So what happened between Sentai and CR? I sure don't want Funico to grab gazillion of titles come Summer 2012.

I'm not sure that what happened with Phi Brain was an issue between Sentai and CR. It appears that the following new titles may be sublicenses from Sentai:

Kids on the Slope
Mysterious Girlfriend X
Medaka Box
Queens Blade Rebellion

I wouldn't be surprised if Sentai announces Dusk Maiden of Amnesia soon, given the similarity in the format of its simulcast to Medaka and Queens Blade. I would say that they're relationship is still going strong, and that they will continue to use CR to simulcast their new titles.

On another note, the funico simulcasts have been removed from niconico.com, leaving the 6 summer series, BRS, Milky Holmes, and Symphogear. I believe that this means that the last episode of Future Diary was available for less than 18 hours on niconico.com (I noticed the disappearance early this morning). Personally, I find this very annoying, since the niconico player seems to work better than funimation's, and I no longer have any reason to finish Guilty Crown without the comments. Interestingly, the three winter series left at niconico are also available to watch at funimation's website, though I don't think that funimation has ever announced them.

All in all, the relationship between Sentai and CR seems much more stable than the Funico partnership.

Any idea when Funi might start simulcasting the other Spring series besides the Lupin? I realized there would be a delay, but I thought one or two others would have started by now.

Niconico's anime section looks like it will be updated sometime today or later this week, They removed some of the already finished series, Guilty Crown, High School DxD, Last Exile, from their Currently Ongoing list with only Black Rock Shooter, Detective Milky Holmes 2, and Symphogear remaining. They removed Future Diary/Mirai Nikki as well, though the series only ended a few days ago.

Funimation and/or Niconico are about 2 episodes behind on Kore wa zombie desuka? of the dead, Sankarea, and Jormungand.

Thats sucks niconico streams where unprotected so I could download them to watch on my phone and could also hook it up to with hdmi to watch on a bigger screen. The quality was also high enough to still look good and my phone could still play it back smoothly even in high action scenes. At least milky Holmes is still up so I can grab the last 2 episodes.

Sentai has licensed Tsuritama. I'm assuming like Kids On the Slope that it will stream on TAN and Hulu a month after Crunchyroll.

I would also guess that. Tomorrow, Sentai will probably announce Dusk Maiden of Amnesia as their next license. And hopefully Friday brings news of something that hasn't been announced yet like Natsuiro Kiseki, Eureka Seven AO or Hyouka.

I would also welcome news of Funico not working out, and I have to wonder if Kadokawa got angry with Funimation over the BDs to Strike Witches 2 and Heaven's Lost Property: Forte and if they are really doing a new Blu-Ray restriction policy.

I really hate how niconico just removed some of their titles without any warning.

The first two episodes of season 2 of Phi-Brain are now up on Crunchyroll. Hopefully they won't disappear.

I think pulling the first ep was probably due to a snafu with the licencing. If not, Phi Brain is also on TAN.

Pulling it down once because of a licensing snafu would not be surprising. It would, however, be very odd if they had to pull it down twice ~ normally you'd go over the contract with a fine tooth comb to make sure nothing else would come up.

Production problems can delay streams, but they don't force a site to take the series page down.

^ Sentai is on quite a roll aren't they? I swear they are going to get a lot of money from me in the next 6 months to a year from now(I am already planning on buying Fate Stay Night: UBW, K-On season 2, TWGOK 2 and I know I want to buy a few of their Winter simulcasts too)

I find it a little odd that while some focus on a few titles being delaycasted and one simulcast being the censored version rather than a simulcast of the uncensored narrowcast, nobody is talking about the awesomeness of "Worldwide Outside of Japan for Premium Members" on quite a few new TV Tokyo titles and how it seems that Premium Members in Spanish America have at least half of the new simulcasts and are getting quite a few of the continuing series too. I would expect that Crunchyroll will keep expanding the awesomeness to more regions.

Oh, and I am watching 8.1 series this season(.1 means the Yurumate3Dei short). And I am really enjoying the season so far.

Because it's TVTokyo so it's expected. They just have a lot of titles that are shown in their station this season so this may not be consistent. Problem is with the other publishers. When will they open to other regions? The number of "worldwide outside Japan on premium" titles will be limited by the titles that air on TVTokyo. See next Summer/Fall season and available titles will go back to 0 or 1.

Except before, TVTokyo were Worldwide outside Asia, not Worldwide outside Japan ~ so that was not expected ~ it was a surprise.
.
And Fall2011 and before, Sentai were North America only, not North America, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, South Africa, and sometimes South America. Instead of falling back after Winter2012, that trend just kept on going.

And the North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland and South Africa series from Sentai is a FujiTV noitaminA series, when a year ago noitaminA was expected to be North America only streaming from Funimation.

TV Tokyo always has a lot of titles shown on their station. They have been the lead broadcaster in a lot of production committees for quite a long time. Crunchyroll didn't always get so many of these series, but there is no reason to thing that its going to drop down.

Problem is with the other publishers. When will they open to other regions?

They are also opening more to other regions than before, though. Northern Europe got 7 series aside from the TV Tokyo ones. South America got 5. The Middle East got 3.

There's an old saying in the entertainment industry ~ money talks, and BS walks. As Crunchyroll earns more royalties, the difference in money between North America only and all the countries that a particular stream licensor can put in a single contract gets bigger, and more publishers are signing for wider regions.

The number of "worldwide outside Japan on premium" titles will be limited by the titles that air on TVTokyo. See next Summer/Fall season and available titles will go back to 0 or 1.

If nothing happens except TV Tokyo keeping on giving worldwide outside of Japan in production committees where its the lead broadcaster ... that is guaranteed to be a lot more than 0 or 1 per season.

But as results come in, we are likely to see publishers other than TV Tokyo doing the same thing by Spring 2013, if we don't see it in Summer or Winter coming up.
