Do you consider yourself an anime critic?

There's a total double standard from what I've seen too. Sure it's okay to criticize the original work but when you start to deride the ones who do the parody. Whoa, they get all bent out of shape, if that is what you're talking about.

Just noticed ur name properly for the first time.

I was reading Koo-feerst. :l

and den found out it was KUFirst. :l

Yep, I've been using this name since AIM was huge here in the States a while back, so almost 10 years... wow. But yes, KUFirst or KUfirst is the proper way to denote my username, heh.

Just out of curiosity, how was it decided that this particular review became a laughingstock among anime critics?

The gist of the situation is that the review gave the show a relatively low mark by addressing aspects completely unrelated to the actual quality such as the intended audience, change in directors, and other bits of useless trivia. Amongst a good 95% of the people I've seen talk about and discuss this with, even those who gave the anime in question a low mark themselves agreed it was less of a critique and more of a rant.

However shortsighted statements aside I stand by what I said: criticizing something for what it is instead of how well it does it is something that some people actually embrace under the guise of inciting a debate.

Most of the reviews I've read of his I've been able to relate very well to what he was talking about, though I will be interested to see if he gets to write the review for Madoka.

I always thought it was read as Q-first until now.
I don't even know why.

It's all good. Considering how vague it looks, it tells you exactly where I live, haha.

no, im a really big fan of it, even though i do have opinions and i read alot about all the rating etc etc, but i find tons of people on here try to act way to criticy and think they have the answers to everything and only there opinion is valid because they've watched a 100 episodes of an anime they dont like, its really annoying...

I consider myself a fan... totally. Although, that still doesn't stop me from bring critical against the anime shows I watch. If it's something I enjoy greatly, I tend to verge more towards the "fan" side of the spectrum, while if it's something that I don't necessarily enjoy, I bump right back over to the "critic" side of the spectrum. All in all, It's hard for me to be critical of something I highly enjoy.

I tend to discuss shows I like waaay more than I discuss shows that I don't really have a good opinion on. Discussing anime's (either online or with my real life friends) introduces more enjoyment and excitement for the anime, rather than complaining or critiquing on a show I don't like.

I think both situations are problematic, but to be honest, I think the latter is most irking and troublesome. If nobody posts a biased comment about their opinion on an anime they just watched, the thread is going to be filled with a one sided agreement! Instead of having lots of different debates on the community's opinions, there's just going to be a bunch of posts about either how great it was, how terrible it was, or any other topic.
