hun is considering appearing in a historical film, according to his agency BH Entertainment on Friday.
"He's looking into the movie after being offered a role in it although nothing has been decided as of yet," an official at BH said of the pic tentatively named "I am the King of Joseon."
"Joseon," taking its motif from children's tale "The Prince and the Pauper," will tell of a man of low class of birth who pretends to be King Gwanghaegun, the 15th ruler of Korea's Joseon Dynasty.
"Joseon" was originally set to be famed director Kang Woo-suk's first historical pic but left the project over differences of opinion with production firm CJ E&M and was replaced by Chu Chang-min of "Mapado" (2005) and "Late Blossom" (2010).
Lee, one of Korea's most well-recognized actors and a household name in Japan as well, is currently filming the sequel to "G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra" in the United States.

I don't like this actor. I feel like frustrated anger is the only emotion he can convincingly act out, his crying and laughing and everything else isn't very good, and he lacks charisma.
