What if like for just one year we all just got together with our loved ones and just appreciated each other's existence and praised Jesus's birth? We forget all about presents and just spent the day talking about how much we appreciate each other and actually thinking about Christ.

So far I've only bought for teh boyfriend..one of those giant pencils, a chocolate bar that tells him not to eat it (just to see if he does..$6 on a practical joke, smh,) and a notepad with pictures of different monuments all around the world printed on the pages. I have to get off this notebook hype and be more creative instead of sticking with what I know -_-"

easy because jesus wasn't born in the winter and originially christmas was a pagan holiday that had nothing to do with christ. hence why in old biblical songs (ex. Oh Holy Night) you never hear them say christmas and why in modern christmas songs you dont hear them reference christ (ex. Jingle Bells, anything put out by a pop artist, White Christmas, etc.)

My situation exactly!
My family doesn't do any of the Christmas traditions. And while my small group of friends may be close, we don't exchange gifts. I do feel bad sometimes when I see how stressed other people get when this season comes around =/
Meanwhile, I'm just kickin back enjoying my favourite weather.

Atheist here, no idea what you're talking about so excuse my ignorance. Now why do we treat it so materialistically?

I only buy presents for close friends and immediate family members. I don't have so much money to spend. So yea.... gotta keep the list of people small.

Because your an Atheist you dont know? ok well not sure how to respond to such a stupid comment, but i will try. We treat it so "materiallisticaly" - hahaha because that's what its truely about its not about christ or christianity for that matter its simply about giving your loved ones gifts and since most ppl nowadays generally dont want just a hug or arts and craft project as a gift we buy shit instead.

I take advantage of boxing day discounts. Don't have a celebration or sit down or exchange presies but I love getting quality stuff for cheaper. I also celebrate the end of the financial year.

Granted I won't buy something every time, nonetheless you or I would be fools not to take advantage. Give me a presie if you want, you have my thanks. I'll try to scrape something up for you.
