I really like Ukiyo-e and started practicing it this year. I also like many European artists such as Degas, Van Gogh, Monet, Goya, Greco, Picasso, Da Vinci, etc. Asian brush arts like calligraphy and ink paintings fascinate me as well.

Well, the title Asian Art has nothing to do with race other than who made it? I took Survey of Asian Art a few years ago, it was a great class. I'm not a huge fan of modern art though, no matter where it's origins are. Mostly because I don't understand it as well. I do like graffiti in some cases and some other newish forms or art.

how can you categorize art by race, thats fricken retarted, you can only categorize it by the style they make it. just because it may be different because of their experiences and influences to make the art doesnt mean that its created by the race of the artist.
and that japanese one freaks the fuck out of me

I understand what you're trying to say and I agree with you,
but DO try to think about what you type.

I think art can be categorized by both race AND style. i'm not too picky.
but there's a big question here, what TYPE of asian art?
there are subdivisions upon subdivisions not being discussed here.

let me help a bit:
*anime (that's quite obvious)
*Irezumi (traditional tattoos (EXTREMELY PAINFUL))
*Ukiyo-e (woodblock paintings)
*architecture
*sculptures
*Japanese Noritake (priceless ceramics)
*instrument making (using materials such as animal skins and special wood)
*sword making

the list goes on and on and on.... (pardon me, most of them are Japanese)

the point here being, you can't just ask "do you like asian art?"
because the answer is (or should be) infinite.
as for me? I like everything but Noritake. ask my mother about that, she's nutters about it.

cant those just be styles of art, things you mentioned such as sculptures, sword making, architechture, instrument making, and tatoos are all done by many other cultures so asian style of art may be different but it doesnt really put it into a whole different category of art.
