SBS TV series "Deep Rooted Tree" in plans for a 2nd season
Korean production company iHQ has plans for a second season of SBS' historical TV series "Deep Rooted Tree."
An official with iHQ told 10Asia on Thursday, "The production staff has brought up the idea of a new season because 'Tree' has been received favorably by the audience."
However, the official explained that they have yet to discuss the new season with the writers of "Tree" and that nothing has been settled.
"We have planned out the measures necessary in producing the second season but it will depend on whether scenarists Kim Young-hyun and Park Sang-yeon will write for the show, whether actor Han Suk-kyu will reprise his role and whether SBS will air it."
"Tree," with only two episodes left, tells the story of how King Sejong (Han) creates the Hangul language.
The show which also stars Se-gyeong and Jang Huk is currently the most-watched series on the Wednesday and Thursday primetime lineup and has maintained high ratings in the 20 percentile range.
