SHINHWA 9th ALBUM, 2008

Shinhwa will be celebrating their 10th anniversary very soon, and are preparing to release their 9th album at the end of March. Members of the longest-running group Shinhwa will also be preparing for army enlistment, and as such, members who are currently involved in their solo activities will take a break from their solo projects and reunite to release their new album.

Shinhwa will be making a grand comeback at the end of March, and start off their large-scale activities.
Because it's their last album before they enlist, so everyone's working even harder for this.

Eric's and Minwoo's parts have already been recorded at the end of last year, the other members are recording right now.

Hyesung, Junjin sign on as highest paid models with fashion brand



Shinhwa's Shin Hyesung and Junjin have been selected as the models for a fashion label that will be breaking into the China market. The two of them will be demonstrating a mix of the androgynous mannish look and the feminine look, a style that is in vogue in Europe right now.

Shin Hyesung and Junjin were selected by Yeshin as the models for their new label "mutishop'Y BY CODES-COMBINE" which will be launched in Shanghai in March. They completed their photo shoot in a studio in Gangnam on 3 January.

Due to Shinhwa's popularity in China, Shin Hyesung and Junjin's endorsement fees thus are reportedly the highest in the market.

A spokesperson from 'Y BY CODES-COMBINE' said, "As representatives of the Hallyu wave, the different personalities and overall marketability of Shin Hyesung and Junjin are very highly rated within the market, this is why we decided to sign them on. We hope to be able to tag on the huge popularity of Hyesung and Junjin in China to attract the younger consumers."

The ads featuring Hyesung and Junjin will be seen in Chinese fashion magazines, on outdoor billboards, in shopping malls and other medium. With the launch of the label in March, the two of them will also be in Shanghai at the same time for fansigning events and other promotional events.

Hyesung and Junjin both expressed, "We're really happy to be the spokespeople for the label, and we feel that all this came about because of the fans' love and support. We will work hard."

Now Hyesung has already completed the promotional activities for his 2nd solo album released last year, and is currently preparing for Shinhwa's 9th album and his 3rd solo album. Junjin has completed the filming of the Chinese drama You Are My Dream, and is also in preparation for Shinhwa's 9th album and his solo album.

Eric the fourth-dimensional leader



*this is an article from a Chinese mag called FANS, i think it's probably written by a very devoted fan and it's a really moving tribute to eric... very very well-written... *sniff* this is exactly why i love eric THIS much...

no matter what anyone says, he has got to be THE BEST leader out there...ERIC FIGHTING!*

From a street dance champion in the US to the leader of a Korean idol group, from a singer to an actor, from a Korean celebrity to a Hallyu star, every single transformation of Eric is simply amazing.

No Turning Back at 19 Years Old
From being selected by Lee Soo Man in March 1997 to his debut on 24 March 1998, Eric put in one full year of effort for his debut performance on KMTV's Show Music Tank. But Shinhwa's first album wasn't a success. Eric took on the responsbility of being the leader and big brother, and consoled the other members, "Let's put in our best efforts for the 2nd album, we will continue if we succeed and if we don't, we'll disband." He felt that he had to be strong, forgetting that he too was only 19 years old that year.

Fortunately, their efforts paid off, and they finally had a fanclub of their own - Shinhwa Changjo - and their very first award - the 1998 Mnet Award for Best Male Newcomer. Their 2nd album had succeeded.


Growing Pains
Shinhwa's success extended to their 3rd album. However, Andy returned to the US before the release of the 4th album, and with one person less, the company wanted to disband Shinhwa. The sudden change left Eric feeling lost for a moment. He thought if they made a great job of the 4th album, the company might be willing to give in to them.

But even their passion and results didn't make the company change its mind. Finally, that led to the unforgettable guerilla concert. Then, Eric finally caved in and knelt on the ground. Having bet everything he had on it, he lost the strength to stand. That was the first and last time that we've seen such a helpless Eric.


Leading The Escape
In 2003, Shinhwa refused to extend the contract with SM, which was undoubtedly a shock in the industry. So far no artiste had ever dared to offend the big boss of the Korean entertainment industry, and they were the first.

After the guerilla concert, Eric had his own plans, and Shinhwa left SM among much controversy. Eric was the one who negotiated with the management, and forking out his own funds to buy Shinhwa out. No one will ever know how much hardship he had to endure during the negotiations.

But there was still more trouble to deal with. On 20th September 2004, a reporter openly asked at Shinhwa's 7th album showcase, "What does Shinhwa have to offer to be able to release their 7th album?" and proceeded to slam Shinhwa with ruthless criticism, leading to a big media frenzy. It was then that Eric stepped up once again as the leader to speak out, and he published his rebuttal on the Internet, with the now-famous quote, "It's not so easy to see Shinhwa. If there's anything, you can look for me."

On 9 January 2006, there was a video of Eric and two other members mimicking the intellectually-challenged posted online with the header "Eric's a goner this time". Eric dealt firmly with the media's relentless questioning. In an apology letter which he published online he apologised for the thoughtless behaviour that he and his two younger brothers displayed in the video. What could have been a huge PR crisis for them, Eric resolved it with his firm and sincere actions. The helpless Eric of yesterday who knelt on the ground covering his face was gone - there's now only the Eric who says with conviction "We will put in our best efforts".


The Peculiar Fourth Dimension
He'd catch a mosquito and asked why it was so ugly; he ran away to Jejudo alone because he couldn't come to terms with his sudden popularity; he got lost on the way to Dongwan's birthday party; he'd confide in a dead ant; he spoke of making a pot of Hye-Wan soup....this is the fourth dimension of a man who's cool, calm and confident. To many, he is the leader of Shinhwa, gentlemanly, attractive, usually quiet, and sometimes shy.

To Shinhwa, there is only one Eric.

We have had many inquires from overseas, especially China, for SHINHWA concert in March, which has already been reported by some medias and interviews.
Surprisingly, we heard that the tickets are already sold in China.
Since overview of the concert, such as the date, the venue and the ticket price, has not been officially announced, selling and booking of the ticket could be fraud. Please be careful.

The information about tickets of the concert will be released on the SHINHWA official website in January.

Idol group members head towards the big 3-O

*in korea you're considered as 1 year old the moment you're born, that's why korean ages are 1 year more than the conventional western way of calculating ages

For Shinhwa members Eric, Lee Minwoo, Kim Dongwan and Shin Hyesung born in 1979 who belong to the Year of the Goat, 2008 will be a meaningful year for them. This spring, they will be the first Korean group, who hasn't split or changed members, to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

Eric, Lee Minwoo, Kim Dongwan and Shin Hyesung - who hit 30 this year - together with Junjin and Andy, made their debut 10 years ago with a different approach of being friendly and personable, instead of the conventional "mysterious" approach towards the fans. Thus, at their recent concerts, it wasn't hard at all to see their great interaction skills with the fans.

As the members turn 30, they are more focused on developing their own strengths while working on Shinhwa activities.. Eric and Kim Dongwan will concentrate more on acting acvities, while Shin Hyesyng and Lee Minwoo, who are also well-loved for their solo work, will continue working hard in their respective ballad and pop dance genres.

