I understand that this is a site to speak about shows Ive enjoyed, but I have a question. Do you think they end shows, like 07 Ghost in such away to make it so you have to get and read the manga to get the whole story and its ending? I've noticed that it happens alot a good show will just end or jam a whole season of questions and answers at you in the last 5 min of the last show. Why?!?! If some shows can go on and on with season after season full of filler and trash, why does a show with promise and story just end?

I agree. I feel the same too. All the shows/animes that I watched always ended with the curiousity. I mean barely no ending at all and it ends just like that, hang the story unfinish. It drives me crazy. I don't why they do that to most all the shows. But I think they need more money to make or publish the next episode, who knows what they have in mind. It SUCKS!!

Entertainment industries are complex. There may be a single reason why one show, usually a good show, stops at 12-13 episodes with many unanswered questions and shows that are hammered dog shit span multiple seasons, but it's usually more complex. Some of the reasons why a good show ends prematurely:

Lack Of Budget (A) - Obvious, but sad, many great shows simple lack the initial budget for more seasons. The first season is to "test the waters" and see if the show will spark any interest in consumers. The producers then bank on DVD/Blu sales and character/cast popularity as methods to prove future seasons provided there is amply source material.

Lack Of Budget (B) - Lack of initial budget with no intention to produce anything but a 12-13 episode series and therefore they edit the bejeezus out of the manga to cram what they consider the more salient plot points into a short amount of time. This echos your point about getting people to buy the manga.

Incompetence - Shocking I know, but studio's can take great material, overcook it to the point of producing a poor adaptation and kill any future seasons due to poor initial response.

Lack Of Source Material - You may love the show, I may love the show, but maybe there just isn't enough meat on the bones to get it through more than one season ... even if there are many unanswered questions. I'm not saying that's the case for this show, btw.

Marketing - The show is interesting, intelligent and totally unmarketable. Happens.

Poor Early Ratings - As chrome_mist noted above, the ratings out of the gate on the early episodes may be poor enough that they scrap all future seasons.

Not Enough Sex Appeal - Not enough boobs, camel toe or bishie. If it isn't sexy or cute enough, you'll lose 95% of the guys with hairy backs who live in their parents basement eating nothing but crickets and lint, and that's a huge chunk of money.

Because in episode one it failed hard and just kept failing....

Because when you've watched enough anime you know if an anime is going to be good from half an episode.
