That's what I'm talking about. Your reason for not liking rap is because you like metal? Rofl.

No, you don't seem to understand whatsoever. It's not a good reason. How do you explain people who like both genres? Just because you like metal, something doesn't click in your head saying "oh, I like metal, I guess I hate rap LOL".

Yes I do. The majority of the music I listen to is either Rap or Hip Hop. Talib Kweli and Lauryn Hill are two of my favorites, mostly because their music is thought provoking and deep. I can't stand the mainstream crap they play now.

Old school rap by Eminem and Snoop Doggy Dogg is where it's at. None of there new stuff though that stuff is horrible, but I guess that's where the money is... If there's money involved I don't think they really care what other people think so long as the majority buys their rushed tracks haha.

going to put something a friend said to me when our little "Crew" was going through a Thrash metal punk phase, "To understand a good song one must know a good beat" and that is the reason i like rap but good beat and good song are based on opinions. Say a good rap song to me is something like early 90s havoc and prod South central cartel where as a lot of people dislike them lol.

In my opinion, rap/hip-hip lacks more creativity than any other genre of music. I see hip-hop as the equivalent of Hollywood movies today. They are just cookie cutting and releasing the same thing over and over. I like variety in my music. I need my music to have at least a few instruments to make it catchy and not just a single beat with an occasional lazy techno background. I like singing in my music, not talking. I like my music to have a deep meaning every once in a while. I need it to not be only about sex, and if you are going to rap about sex, don't just come out and say it. At least have the creative capacity to use original innuendos so it doesn't sound like every other rap song out there.

It depends really. I prefer obscure rap artists over main stream ones. Many of them come up with some nice lyrics that are out of the ordinary.

Only rap I like is Tupac.