Shinhwa Holding Large Overseas Concert



6 member group Shinhwa will hold a large scale Asia Concert to end 9 years of activities.
Shinhwa will stage 2 days concert on 8th and 9th December, in Japan Saitama follow by a concert in China, shanghai ,which date is to be confirm

A concert spokeman “this is the members last concert before enlistment. It will be held in Japan and China and will be a large scale concert to meet the oversea fans. The members also will show off new dances”

For this concert, Shinwha will sing 3 new songs that has yet to be release. the 3 songs will be record in their 10 album which will be release in March 2008

Shinhwa debuted in 1998 and is the longest boyband running.

Eric, Dongwan, Junjin, Minwoo and Andy will enlist in 2008.

They will release an album to celebrate their 10th anniversary before enlisting.

Eric’s loyalty saved Shinhwa


During OBS’s Watch Show and Watch movie, Kim Dong Wan stated Shinhwa was able to stay together for a decade while other idol groups have disbanded and moved on, because the six gents tried so hard to save the group. Specifically, when Eric was offered a huge contract after he rose to fame, he did not sign it because he wanted to keep the group together.

Kim Dong Wan also expressed his appreciation for SM training days during the interview. He said that as a SM trainee, he learned not only the necessary star skills, but also the persistence and the attitude needed to succeed.

Jun Jin wants to be your stylist

Shinhwa member Jun Jin started an e-commerce site called docovo, following the lead of other celebrities who are using their fame to sell clothes. Although many star CEOs have failed in the past, Jun Jin is confident that he will succeed since he’s actively involved in every aspect of the business.

Shinhwa hearts the Wondergirls


The longest running boyband Shinhwa adores one of the youngest girlgroup, Wondergirls. When Eric was asked to name his favorite hoobae, he eagerly answered Dumpling Sohee. After the “Tell Me” sensation, everybody is in love with Sohee, forgetting that she just graduated middle school.

Year 1 (1998) – The birth of a New Legend

Hyesung: "The first album title song "Hye Gyul Sa" didn’t receive any reception due to the IMF in the Korean economy.

Hyesung: So we changed the song to "Eusha Eusha".
It was a song about having fun at the beach and playing with water.
But right at the time there was flooding and disasters with water problems...
in that situation would a song about having fun with water do?"

Hyesung: 1998 was the most difficult time in which Shinhwa struggled in.
Everyday, we were busily taking part in all sorts of programs and almost didn’t have time to eat or sleep.
This type of intensity was difficult to even a superior singer, let alone the fact that we were just beginners. There were programs everyday.
While we were busy promoting our first album, we were awaiting for a breakthrough in our responses.
However, there was none, so we suffered a huge setback.

SM entertainment : Shinhwa was a late developer, so there wasn’t any special attention paid to them as we were focusing on H.O.T. They suffered a lot during the first album.

Minwoo: We each did a great job on the first album but the result really shocked us.
I thought our luck would always stay with us but the albums didn’t sell well.

Hyesung: The company decided to split the group up if the second album couldn’t get the results that they wanted.
The Shinhwa members made an agreement, "If the 2nd album doesn't work too,
lets cleanly finish it there and study hard at school and be successful through that."

Year 2 (1999) – LEGEND in the Making

Hyesung: The lucky thing was that the second album was a big success and T.O.P managed to fight it’s way to the top on music shows.

Eric: Usually singers will cry when they get no. 1 spot for the first time..
but in our case, we were really calm when we won..
our friends, seniors, families who watched the show asked us ‘you just got the first spot, why are you not happy?’
but at that time, we were too happy that we just stood still.. after the show ended, after we got into the car and left..
one by one, our members started to cry in the car.. we took out our cell phones and
called our trainers and teachers said ‘we finally got the first spot, thank you for your training.’
One person, 2 persons, 3 persons cried.. Hyesung, Minwoo, and I..
at the end, everyone cried together.. we cried for the difficult times that we had to go through..

Year 3 (2000) – The LEGEND is begun

Eric: I, Eric, promise to love each and every one in Shinhwa Changjo forever. My heart is always with you.
Hyesung: I, Shin Hyesung, promise to sing for each and every one in Shinhwa Changjo. Every song that I sing, I’ll only sing for you.
Dongwan: I, Kim Dongwan, promise to only see Shinhwa members and Shinhwa Changjo. I will only walk on this road forever.
Junjin: I, Junjin, promise to love Shinhwa Changjo forever. In the future, I will only see Shinhwa Changjo.
Minwoo: I, Lee Minwoo, promise to forever love Shinhwa Changjo. Every time I dance, I’ll only dance for you.
Andy: I, Andy, promise to always be the same to Shinhwa Changjo’s heart. I’ll keep this promise until I’m old.
Hyesung: We just said our promise, the engagement ceremony with Shinhwa Changjo.
So in the next concert, we’ll do our marriage ceremony.
Minwoo: Without Shinhwa Changjo, we are nothing.

Shinhwa: 6 is just a number without any special meaning..
but to us, 6 represents SHINHWA.. all the waiting.. all the hardship..
it wasn’t a waste.. we’ve made it..


Year 4 (2001) – 1st Quest for the LEGEND

Eric: During Shinhwa’s 4th album activities, andy left the group because of school problems and his personal situation..
that was the worst crisis of shinhwa ever faced..

Minwoo: The guerilla concert was the most cool.

Minwoo: jinnie, dongwanie, hyesungie, eric who are here, and a close friend whom we wish is here with us – our andy..
really.. I want to spend the rest of my life with you..
I love you, guys..

Junjin: because of hyungs.. andy and I.. always.. can bear up for 4 years..
but I haven’t said ‘I love you’ to hyungs.. not even once.. to andy too..
hyungs.. I sincerely love you..

Dongwan: Although we are not related by blood, we thank God for letting us meet.
This is the greatest fortune of my life. No matter what happens to our lives in the future.. I wish that we will keep this memory of us forever.
Until we die, let’s never forget this friendship of ours.

Minwoo: I honestly couldn't say anything at that time, but we just wanted to hug all our fans as we were hugging each other and crying together.
Jin cried so much then, didn't he? We all cried. You and us...

Andy: As the members were very busy at that time, contacting them was not easy. As time went by.. I thought.. that even without me, shinhwa with 5 people will do well.. thinking about it brought tears to my eyes.. but even while I was crying.. I didn’t dare to say a word.. I didn’t want to hurt our fans..

Eric: At first I didn't know how to help Andy during that year.
But I think it helped when he watched us perform on stage.
Why is Andy such an important part of me? Because I love him.
He seems to be so cute that way.
When he's singing, he's like a little girl who you just want to kiss.
He seems to be working so hard....

Andy: when I became extremely depressed, I was determined to leave the group. However, in the end, standing on the stage of Shinhwa’s Fan Meeting, the members cried while trying to stop me from leaving

Eric: If Andy hadn’t come back for our fifth album, there wouldn’t be Shinhwa now


Year 5 (2002) – 2ND Quest for the LEGEND

Junjin: there was a time when I was really badly injured...
I was rushed to the emergency department at the hospital.

Junjin: The doctors managed to stop the blood which was flowing from my head injury..
but it was a very critical situation!

Junjin: All members were really worried.. dongwan hyung was hysterically shouting ‘119!!! 119!!!’ (emergency contact number in korea)
When I woke up I was already in the hospital.. Eric hyung had already been waiting there for a few hours..
he was sitting in a pose that you do when you do yoga.. minwoo hyung was walking back and forth..
and hyesung hyung was over there crying ‘this is the first time I’ve ever seen jinnie this hurt..’
Hyesung: I really thought he was not going to make it..

