I want to get in and say something before this thread gets too long.

If you're a bigot or hate homosexuals/bisexuals/homosexuality (for whatever poorly justified reason), then don't post your hate here. Stay out of this thread thankyou. :)

On topic:

It really is a case by case scenario. The individual knows their family better than outsiders. There's no shame in being who you are, but then if you know you're just going to be abused for coming out to crazy parents, then don't. Wait until you're an adult, and tell them when you're comfortable and in control of your life.

Tell them straight and hope they are open-minded enough.

I am asexual. How would that come across?

I know a few asexual people. It's not really that strange or anything, they'd probably be ok with it.

I told my mom I was bi (dating a guy) via text message a couple years back, just days before xmas. XD

Course she didn't take it well, but seeing as I honestly don't seek anyone's approval -and she knows that- she's sort of come to terms with it. I just wish she wasn't so old-fashioned. One time while talking about our relationship she even asked me "So who's the woman?"

Bi.

I came out to my dad like it was nothing, and he responded like it was nothing, which it is. Or isn't? It's nothing.
I told my mom in an email because I was too afraid to say it to her face. She responded by changing the password for my email account (she'd set that one up when I was a kid and I'd never changed addresses,) so I just made another. One day, months later, I randomly asked her if she would let me have my password just to see what she'd say. She refused. Mature.

Anyway, they both know, and my mom is still kinda in denial. We just don't talk about it. Sucks, but I hate talking to her about personal shit either way. I just like having my options open.

My cousins, brother, and aunt on my dad's side know..the rest, not really. I haven't got much else as far as my immediate family is concerned.
It's never come up and I really don't wanna hear a bunch of old people tell me how I can get that fixed.

It's nothing to be ashamed of. I understand you want your family's approval, but if they don't support you, then they aren't very good family. What I did when I told my mom I was bi -- I'm totally lesbian now -- was show her an article I saw in a magizine, then work my way into telling her from there.

So I suggest looking up an article online or in a magizine you have that involves bisexualism or homosexualism and call them in. If they ask why you're on that, say you stumbled across it, but it reminded you that you wanted to tell them something.

Don't panic if they don't accept. There are many homophobes. Trust me, I know. My closest friend's mom hates me immensely because of how I am. It'll always be a challenge for people like us. Just don't let those people discourage you. Do what makes you happy, and makes your life worth living. It'll pay off, trust me.

Hope I could be of assisstance!

And i've seen mothers and fathers rib cages because they give all the food to the children.
