actually, i believe they fired timecop.

Oh that? Yeah, that was a joke on their part, but that's for another topic.

how's that even funny? maybe it's b/c i dunno who the hell timecop is?

who the fcuk is timecop? anyway, i agree that the fansubs are more competent than the official releases in DVDs by entire dimensions. The official ones really really suck. ESPECIALLY the ones that do cinema film translations. I watched DN2 and it was fcuking horrible. fansubbers rock! maybe i'll join a group after uni. i'll be working in tokyo anyway.

no ur quite wrong. different subbers have differnt styles. differerent groups suite different readers. i myself like only certain groups because i find their videos either better quality and/or i like the way they translate. not everyone translates japanese into the same english. not only this but the color fonts they use, the font itself, as well as the placing of the text are all factors. there are many factors when it comes to quality subs but eventually it all comes down to preference.

^ Agreed.

"not everyone translates japanese into the same english"

Absolutely. I'm easily amused when people mention '100% accuracy' and 'translation' in the same sentence. It's not possible as it's about context and personal decision.

Take English, for example. There's a popular British English idiom: "Gone to the dogs". This means It's all gone wrong. 100% cock-up. Completely f***ed. So, how do you translate that into a different language for an audience who might not be familiar with the idiom? If we were to translate that literally, the audience would be puzzled, as in "Gone to the dogs? Where are the dogs? I don't see any. I don't get it."

I truly like one translator's quip to someone's enquiry about translating, (paraspeaking) "10% is translating and 90% is tearing hair out while working out a dilemma."

@BillyG2093: I wish you are the first one to get SUED by the company, for piracy.
You should at least credit the fansub groups, for their hard work and effort, not just groaning for more free animes. Support the anime by buying its DVD when it gets licensed.

@fluxuationz: Agrees.
Addon: There are no right or wrong to one's Translation. Its up to one's Perspective, on how he/she look at things.

Meaning if you translated a line, and some other people also translated the same thing. Both sentence might be different in terms of length and words, but their meaning is the same. So.. its up to one's perspective on how you judge thing.

Even if the Translation is 99% Perfect, after Editing, the translation might change. It might lost its meaning. So, having good communication in a Fansub Group is very Important.

Dattebayo is fucking awesome. They've got timecop on their staff, who runs the GNAA.

Please stop saying if this group is good or bad... we don't want to judge any fansub group... just we are giving a list of Fansubs groups that we are not allowed to have in this site. End.

Welcome any CR user who want to sub any new drama.

EDIT: I don't care if you like TIMECOP

Thank you, I think we should just be greatful people take the time TO upload anime. Who cares what group uploads it, as long as we have anime.

^ Last spring Killar started up CR sub team as a trial run. I don't know how it went since then. I think it's on back burner for the time being.

Well I am not exactly sure what is going on with the project now, but I do know that some things have been subbed by/for CR. Arch Angels (Jmovie) is one of them that I can rattle off from the top of my head. At least it was done "on behalf of www.crunchyroll.com"

^ Pewee often includes a note in his uploads to show he's hardsubbed (burning subtitles to video) specifically for Crunchyroll.com It doesn't necessarily mean he's written the subs. In actual fact (as far as I know), he's never written subs from scratch.

I do know that some frequent uploaders have written subs from scratch specifically for CR yet have nothing to do with the CR sub team (before and after).

Killar is the one who subbed J-drama, Attention, Please!, for instance. I subbed a couple of mine. I think Jamehuz subbed one of his (correct me if I'm wrong). There are loads more who don't bother crediting themselves for their subs.

^^ Nahh I'm not that great at subbing. I just had to rewrite the script because it had terrible translations so I redid some stuff really quickly. Most of it was enough to understand by itself if you understood the basic storyline.

I thought that they don't want people uploading to streaming sites in general is because they don't want corporations to shut them down. A video with a lot of hits tends to draw attention. it's troublesome with them cracking down on that sort of thing.

If you wrote in better English, I may have understood what you were saying more clearly, but I think you're asking for a preference in subbers for Wangan Midnight? If so, when you upload it, put in the description "Has better subs" and the media mods will decide upon their own discretion.