Hyesung: at that time when junjin was injured, when I went to the emergency room.. the doctor said..
‘the situation is really dangerous since a lot of blood seems to be flowing from the head.’
He said ‘surviving through tonight would be really difficult’.. as soon as I heard that, really.. I was so.. I was so shocked..
I went to outside.. the rain was falling down.. I was crying so much.. I felt like a close brother was going to leave me..
really.. I couldn’t express it through words.. Jinnie ,you have to be careful.. don’t make me cry again..
Eric: that’s right.. you better be really careful.. every time you’re always like that..
each time.. every time we do a performance.. you always get hurt..


Year 6 (2003) – the Revival of the LEGEND

Dongwan: we’ve moved to a new place.. we’ve been under a different music label and company..

Dongwan: We're united in our loyalty.. until the end we'll be loyal..
And we'll give back as good as what we got.. we've always done that..
With a new album, with new music, with a new style. We'll pay you all back with that..

Hyesung: it was such a hard and important decision that we had to make.
Fortunately we made the right choice and we hit it off. It looks like we’ll get a new start again as Shinhwa.

Year 7 (2004) – We are the 'LEGEND'

Junjin: I didn’t believe it although they called our names two or three times

Eric: I was really surprised. The group can tell you all about it

Junjin: The last few years were so hard..
Eric: Just like a movie, those hard times came back to us so suddenly

Hyesung: our fans’ tears turned into tears of joy today.. that makes us very happy..

Eric: to be honest, every year each of us had been hopeful..
that’s why I thought we would feel indifferent this year..
but after the award, it’s a totally different feeling..

Shinhwa Changjo: Outside, in the dark, without any lights, and with a microphone system that wasn’t meant to be used for these purposes,
Shinhwa came out to see us all. With only one bodyguard,
Shinhwa left over 20 reporters waiting for interviews to come out and have a moment with us.

Hyesung: Thank you.. as all of you and we had hoped and hoped for 7 years, we finally did it today..
we didn't have this fanmeeting planned but we know we got this all because of you,
so we came out just to say how much we thank you..

Jun Jin: Seriously... I dont want to show you any tears... but inside I'm crying my heart out..
we never expected this.. this is all because of you.. after debuting in 1998... it's been seven years..
we've been through a lot but we've made it this far because of you.. thank you..

Minwoo: I love you Shinhwachangjo!!!!!.. Thank you so much... this is all because of you..... WE WON THE AWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eric: ah.... truthfully we all didnt have any greed for getting a Daesang.. really..
when others got it, we were seriously so happy for them and their happiness seemed like ours..
but every year when we didnt get the daesang.... and we saw how much you had looked forward to it and then got sad and disappointed...

Year 8 (2005) – SHINHWA: Separated yet Together

Hyesung: The first solo activity of all the members of Shinhwa was Junjin. He did a CF and
all the members of Shinhwa split the income that Junjin earned on his own, six even ways.
Now we keep all the income to ourselves, but Junjin was too sweet.
He said, 'Even though I shot the CF alone, we're Shinhwa, so let's split it.'

Eric: It gets lonely when there is no one to play and make trouble with. When busying with Shinhwa activities, no matter how busy the schedules are, members will still play around with each other, however during solo activities, you will have to tolerate alone and solve your own problem.
It’s really lonely.

Minwoo: While I was active as a solo singer M, there were so many moments when I was lonely. In particular when I was preparing for the solo concert and my health was at its worst,
I missed the members a lot. Although I received many help from the members when doing M activities but when I am on stage, I will be alone. I will then feel pressurized during that time and then hope to have activities with the members.

Dongwan: I will feel really lonely when doing solo activities and I will start to think of the past
when we are staying together in the hostel. Although it’s tiring, but there are many interesting memories with the members.

Hyesung: I felt the burden during solo because a stage which is meant for the six is now left only for me. During solo activities, I spend a lot of time alone, so it gets boring. When having activities with the members, we often joke and play when resting. So I often miss those times.. I really appreciate my members’ presences.

Junjin: I will think of the members when I fell sick. It is most tiring to grasp the whole stage,
it is also sad when the members aren't around to carry off my part when I am sick. If I am not feeling well when doing activities with the members, members will help to share out my parts, however, when doing solo activities, no one can help you and I felt really lonely.

Andy: When being the MC for SBS Inkigayo, seeing all the hoobaes like BATTLE, SS501, DBSK, Super Junior playing together makes me miss Hyungs a lot.

Minwoo: As soon as I said my thank you speech.. I suddenly remembered the Shinhwa members. 'Sob!' Actually as soon as I arrived at the airport I felt empty but once I got on stage, I missed them even more.

Dongwan: Whenever we have shoots together with the members, if there are awkward moments or whatnot, we all make jokes and help raise the mood. [his facial expression shows his loneliness from realizing that he was lonely for not being with the Shinhwa members]
Besides getting all the money from it, I don't think there's anything else that's good about doing CFs alone. Hey, you members, we agreed to meet tonight, right? If I told you ahead of time about this CF job, then I figured you would have made me pay for tonight. So I didn't tell you on purpose. Today... I hope Eric pays for it!

Hyesung: I felt colorless when I was doing my solo activities without other members around.

Eric: For me, who had always worked together with the Shinhwa members, the emptiness I felt on the days of filming was unexpressable...

Dongwan: When I lived with the members, I never had insomnia. But these days, living by myself, there are days when I cannot sleep. When I cant sleep at night, I miss the days when we lived together and how when we couldn't sleep we'd talk together throughout the night.
Then I just miss the members so much.
Hyesung: These days Dongwan must not be able to sleep every night. Every day he calls me late at night and asks 'Can't you sleep over at my place tonight?'
[Hyesung left very early so they could go see Junjin act. Junjin was very happy since he hasn’t seen HyeSung in over 2 months and immediately hugged Hyesung]
Junjin: I was very thankful and happy they came, I had a hard time that day and when I saw Hyesung I forgot all my worries and had a good time.

Eric: I rushed over from the "June's Diary" shooting set. I came here (minwoo’s 2nd album showcase) in a rush so I wore slippers and because of this, Minwoo gave me a hard time.

Junjin: Hyesung always comes to the recording room, and when I have faults, he criticizes me and gives me very valuable advice.

Minwoo: Eric gave me the biggest support by sending me the message
'Are you tired?
Minbong Fighting.
I love you.'
Members feel that such messages are very mushy and we do not send it often.
[After saying all these, Minwoo smiled happily]

Eric: I was so thankful that my members came to the premiere to support me. Really, there is no one that can compare to my members. We really don’t compliment each other, but after the VIP premiere, amazingly all members sent me the same text message saying, ‘F***, buy drinks!' and I knew that in that statement they were proud of me.

Minwoo: When I was doing the recording, I received written encouragement from the members but there was this one evil person who sent a really weird message. Very soon, I found out it was Eric who sent me the surprising message 'Go die' (죽어)" so I sent him a reply and wrote, 'Get lost' (꺼져).

Junjin: The band member who were most unhelpful is Eric. Eric had, many times, sent me messages like ‘샤릉훼’ (syareunghwe) this kind of alien language had often disturbed me during practice.

