Hearing the english dub I would tend to agree, ten minutes had me convinced that this is one of the best dubs out there. Maybe that is what happens when you throw money and talent into the same project...now if only 95% of all other anime would not completely suck as a dub production we could be in business. Japanese voice acting is very good, something about it is just intangibly great

This is probably coming from people who look at 'Naruto' and 'Bleach' like it's a work of art....

Indeed.

I loved this movie when I was a kid. I say jump on amazon and buy it for cheap. This is a timeless classic that should be added to everyones collection.

No need. Eastern Star just re-released it on DVD. Anyone can pick it up real cheap at Rightstuf.com

This was a fantastic kid's movie from back in the day. Waste of resources? Ridiculous - it's a fantastic piece of animation, and the video game which was based on this movie for the classic NES was highly celebrated as well. Animation with shading of this caliber doesn't even exist anymore. A great film

That game was so weird and odd and just bizarre. Never was able to beat it though as a kid.

It took me from 4PM to just now to watch it cause of the constant buffering. My internet speed has been real crappy as of the past couple days. -___-

It was pretty good though might watch it again when my internet isn't being a piece of trash. xD

I think I'm having the same problem as Tsubasa_Lover_4Ever. So I won't start it at 2am. Missed it the first time around, (1989) but it clearly has the right "pedigree" for a fun anime that I can recommend to some friends, even the ones with children.

I've only seen this once, after playing in the ballroom at the Ikea kids center in the 90's. I had wondered why I never saw Disney advertisements about it, and had completely forgotten it's name until now. Turns out it's made in Japan, that would probably be why I never heard anything about it for years.

Thanks for revisiting my distant childhood past, CR. Now that I know the movie's origin, I think it makes it's place to the first Japanese animation I have ever seen, before Totoro or Princess mononoke, both which I saw when I was very young.

Amazing, just thinking that I marveled at this movie before a majority of CR members were even born. This thread seems to be an exception though

How the hell did you come up with that number? If you don't mind could you show your math? Show some hard evidence that 95% of dubs in anime actually suck. And don't show a couple of posts or articles written by in-raged anime fans either. Show actual proof, because from where I'm standing it looks like you pulled some arbitrary numbers out of your ass.

Certainly no reason to question your sense of aesthetics. I guess the movie was just too complicated for you. Maybe if it was as poorly drawn as 'Naruto' and 'Bleach' are and contain nothing, but brainless fighting and flashing lights you would have loved it. Oh and I'm also guessing the fact that it's in English also effects your decision as well.

This was both my favorite and also the first anime movie I ever saw when I was a kid. This was back when I thought all tv shows were made in America. Thinking about it now I feel old.
