Though I never saw a full episode of their Japanese versions, I thought Code Geass and Death Note was awesome.

For those that watch a lot of subs and can't stand the irritating voices, my advice is to do what I do and have the episodes muted.

U mean having dual monitors one with subbed and other one dubbed (muted)? I haven't ever tried that yet

On topic of this thread thou, I thought that the dubbed versions of the following were done well:

Elfen Lied
Code Geass
DBZ (Funimation)
Rozen Maiden
Melody of Haruhi Suzuimiya
Buso Renkin

The only anime I've watched dubbed all the way through is Gundam 0079...parts of Gundam Unicorn and Inuyasha as well, which didn't seem too bad.

My opinions of dubs, aside from quality issues such as chosen voice actors, is mainly with how "Japanese" the show is. TV shows like K-on, Lucky Star, and most other slice-of-lifes don't make for good dubs simply because there are too many references to Japanese language and culture; imagine trying to translate the obligatory gratuitous English scenes, and I cringe whenever I hear them try to translate the honorifics as "Mister" or whatever. Not to mention that the show's set in Japan, they canonically are speaking Japanese, so...

Show that are more fantasy, set in a fictional universe like Gundam, lend themselves better to dubs. I loved the dub to Gundam Wing. I like the DBZ dub(s) because Goku's Japanese voice gets on my nerves. Then there's Hetalia, where the English voices with the different accents makes it that much funnier, and Baccano!, which is set in the U.S., so it's not too difficult to dub.

The best dubbed has to be FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood!!! Everything sounds the way it should and no other dub i"ve seen comes close to it ( I watch subs mostly) Death Note comes in second.

What I mean is mute the subs. Example: If I was watching a dubbed Cyborg 009 episode online on 1 window and a Shippuden subbed episode on the other window, Shippuden will get muted. Rie Kugimiya as Happy when I watch Fairy Tail is the main reason for watching the subbed versions muted a lot of the time. Junko Takeuchi as Naruto is an example where I will turn it on because I feel her boy voice for him is a lot damned better than Kugimiya's Happy.

Don't flame for this! Just as many people can feel that many English dubs have voices that don't match the character, I feel the same way for the Japanese version.