Junjin: I'd rather have one joking message from one of the members than ten other people giving me praises when I am down and need my spirits lifted.

Shinhwa: Although we are a group, we are also each active personally.. doing the work we want to do each day... However when we are united together we are the strongest force there is!

Year 9 (2006) – The LEGEND is Back...

Shinhwa: There were hardly any times when all six of us could record at the same time. But we were able to take a lot of strength from the notes filled with what we wanted to say left for each other.
Hyesung: The notes were full of attacking comments towards me. I don't know if the other members took strength from that but they all attacked me too much.
Dongwan: All the members just love Hyesung too much.
Junjin: I was able to take a lot of strength from making attacking comments.
Minwoo: There was a time while recording one of the albums tracks 'Weak Man' (약한 남자) was recorded wrong so I had to record again but then Hyesung who was with me, looked at me with a satisfied look in his eyes and laughed.

Eric: I really want to meet the members and go on stage together quickly.
Our members who know what to do just by looking at each others eyes.

Hyesung: We only slept for 2 hours that day, and we had been very busy since the morning, thus we were very tired. We can overcome the tiredness though, because it has been a long time since we were gathered together, and we are really happy to see each other again.

Junjin: To be able to work together with the members, this is the best way to de-stress.

Junjin: We are all busy seperately but once we get together its enough to bring a tear to the eye, its heart-rending and great.

Dongwan: Our Shinhwa members all do not want to remove the title of 'Shinhwa'. After busily working separately and then getting all together again and singing is something we love so much. The ecstasy like taste that is given from the stage, it’s so amazing and exhilarating. Not only does it give the synergy effect, it brings you income too. That’s a joke. [laughs]

Year 10 (2007) – the LEGEND lives on…

Andy: what I wish for is that shinhwa goes on healthy and release the 100th album.
Dongwan: I want to have concerts like this for 20 years more.
Hyesung: I want to leave our name in the Korean pop history. What I mean is not that we should be in the first place whenever we release an album, but that we stay together till the end.
Minwoo: I want to stay with our members till we get older and die.
Junjin: we’ll stick together till the end. Every year, our members always get hurt. So I wish in the future no one gets hurt and shinhwa changjo stays healthy.

Dongwan: The thought of going on stage with the Shinhwa members together even past the age of 40 and 50 fills me with excitement. After all the members go to the army, I’m sure everyone will have things to do, but we’ll always do everything together

Junjin: Shinhwa breaking up? I think you should worry about things that really need worrying about. The members have all promised each other to keep going until in the very distant future when we get married and have children so you cannot possibly say the words of 'breaking up' to us. And we also promised each other that with our children we will make another group entitled 'Shinhwa Junior'.

Hyesung: Just because we're busy doing our own things, doesn't mean that we're not friends.
There is still a strong relationship that continues to grow in our group everyday. We've come a long way and we're more than friends-we're mentors and brothers to each other. Don't doubt that.

Junjin: The reason for us being together for so long is trust. Although we've quarreled, fought, and bore grudges against each other, but because we trust each other so much, Shinhwa was able to continue for so long.

Eric: We've overcome all sorts of trouble and made a really special friendship. At certain points we hit, beat, fought each other and even with other members helping, but the most important thing was that whatever the conflict, it would never last a day.

Dongwan: the reason that we can stay together for so long is………the contract!!! ^^
Minwoo: that was a joke. The time where we all lived together brought everyone closer. We are so happy that we have each other, to support and stay with each other all the time.
Dongwan: some people think we’re as close as brother, which is not true.. ^^
Eric: though I may not be old enough to say this, I can say I’ve experienced the best and worst times of my life as with Shinhwa members. That’s why we can keep our relationship going…
even though we have Dongwan. ^^ so even without the contract, and even with Dongwan, Shinhwa will always be together till the end.

Eric: In the future, if there comes a time where no company wants us, we might just form our own company and carry on.


Andy: When all six of us are together it is seriously noisy and chaotic.. Sort of like the feeling of meeting the family members after being apart for a long time. Jinnie hyung who had just returned from filming in the country hadn't slept yet, but being with the Shinhwa members of course~ he forgot about his tiredness and returned to his cheery self. Eric hyung kept being called 'CEO' and was affectionately teased by us, but everyone was so happy his drama is doing so well and congratulated him. And, the hyungs as usual... imitated the Nonstop lines that are so familiar to me, and still got them wrong. Although they're only one or two years older hyungs, everytime they do that, I feel as if I am they're real little brother..

Eric: I monitor the activities of the other Shinhwa members in order to catch funny phrases and actions. It's because the other group members can take one such funny phrase and make fun of me for more than a month.

Andy: The members are very playful. Aside from Dongwan hyung, the rest of the members don't seriously give advice on my acting. Instead, if they find something lacking they tease with it. Every time they see me the first thing they say is "Are you Hye Joo?" (a line from andy’s drama ‘lovers in Prague’) We met up recently in a place where there was a lot of people and they shouted loudly "Are you Hye Joo?" It was so embarassing.

Minwoo: Because we were so comfortable with each other, 2-3 of us usually took showers at a time. Once, Andy came in while I was taking a shower and sprayed ketchup over my head as a joke.
I thought my head was bleeding and was so shocked. I almost fainted!

Eric: Whether it's pushing against people in moving cars, or throwing really hot water on other member's butts when we are bathing are some of the funny things we all do to one another, not just me.

Japanese reporter: I was surprised of the Shinhwa I saw. Their relationship is extremely good,
and they are like children at heart; noisy and mischievous.

Lee Ji Hoon (singer/actor): I envy them because they're always together. They are so funny and close to each other. It seems so good.

GoodEMG: Their relationship is like friends who are so close that they are like family. Even if they had not seen each other for a long time, they can immediately start chatting just like old friends.

Dongwan: During these years, I've had some of the toughest times... And we've shared all the important times with all 6 members together... We've had fun and made each other laugh... Also when we've had serious days, we've drunk together... We've always been together like that..

Junjin: Everytime I went through hard times I would think a lot about the other members.

Hyesung: In the old days, when Jin was hurt, then I could feel it... When one of us is hurt, or something bad happens to one of us... Then we would all feel sad., We'd all be down. But we all knew that it would heal and that we'd be back to work soon..

Junjin: I truly want to say this to Hyesung hyung. We are Shinhwa till we die so I want to be there for him when he needs me and he would definitely be there for me when I need him…

Minwoo: Just staying with each other without saying a word, we could feel each other..

Junjin: I think of the other members first, and even now I still think of them when I am hurting. Or when I'm confused. Sometimes I’m really worried that I would wake up and find myself alone. That this situation was really just a lie... But our members are always there for each other..
even though you may not be able to see it, I could feel the love that all our members really have for each other..

Hyesung: when I was alone I wan't just one-sixth of a group... I wasn't just one of six, nor one of ten, nor one of 12, nor one of 20...

Dongwan: to me, Shinhwa is not a choice, but fate.

Eric: I became an entertainer at the age of 20, and all of my youth was spent with Shinhwa.
I feel so fortunate that I've found the meaning of life, and being able to live such a meaningful life with them.

