The thought has never occurred to me. I could and have had fun on dates, but there was always a reason I was there. I wanted to get to know the person. If I liked them, I wanted to see them again, and one day date them exclusively.

But I know there are people who date without the intent of ever having a boyfriend or girlfriend. That doesn't necessarily mean they're in it for sex, does it? Please enlighten me. What is the difference between dating someone for fun and hanging out with a friend or acquaintance, if any?

Dating for Fun: An attempt to promote a release of hormones (via sex or just the thrill of dating) to satisfy whatever the dater/datey wants to satisfy. Usually a one or two night occurrence, always done for selfish reasons. For men, this is observed through the physical actions of dating, however extreme it may be. For women, observations show that the stimulation comes from the words or actions, similar to the sweet whispers said to one another during the first few months of dating. While these are the generalizations for the genders, they can be applied to each gender. Each gender can also chase both sides of the spectrum simultaneously. Very dangerous to date a person in all seriousness if they show qualities like this.

Hanging with friends/acquaintances: All pressures of dating and ulterior motives are (hopefully) off the table. Usually done to get to know a person better, enjoy their company, or just have fun. BOTH PARTIES OF THE HANGOUT ASSUME THE OTHER IS NOT ROMANTICALLY INTERESTED! If one wants to keep it this way, stay the course of being a good friend, through thick and thin. If a friend does become a romantic interest, begin relations with informal hangouts, with just the two of you. Continue to get to know them, preferably (and recommended) on a deeper level, such as religious and political beliefs. This way, if you find out that you like them as a friend, but not a romantic interest or future partner, you can continue being friends, perhaps even better then you were before. If the opposite occurs, follow the regular steps of courtship.

Hope this helps!

dating includes: holding hands, kissing, ect

You could do the same things with friends but its kinda whorish soooo you get a bf/gf to do it with and only with them

Lol, not to mention the fact that holding hands/kissing friends would turn them into friends with benefits - again, two different things. Ugh, I still don't get it. DX

Yeah you could aso try holding their hands or kissing, but they would be like "wtf are u doing?"
that's why i hate casual dating and flirting without the intention of wanting to be in a relationship

If you are into it just for having fun, then you are just hanging out and are friends. If it is beyond that, then it is normal dating. Don't try to complicate it by calling it "Dating for fun". Either you are in a relationship platonically, or not. Seriously, don't over-think it. Now, to be honest, I have female friends that I hang out with, I would _LOVE_ to do all sorts of naughty things with, and I'm pretty sure they are game for it as well (they have said as much). However, I'm currently taken and won't do that until I am not taken (commitment, morality, blah, blah, blah).
Still, this doesn't stop us from hanging out and having fun. We go see movies, we watch Doctor Who and other stuff together, we crack jokes, just like friends normally would. You could try to call that dating "for fun" but it is really just being friends. Sure there are the undertones of something more, but we both know we won't go there until other things change.
Pretty simple; Friends "hang out" or have "play dates" (what are we, toddlers?), "Partners" or BF/GF-GF/GF-BF/BF-etc are more involved, even if on a mental/romantic level, or if on a physical level. So anything beyond friendship is no longer _JUST_ friendship. Dating is more than friendship. So you can't date "just for fun" unless you enjoy teasing and never committing to anything, and like being sadistic like that. It is never "just for fun" for both parties. If you try to be that way, don't be surprised if somebody ends up hurt (most likely emotionally).

i think dates in general are retarded, going in with the mindset its a date is boring,i rather just treat it crazy casual and just ask her to hang or chill.

labeling it only makes it worse, in my opinion you just have to make your intentions clear to the point you're not stuck being a best friend or something gay like that.

Hmm. To me dating has always been with the intent to get to know a person better and see how compatible each other is to one another. Of course having fun is also the main stay for dating as a whole. Casual dating? I think most should, to see what variety is out there, rather than settle for one and risk it ending up badly.

Dating leads to an eventual relationship, it's just a matter of which one jumps out best to you.

I'm too serious to take dating as a "recreational activity" I'm all about devoting myself to someone i care deeply about, prior to developing those feelings with someone i hardly know, but am only attracted to physically....That's too much of a gamble for me, but maybe as an adult, I'll feel differently.
