I don't know but I prefer classical music without lyrics.

It helps me relax. It helps me draw. It motivates me when I'm working out. It makes for good atmosphere when conversing with friends. Adds life to a party. I could go on and on...

I know cats like high music notes because it makes their ear hairs tickle.

Read the short non-rhyming poem on my page

Music has saved me quite literally through a lot,
Music has a way of touching people other things just can't.
Where language is usually a barrier, music can speak to anyone.
Music is a way of healing for me
It has, and always will be, an important coping tool in my life.

It can teach you things. And it can soothe you or excite you or make you afraid. It is a very powerful thing. It can make people unite.

This. A lot. +1 to all.

I find part of the "barrier" with language (inability to explore another's culture or relate to anybody else abroad) is really broken down with music. People throughout the world might have different practices, beliefs, and expressions, but music is (almost) universally an artistic way of communicating what we are. It's easy to understand and very accessible.

Almost allows each and every one of us to be an explorer and diplomat just at the click of a "play" button.

Nice! I like that too. Classical remixes are a favorite for me, but I like the originals as well (though I am by no means a hardcore listener).

I think part of the reason we so like music is that it plays to both parts of our minds at the same time. The tone or atmosphere of the music draws on our creative and emotional side, while the rhythm, chords, patterns and lyrics work with our reasoning side of our brain.

I like music because I'm able to relate to what the artists is singing about. Whenever I'm unsure about my emotions and thoughts, I listen to music to help sort things out. Also I just love listening to it to help me clear out my mind

it inspires me in ever possible way, i'm very addicted to music actually. I couldn't be found without an mp3 player ipod, iPhone somewhere next to me or within my reach playing.
when the Walkman was invented i had one.cd player had that too. md player tried to buy one. waited for the mp3 players.
music moves the human soul i feeds the longing in the soul. when words begin to falter to express the moments in our lives, that single event, when we have those few seconds which we cherish, and there is nothing one can say or do to express that profound moment. music takes over, and expresses the things we can't.. in songs we find that the lyrics become only words without the music.
it is a language felt, and breaks the language barriers. for it is the language of the human soul.