Hyesung: I feel that Shinhwa exists just like parents. It brings us to meet, let us grow, nurture us into who are now. It is the group called 'Shinhwa'.
Eric: Shinhwa is everything. Without Shinhwa there won't be the present me, and I would not meet precious friends and members who love me.
Dongwan: Like what Eric said, there won't be a present me without Shinhwa.. I will never forget that I come from Shinhwa.. It is the mineral source of my life.
Junjin: to me, Shinhwa is like home. Shinhwa is like a place where I can return to anytime, a place that exists to welcome me back at any moment..

Shinhwa: To us, the number '6' is so unique and so special. It was through all six of us being together that we became the "Shinhwa" we are now, and it is our desire to continue to be together as six and as Shinhwa... That's why the number '6' is so special to us.. When we first practiced together there wasn't six of us, but the day we first went up on stage as "Shinhwa" we became six... it can be seen as destiny...
To us, to be together as "Shinhwa" is only too natural, and we hope people will just continue to accept "Shinhwa" as we all hope to become better within that name..

MC: Was there any instance where the group almost broke up?
Minwo: Yes…one time when we were living together, we had strict rules…couldn’t do anything without the manager’s permission….I asked Eric to go out for a drink….we were late the next morning for practice because we overslept.. when we got to the studio, the rest of the members were already on their knees for 2 hours. The manager knew that Eric and I went out and everyone was being punished. Manager got mad and told us to quit!
Minwoo: Andy started crying and got up and told the manager ‘I quit too!’…but when the manager yelled at Andy to ‘SIT DOWN’, Andy said ‘yes sir!’ and was on his knees again right away again!
Andy: When you are on your knees for 2 hours…it hurts a lot..
Minwoo: Eric and I came back to apartment to pack….I asked Eric, where/what am I going to do… Eric told me I can go with him back to US and we can do something together
Minwoo: As we were packing, we heard loud hurried foot steps…so I thought they are coming back to tell us good news that we don’t have to go
Minwoo: Hyesung came first and said, ‘you didn’t go yet?....what can we do…if there’s a chance, we’ll meet again’
Minwoo: Junjin came next and said, ‘hyung….keep in touch’

Radio host : Who is the weirdest member in shinhwa?
Dongwan : I think Junjin and Eric do a lot of weird things.

A bumblebee doll.. It was about 3-4 in the morning, and he was beating up that bumblebee doll in the night..
if i didn't stop him, he would have kept beating it up all night.
JunJin : Eric is the even weirder one. When i was beating up the bumblebee,
he came up beside me and scolded the bumblebee, asking what it did that was so wrong.. (laughs)

Shinhwa 9th Album Promotions Begin

Group Shinhwa are preparing for their much anticipated 9th album release as well as beginning their large-scale promotions celebrating their 10th year anniversary.

A 2-day photoshoot on the 3rd and 4th of March took place at Incheon airfield taken by renowned celebrity photographer Jo Sun Hee.

The photoshoot, said by Jo Sun Hee to be of the six Shinhwa members being active and their famous strong looks, masculinity and overflowing appeal is expected to grab the fans attention once again.

Furthermore, to celebrate Shinhwa's 10th year anniversary, a perfume, character figures, teddy bears and other new and unusual events are in production.

A 6-set fragrance especially developed to suit the 6 Shinhwa members is also set to release, co-developed by French company Galimard entitled "The Scent of Shinhwa". Along with this, character figures designed by Kim Kwang Ho is sure to be the perfect gifts to commemorate Shinhwa and their 10 years together.

Details of these product releases, collobrated with famous art directors will be revealed on the 17th through Shinhwa's 10th Anniversary site (www.shinhwa10th.com) and will begin receiving orders from mid-March and be up for sale at the Shinhwa concerts.

A Good EMG representative announced, "Shinhwa's 10th year anniversary marks a milestone in Korean music, as the only group to have reached 10 years without a single member change. It is set to be a very important moment for the Shinhwa members and the fans to share. We hope that the 9th album and these products that have the members hearts embedded in them, will receive lots of love from the fans."

In the meantime, Shinhwa's 9th album title song music video, said to look like scenes straight out of a spectacular movie is set to undergo filming on the 18th and 19th of March.

Shinhwa 10th anniversary promotion

A grand promotion to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Shinhwa is in progress. Shinhwa is set to release special goods like a perfume set, character figures, and teddy bears to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

“Because Shinhwa is the only group in the Korean music scene that has lasted for 10 years without a member dropping out, we think that Shinhwa’s 9th album and 10th anniversary concert hold a special meaning for Shinhwa and its fans. We hope that the 9th album and the commemorative goods that have Shinhwa members’ hearts in them will receive lots of love from fans,” a Good Entertainment official said on the 14th.

A 6-perfume set called “The Scent of Shinhwa,” which matches each of the Shinhwa members was developed and produced in cooperation with France Galimard, while the character figures were designed by cartoon character desginer Kim Kwang Ho.

More details on the goods will be up on March 17 in Shinhwa’s 10th anniversary site and orders will be received by mid-March in the said site.

With regard to Shinhwa’s 9th album, which also commemorates the group’s 10th anniversary, the jacket pictures were already photographed last March 3 and 4 at the Incheon airfield. The famous photographer Jo Sun Hee, who previously worked with other big stars like Rain, Wonder Girls, Lee Hyo Ri, Jang Dong Gun, Jo In Sung and Song Hye Kyo, took charge of capturing the 6 members.

Andy's 'Clean House' exposed for the first time



SHINHWA Andy exposed his house in the broadcast program and is proud of it's cleanliness.

On the 15th broadcast in MBC 'Manwon Haengbook', Andy exposed his house to the viewers.

Andy showed his collection of SHINHWA 1st jib to the current which were all being framed up, puzzle made with his childhood pictures, and presents he receives from the fans. Andy express that he uses his primary school pic and made it into a puzzle, said "I gave the pictures out to the TV station as a info research but till now i have not got it back so i have been keeping this."

Andy in the program showed his kindergarten pics, and reveal the reason why it was taken with an angry expression, "When i was shotting this pic, it was force taken by my aunties. Due to the flashing and i closed my eye, in the end i have to retake all the kindergarten pics. Due to the reason of this i made an angry expression on the reshoot."

Andy cooking in his clean kitchen, revealing his homey side. Andy showed his pot collection that he owns in the house, he said that he is a silver pot collector.

On the other hand of the program being Andy's representative, Bae Seul Gi express "If you say Lee Jae Jin is childish, then Andy is even more childish." revealing the true identity of Andy bhind. Andy: "SHINHWA's original name was B.S.T"

Andy revealed the little incident of SHINHWA's original name.

On the 15th MBC broadcast in program 'Manwon Happiness', Andy said "SHINHWA's origin name was B.S.T" and reveal the incident happened during their training days.

During SHINHWA training period, their name was B.S.T. Andy laught "It looks good at the first point, but some of the fans was making fun saying it's a herbal soup name." "Then after that we've changed the name."

At the other hand Andy complained, "When JunJin was in Manwon happiness he said he will buy me a new phone but til now he has not get me one." When Junjin was participating in Manwon, he made a handphone cover for Andy in the '1000won gift to someone special' segment.

Due to the reason JunJin got the wrong handphone model cover, it was not the one Andy was using. Andy then ask JunJin "Then you just get me a new phone."

Andy wined, "That's too much of Junjin, if he still dont get me one i will get angry, it is a must present." then later he showed his giving up thought, "It is obvious that he wont get me one."

Eric: "Thinking of marriage after 3 years military service"



SHINHWA Eric revealed his thoughts: "To met a good/right person in my 30s and get married."

