He left. He's now around the orbit of Earth inside the Scientology spaceship.

would you like others outside of you and your family to care?

first step is to take the first step. When we act out in love for the sake of love itself, then others will follow.

best of luck!

Nope as of now. Perhaps in the near future. Can't say much about it since it is unpredictable.

Extinction of the species... well not in unless some people's prediction of the green flouride sky come true.

Catastrophic Collapse of economy and current status quo + calamitously fucked up weather?

I see the first stages of THAT happening already

I don't think so. Why is it so trendy to think like this? It's so lame.

I agree with you 100%. Humans are very resilient. When something huge hits the fan I think a lot of people are gonna be shocked at how unified we will be. That is just me though.

Well I'm continually amazed that we stayed alive this long. Considering how stupid and blatantly evil people can be, I have trouble understanding how we got this stupid lucky so far. No idea how far away our doom actually is, but its definitely coming, its just a matter of when and who actually does us in. Quite possibly we will end up destroying ourselves before anyone else gets around to it, but hard to say as we seem to have a bizarre knack for surviving despite ourselves.

I suppose I should say that not all people are like this, but it only takes one bomb in a box of apples to cause mass destruction (or some other ridiculous analogy)

Our closest relatives were the neanderthals before they became extinct 35 000 years ago. It's theorised they were first weakened during the ice age (suggested by work on bones from different dates), and then mysteriously became extinct. We are 99.5% identicle to neanderthals, and we can only make predictions of what might kill us, but is prediction enough if humans are lazy?

You spoke quite rightly about how unified we can be against maybe big potential danger, yet i believe our biggest threat are germs and viruses. Especially extensive drug resistant TB, coupled with HIV which will be a top 10 killer by 2030, can kill a human in upwards of 8 days, and it's contagious. Current treatment for extensive resistant TB is 30 pills/drugs a day for 2 years, with about 30% of being successfully treated. Unfortunatly there are only 6 new TB drugs being researched, compared to like 30 new drugs for other diseases. Governments can't do anything about this, since pharmaceuticals don't want to waste money on a disease which makes no money, and so no one is willing to tackle this well documented future problem.

We are not on the verge of extinction, atleast not compared to the rate of other endangered animals we are killing ; ;. But i can't think of a more deserving species for extinction than us.

1st off Neanderthals were Neanderthals, from them we have become much more advanced technologically, mentally, and our bodies are actually more resilient now (disease wise).

As for viruses wiping us out. We have LOTS of countermeasures in place for that kind of thing. We could easily squash out an outbreak before it spread. Even if it does spread, we would not become extinct. The plague wiped out 1/3 people in Europe and they got through it. There is always going to be some genetic mutation that would make at least some people resistant to it. The only good thing about those pharmaceutical companies is that when an outbreak happens, they can use their money to isolate scientists to work on a cure. After all, if the world is going to be wiped how would they make their money? lol
.
Yes we are wiping out animals to extinction but by that same token there are many good people working to stop that. As for deserving it I disagree. Countries and corporations are largely assholes but people themselves usually have some very good and nice qualities to them. It is all about where you look. Focus on the crappy side of people and people will all look crappy. That's my two cents.

Eh, I believe we are, but I choose to not care and continue with my current life.

Nope, since we are pretty much unbeatable. Unless the sun explodes or something, I'm sure we'll be around for a veeeery long time. *touch wood*
