Crunchyroll Competitor
Posted 11/9/11
If Crunchyroll had a competitor(Which it does), what do you think it should have?
I'm pretty sure there where animes taken off Crunchyroll and features and applications you all wish Crunchyroll had, and if there was an alternative to Crunchyroll(Which there is),

What do you think it should have?

Are there any features you wish Crunchyroll had? Or Anime series you want to return?

Basically, just list what you want Crunchyroll to be.

I think it's sad we have to pay $60 for this site and another subscription to another site when they should just be one.

There are several sights where I can Look up Anime that CR doesn't or cant show, dont think its fair to list any on this forum, and truth be told I do get mad because i pay and still have to wait for them to show up on this site week after other sites have them. (yes starting sentence with a conjunction) BUT of all the sites I know CR is the best one to watch , it's video definition is cleaner and faster, and it sounds great on 7.1 surround. I also enjoy that this site keeps up with Movies, games, tec news. I just wish it had more variety. Lots of anime it doesnt have I guess because of copy rights.

One thing I wouldnt mind seeing, not sure if they can do, but the manga would be cool. Trying to read some now, I will admit hard for me because Im a comic book junky and manga reads all backwards to me and its hard to follow sometimes, but thats why I love the Anime!

I can't recall how many others offer quality anime videos like CR. I prefer the HD over the standard murky pictures.

It would be cool if they upped the streaming quality to unadulterated full HD in the future once it's available. And maybe offer some select 3D. Yeah I'm all for the grand experience.

Good suggestion. I would like to see a digitized area where we can read manga. I would not mind paying an additional subscription for that. Say ($20-25 USD Monthly). Nor would I mind if it was in Japanese only.

What i think would be sweet if CR had was PPV movies. I'm not sure how japan does these things but IF the movies air on TV there sell viewing rights for a day or a single viewing OVA's as well since alot of them aren't aired on CR, or have a loyalty option for subscribers that have been long time members a chance for a special option to view the added content for a premium added on to the usual subscription price.

^ i agree with him.
It would be awesome to have some anime movies available to watch as well. At least we don't get stuck with just anime.
i honestly would say, I wish there's more drama available for my region. It sucks that it's not yet.
It would also be nice if we have the forum section on our apps and whatsoever.
I'd like to see CR to be a fierce competitor for digital anime subscription, DVD sales and just be a bigger company than they already are.
It would be nice if they can have more profit from DVD sales and anime subscription as well.
Not only that, I want CR to have classics as well, besides Speed Racer and stuff.

If there is an ideal competitor, I'd be honest, I'd want it to be FUNi (they already are though).
If only FUNi would offer their titles worldwide as well (in their streaming site) and would have a large amount of movies shown.
Not only that, I'd like to see the competitor to have apps concerning anime and such.

There are only two things I'd "want" from CR:
-A system to better manage our series we have in the queue (watched, dumped, watching, queue).

-A download service. I've no need to own every title on CR, but those I really enjoy would be nice to own digitally. Owning DVDs sucks with having to store that crap.

Totally agree.

Having competitors to CR is a good thing. It encourages CR to innovate and keep prices fair. Of course, it is a (small) pain for fans to deal with multiple sites, especially if there is premium content that we want.

As for having a one-stop-anime site, I think that's less important, especially since things like the Roku will take care of a lot of that. Well, at least only for official sites.

Crunchy is a lot better then Funimation Elite service which I find slow and cluttered. I haven't really explored the Animation Network Site or Hulu, not sure of any other streaming sites out there. It would be nice to have a classic Anime section with anime like Ranma 1/2. As long as Crunchy keeps getting all this great anime I'm happy to pay my $6. My suggestions for Crunchy are; Crunchy on my PS3, stop minimizing the picture after each anime, full music section where I can purchase songs, purchase anime online, wallpapers,Crunchy store I want a T-Shirt.

Older anime would be interesting. I notice they have some older titles already like Cobra and original Gundam.

While I would love a DRM service "they could hook up with itunes or android stores to sell digitally" I still prefer hard copies over DRM. All it takes if for your account to be deleted, hacked etc and you loose all of your DRM that you have bought over those years. While It's pain to store dvd's/blruays it is more of paint to have to rebuy everything from a DRM account.

On what I want cr to do.. well just keep up decent work and let the subscribers have more of a voice in the simulcast line up and better buffer rates "not a constant stream you buffer once and can watch with out interruption".

Cecilthedarkknight234 While I would love a DRM service...

I said download service, though perhaps I should have said with no DRM. FUNimation had one and, because of the DRM, I bought none of them.