Eric on the 15th broadcast KBS 2TV 'Artist Broadcast' exposing his latest CF shooting scene. Eric was looking nervous comparing with the nature female model. Eric explained his nervous reason, "It has been a long time i had not been doing any shooting, and I'm always shy with the ladies in who i will be shooting with."

Eric was being asked "What is your wish to come true in your 30s?" and he replied, "I would like to get married." "I am thinking after 3 years to meet the right person and get married." And he was not hiding and express "Because i will be serving in the military service, so after that i would like to meet the right person."

Shinhwa to release new song on 10th anniversary



Shinhwa will unveil their new song, 다시 힌번만 (Just One More Time) prior to the release of their 9th album.

The song, which will be unveiled on sites such as Melon, Bugs, Dosirak, Soribada, is written by Wanted's Kim Jae Hee and lyrics by Choi Kye Won, who has also written for singers like Wheesung, Big Bang, Gummy, Lee Hyori and Lee Seung Ki. "Just One More Time" is an R&B ballad, and will be unveiled on the day of Shinhwa's 10th anniversary.

The highlights of the new song will be its movie OST-like arrangement and the vocal harmony of all the Shinhwa members.

A Shinhwa spokesperson said, " 'Just One More Time" displays the coordination of their clean voices with powerful rap, and is a ballad that can fully demonstrate Shinhwa's charisma", his words showing the anticipation for the song.

Shinhwa spent 18th and 19th March in Gyeonggi-do filming the MV, and the video spot will be unveiled on the Shinhwa 10th anniversary site on the 24th.

Shinhwa will also be releasing 50,000 copies of the 'Special Limited Edition' of their 9th album on 3 April, and the official 9th album on 10 April.

The 'Special Limited Edition' will feature a hologram image of Shinhwa with serial numbers from 1 to 50,000, making this edition highly collectible.

Shinhwa said, "We're really glad to be able to unveil our new song on our 10th anniversary. In these 10 years, we had the most blissful time because we have the members and our fans. The 9th album and the 10th anniversary concert will be Shinhwa's unforgettable gift to our fans."

Shinhwa is now busy with their preparation for the 10th anniversary concert on 29/30 March and their 9th album.

We Are Shinhwa


Softly counting "one, two, three", then stretching one arm and then shouting "Annyeong haseyo, urineun Shinhwa imnida! (Hello, we are Shinhwa!)" Just like this, they have spent 10 years together.

In the past they would carefully rehearse their introductions, seriously saying "I'm English rapper Andy", now Andy would jokingly introduce himself "I'm Cute Guy Andy". Even with the passage of time, Shinhwa is still Shinhwa. There are still the 6 of them, Eric's still the leader, Shin Hyesung is still the main vocalist. It's hard to find any idol group even in the US and Japan where there hasn't been any change of members.

However, the reason why Shinhwa's 10th anniversary is attracting so much attention isn't just because they've been around for so long. Perhaps there will never be another group that will live through one whole pop era. This doesn't have that much to do with how popular they are or how good their music is. Shinhwa's stronghold is not so much in music, but rather entertainment, they are more of idols than singers.

10 Years of Shinhwa, 10 Years of Fans


Of course H.O.T was earlier than them. But since 2001 when H.O.T disbanded, Shinhwa has been the idol group that has set the benchmark for idol group culture for the 21st century. They are the first idol group to be able to achieve success as a group and individually. They unabashedly share their off-camera anecdotes on variety shows and bring laughter to even viewers who are not fans. Before them, there hasn't been any idol group who would reveal pictures of themselves in pyjamas or playing around in their dormitory, and there hasn't been any idol group members like Eric or Kim Dongwan who would state their point of views via their websites.

Everything that Shinhwa members have done serves only to benefit idol groups in general, and ever since then, many entertainment companies followed suit. Solo activities are part and parcel of all idol groups now, and management companies would reveal their personal photos even before they debut, attempting to narrow the distance between the group and the fans. Super Junior, now under SM Entertainment who first discovered Shinhwa, introduces themselves with "Urineun Super Junior-ieyo". Terms like 5-1=0 and 6-1=0, which fans use to oppose change of members, are also common now. Shinhwa, who began as an idol group of charismatic oppas, to today when fans are able to acknowledge the fact that there will be a day when they will have to split - they have already spent 10 years together.

Thus, Shinhwa and their fans have a relationship that are different from other groups. They made their debut wearing distinctive costumes with distinctive hairstyles, complete with a distinctive dance, singing Hae Gyul Sah. From then until the time when they sang "Once In A Lifetime" with a sophisticated image, Shinhwa fans have witnessed their whole growing-up process. During the whole time when Shinhwa turned from "idols losing their baby fat" to "handsome oppas", becoming oppas that made the fans love and hate at the same time. Shinhwa fans witnessed their successes, as well as failures, and amidst the highs and lows of the group, the fans have become an entity of its own. They loved, and hated, Shinhwa, and even if they didn't like Shinhwa as much as before they would still be affected by Shinhwa one way or another. They would still use terms like "Minsyung", "Mama Bird", and they would still have friends in the Shinhwa fan community. If they attended the concerts, they would meet the fans with whom have spent countless hours chatting about Shinhwa.

Idols with Evil Music and Dance Moves


Shinhwa is always willing to make a joke out of their own fabulous dance moves, turning their dances into spoofs and comic gags, and they are able to adapt to variety shows more easily and more quickly than any other group.

But it's a contradictory relationship between Shinhwa and their fans, that's because Shinhwa is an "evil" group. Shinhwa has never sold more than 1 million copies like H.O.T or G.O.D. If H.O.T has "Candy" and G.O.D has "Lies", Shinhwa doesn't have that one song that could let non-fans sing along easily. Their main tracks are always dance songs with quick beats and powerful rhythms, even when T.O.P was released, the complicated dance was incredibly hard to follow.

Here, member Lee Minwoo's influence on Shinhwa's music and dance is very extensive, and it's Minwoo's personal preferences that makes Shinhwa a more "extreme" group. His own solo work "Bump" is good evidence of that. He likes to use strong but controlled beats in his music, and his dance moves aren't only powerful but require a lot of technique and details in the smaller moves as well.

Just like the complicated dance moves in Justin Timberlake's "Like I Love You", Shinhwa similarly used difficult-to-follow moves in "Wedding". "Brand New" featured more than 20 people on one stage with various formations. If one wants to like Shinhwa, she needs to be able to appreciate the adrenaline brought forth by "Wedding", and she needs to feel the spectacularity of the complicated dance choreography in "Wild Eyes". Thus, for fans who are already stuck in Shinhwa's world, chances are that they just get more and more entrenched. But for non-fans, Shinhwa is a group that is hard to relate to.

Although They Have Done Everything An Idol Group Can Do, They Are Still Idols


The 7th album which they realised after they signed with a new company held extraordinary meaning for them. Shinhwa never used the strategy of staying away from fans and the public. They continuously work on getting closer to the fans, and though their fandom didn't expand overnight, it grew steadily and consistently throughout. This is the result of entering the threshold of public acceptance. Though "Brand New" is still a trademark Shinhwa dance song, but it was this song that won Shinhwa its first Daesang.

Fans give Shinhwa the nickname of "gag group", and their individual versatility on variety shows is known to everyone. The nature of the group is as such - the way group activities and individual activities complement each other - that is something that Shinhwa does particularly well, and in a sense Shinhwa can be considered as the most successful group evern. Of course in terms of a meteoric rise in popularity over a short period of time, there hasn't been any group that can surpass Seo Taiji & The Boys and H.O.T. But Shinhwa are still idols in an idol group, or even more than that. There are members who have gained recognition as actors, while others have written for other singers and are acknowledged as prominent songwriters. But at the end of the day, they're still idols, they're still Shinhwa.

A New Era Where No Korean Idol Group Can Surpass Their Achievements


They have spent their entire 20s as idols, and are everything from idol singers to multi-entertainers. The unique thing about Shinhwa is how they are still considered as an idol group when they are consequetively stepping into their 30s, and how their group activities go hand-in-hand with their individual activities. Members who have embarked on individual careers have had a huge push from the Shinhwa brand, and in return their individual careers have further strengthened the Shinhwa brand. But gradually members started to spend more time on their solo careers, and for their 8th album they only had a short promotional period for it, after which there has been almost no group activities in Korea. During this time, members have been acting in dramas or releasing solo albums. Away from the Shinhwa name, Eric can now be considered as the actor Mun Jung Hyuk.

Perhaps the "one and only idol group" SMAP from Japan is the kind of group they'd like to become, but unlike SMAP, they don't have their own variety show where they can get together every week. The poor state of the music industry also doesn't give them too many opportunities to perform together.

If during the SM days, Shinhwa was a group created by the company, then after the switch of companies, Shinhwa is the collective name used by 6 idols. Now the members are all signed to different companies, and everytime they get together it seems like a confirmation of their sense of belonging to each other. Although Shinhwa and their fan community are still active, but the sense of belonging to Shinhwa still remains even as they go about their individual activities.

Now they are about to enlist into the army one after another. For the past 10 years, they have been shouting "Urineun Shinhwa imnida (We are Shinhwa)". Can this line last through 15 or 20 years? At a time where Korean idol groups come and go, they are a legend. And possibly no Korean idol group can ever surpass what they have achieved.

10th anniversary thoughts: Why Shinhwa is a legend

Wearing oversized costumes and sporting long fringes, earnestly performing Hae Gyul Sah. The 23-year-old fans then are have also turned 29 or 30 by now. During this whole time, Shinhwa has functioned as a group, and also individually through members' activities in solo albums and dramas.

Due to release their 9th album next month, Shinhwa has had a long history with Sports Donga, as Sports Donga's first issue was also released on March 24. Since March 24 1998 when Shinhwa first made their debut, 10 years have already passed. On one hand, they have helped pop culture to flourish and left an indelible mark on pop history, and on the other hand they have managed to maintain their popularity and hold on firmly to their position of the national stars of Korea.

Once Shinhwa, Forever Shinhwa
"It's fate to share the same birthday, we hope that you can continue with Shinhwa in the future."

We met up with Shinhwa who were filming their MV at Jebu-do, Hwaseong in Gyeonggi-do, and they greeted us with the statement above when we started our interview.

Failure of 1st Album, Disbandment Worries
The path of success didn't run smooth for Shinhwa in the last 10 years. After the failure of their first album, they faced the possibility of disbandment. And Andy's departure during the 4th album left many fans in agony. Disbandment worries once again surfaced due to a change in management agency and contract renewal issues.

Kim Dongwan recently disclosed on a program that, "Eric rejected very high solo contract offers to ensure that the group stayed intact."

To this Eric replied, "My choice wasn't a sacrifice, it was the best decision I've made in my life."

FREQUENT FIGHTS
Most idol groups don't last long. Then what is the secret behind their longevity as a group? Shinhwa responded with "loyalty and brotherly love".

Shin Hyesung said, "Now we share an understanding like that of brothers. Although they are times that we fight and argue, but they only serve to strengthen our bonds."

Eric added, "If there isn't trust between the members, it's not possible to be able to stand on the same stage for 10 years."

Famous for being straightforward with reporters, Kim Dongwan said, "The loyalty between the members is very important. We all know that Shinhwa's power is much stronger than our individual strength."

Pre-Enlistment Confession..Reunion 4 Years Later
To Shinhwa, 2008 is a meaningful year not only because it's the year of their 10th anniversary, but it also signifies the beginning of the future. The members who will experience the biggest change in their lives will be Kim Dongwan, Eric and Lee Minwoo, as they will be enlisting into the army this year. Junjin and Andy are also due to enlist in 2009 and 2010 respectively. This means that it will take at least 4 years before the members can reunite as a group.

But Shinhwa members all agree that "there's no such thing as Shinhwa disbanding". Lee Minwoo said, "Our members will grab whatever opportunities that come along that will allow us to regroup. Junjin added that "When the members reunite 3 or 4 years later, it should feel like meeting our first loves." From what they say, we should be expecting a 10th album to come from Shinhwa.

Resolving Conflicts
Shinhwa's advice to the younger groups - "To be able to stay together for as long as we have, you have to be able to resolve diasgreements between members as quickly as possible." Shin Hyesung said, "Most of the time when groups disband it's due to conflicts between members. After all everyone grew up in a different environment, and everyone has different values. We fight too, but we will resolve our disagreements immediately."

Kim Dongwan emphasized the importance of group unity, "You need to think as though you'll be living together for life. Once you notice that you have different points of view, you won't be able to breathe and grow together."

Eric's return to TV before army enlistment

Shinhwa member Eric (Mun Jung Hyuk, 29) will be displaying his acting skills for the last time before he enlists into the army.

The KBS2 drama, 최강칠우 (Choi Gang Chiru / Strongest Chiru - working title) from 9 June onwards, every Monday and Tuesday at 9.55pm. Scripted by Baek Yoon Chul and produced by Park Man Young, the drama will star Eric as the male lead character Kang Chiru (working name).

"Strongest Chiru" is KBS's latest sageuk drama after "Hong Gil Dong". Eric will play a lowly officer in a 의금부 (eui geum bu) (a court that handles crimes of treason) in the Joseon era, nondescript, not very smart and whose lifelong ambition is to become a mid-level officer. However when night falls, he transforms into the top assassin in an assassination organization, who metes out punishment to evildoers and gives justice where needed. This challenging role will see him play out a man with two vastly different characters.

The court, the equivalent of the modern-day police department in the Joseon era, will be the setting for the drama, and the sageuk drama will feature action scenes with assassins with various secrets.

After starring in MBC's "Que Sera Sera" last May, Eric has been busy with Shinhwa's overseas activities. This will be the last drama project before he enlists into the army.

Eric, unlike the other members, hasn't had any solo album activities beside Shinhwa group activities.

Shinhwa's 9th album is due to be released very soon, and when interviewed Eric sad, "I took a long break because my health condition wasn't that good. Now I'm in my peak condition."

Eric's management company Top Class Entertainment expressed, "Eric can't really relate himself to a sageuk drama, but as the script is very interesting, he decided on it as his next project. After a year's break, he's now in the pink of health. This drama is expected to end in mid-August and he's scheduled to enlist in September".

Singer Lee Minwoo gives his all for Shinhwa's 10th year anniversary activities.

To fully prepare for group Shinhwa's 10th year celebration concert, to be held on the 29th and 30th at the Gymnasium in Seoul Olympic Park, Lee Minwoo gave up his previously scheduled individual activities.

A representative from Lee Minwoo's management company OPENWORLD ENTERTAINMENT said, "Concerning the recently released MINI album, Lee Minwoo barely went through a promotional period. To prepare for Shinhwa's 10th year concert, he canceled broadcast activities previously scheduled for the 21st and 23rd, and is currently dedicating all his efforts into preparing (for the album and concert)”

Lee Minwoo is composing for four songs, one of which includes the title track (name yet to be determined), to be included on Shinhwa's 9th album celebrating their 10th year debut. Lee Minwoo is also spending a lot of time on dance choreography, in preparation for the upcoming public performances in front of the fans. With all this, naturally the situation arises in which the only possible solution is to cut back on his own personal activities.

Lee Minwoo's company expressed, "Because this will be the last set of activities before Eric, Kim Dongwan and other members will have to enlist, Minwoo felt that the concert stage this time seemed particularly special. Minwoo "I had fought with Hyesung before till i see blood"


Singer Lee Minwoo revealed that he had fought member Shin Hyesung before in these 10 years.

In 26th episode broadcast of MBC Golden Fishery - Radio Star, SHINHWA Andy & Lee Minwoo (M) expresses their inner thought.

Specially is when MC Kimgura questioned "Last time in a certain program, there was a time where you had blurted out your ex lover's real name and it had become a hot topic, right?" Towards this, LeeMinWoo explain "At that time love was so simple and beautiful, the words just came out naturally, i did not even thought of protecting my private life at all."

Lee Minwoo in one of a program last year once said "I used to really like Seo Ji Young & Shin Ae, they are the women where i deeply in love with before."

Idol group SHINHWA celebrate their 10th anniversary. KimDongwan, Eric and other members will be enlisting and there will be a 3 years of blank period where SHINHWA will not be on stage together, when this matter strike into everybody's mind, all the fans started to be sob and burst into tears.

During the performance, LeeMinWoo stood alone on the stage and facing the fans who were teary in the crowd and started to make his love confession, and he successfully turned the atmosphere into a hot space.
"I can see the day when 6 of us will be unite again if not far from today. We will come back one day. Between the members my i tend to cry alot. But my tears is not because of sadness, because of everybody's love to us. I can see that the other 5 members are filled with happiness. Even if it's hell, i will chase that fella and go along to the place with him. Everybody will be right with us right?" Fans who were crying wipe their tears with their hand and shouted "I LOVE YOU" "SHINHWA SAN".

Self exclaim "A group where never be serious" after the members made the audience cry, back to their usuals they started to make joke/fun on stage, and everybody burst into a small laughter. The member's humour were unlease after their performance "Resolver".

"This song we have been singing for 10 years" and the members talk about their mistakes which they had made on their very first broadcast. Performing the dance steps which they could remember in their mind, and recalling back the moment back then, "We too had moments we felt sorry to each other when we made a mistake in the dance. At that year after watching ShinHyeSung first performance, SM LeeSooMan had a deep thought and in the end changed the whole dance." JunJin due to there was no one recognises him during SHINHWA 1st album, there were lots of funny incidents happend. Even performed Wondergirls "Tell Me" & Jewelry "One More Time" dance.

But when it to the end of the conversation, Andy could not hold his tears back and the fans too could not help themselves bearing all the misses they had gain in heart and shouted "I LOVE YOU" while crying.

Eric said "This time we wont be able to meet for 3 years long. But soon we will be back, within these period i hope everybody will workhard and do your best on your own stuff, waiting for us." LeeMinWoo "To able to tell everybody that we will meet again, that's why we are here today. Started off with 6 person, if we end it will be too together as 6. We must become the lengendary SHINHWA, the legendary in life." KimDongWan looking that the crying fans "I saw MoonHeeJun came back from his enlistment and i felt surprise with his outlook. We are not going anything with it."

"Oh!" "Yo!" was the encore performance, everybody in the stadium stoop up and cheered for them.

"Even if i close my eyes now, i could still remember out first performance. Fear was actually taking over in heart. Sweat, Ha~ A person like me who does not afraid of anything, will also sweat in that situation ya. Oh, no, even if i am standing on the stage alone, i will definately be sweating. Because of you all, i only manage to gain my smiles. Til the day we die... no... even if we die, we are still SHINHWA."

Eric & Dongwan, delayed their enlistment date for SHINHWA

SHINHWA's Kim Dongwan & Eric's enlistment date is at the corner. Kim Dongwan management company H2 Enter related staff said "For SHINHWA 9th album activities, the enlistment date will delay till September~October."

Kim Dongwan had received a notice regarding to enlist on April, but because of SHINHWA's 9th album activities & solo activities, he had delayed his enlistment date to 5 months later. At the same time, member Eric will be enlisting at the same month too. Due to Eric had a KBS 2TV Drama in hand so he had delayed his enlistment date to September.

Kim Dongwan express "April 3rd SHINHWA will release the 9th album & on the 10th will release a solo album, i think these will be my last activities before my enlistment." About his acting field, he said "Because i need to enlist, so it's impossible for me to act in a drama."

Fans Give Shinhwa Members Surprise Gift


'Shinhwa Must Go On 10th Anniversary Live,' a special concert marking the 10th anniversary of Shinhwa's debut, was held at the Fencing Stadium at the Seoul Olympic Park.

After the three-and-an-half-hour performance, including encore numbers, Shinhwa members got ready to step off the stage when a large screen installed on the stage began showing a video interview of close friends of Shinhwa who had shared the ups and downs with the members during the past ten years.

Shinhwa members, who were completely taken off-guard by the surprise video screening, sat on the stage and watched the video. Deeply touched by the words of their closest friends, members openly shed tears.

The group was then presented with a cake with a single candle in the shape of the number ten. Fans and Shinhwa, all moved to tears, sang 'happy birthday' together.

The concert will be the last performance for Shinhwa members for the next three years as members Eric and Kim Dong-wan will soon begin their military services. The event was a memorable and touching affair for Shinhwa members, their fans and members of the group's management company.

Shinhwa to be on hiatus for at least 3-5 years due to military duty


It will take at least 3 years and at most 5 years to see idol group Shinhwa - who just celebrated their 10th anniversary - on the same stage again, as the members will be consecutively reporting for mandatory military duties.

The oldest member, Eric, is likely to be the first to enlist. Born in 1979, Eric will start filming a KBS2 drama in April, and enlist in Sept/Oct after the filming wraps up. Similarly for 1979-born Kim Dongwan, he will be placing his focus on his solo album activities. Although he says he is unsure about his plans thereafter, he will also be enlisting this year. Hoping to take up acting once again, he also added, "I would like to continue acting when I complete my military duties."

Lee Minwoo and Junjin are expected to enliste next year. Lee Minwoo will be involved in solo album activities as well as acting until the end of the year. Junjin will be busy with solo album activities and overseas concerts.

1981-born Andy can hold off enlistment until 2010, but if that's the case, a Shinhwa reunion will take up to 5 years. Shin Hyesung is exempted from the army as he has a cruciate ligament injury.

At the end of their 10th anniversary concert, Junjin asked for the fans' support, "No matter if it's 3 or 4 years, please wait for the day when we stand on the same stage again". Eric also made a promise with the fans, "We're not splitting up, so we hope everyone can protect and wait for Shinhwa too."
