Wow voting for One Piece's dubs invalidates any other arguments you make on this subject.

Eureka Seven was the only one that I have seen dubbed, but that was also my first Anime that I saw, and only realized that true anime is in Japanese.

But for what iets worth, E7 will always be my first

Probably Cowboy Bebop, though my personal favorite is the ADV gag dub of Ghost Stories.

Cowboy Bebop would have to be number one on my list.
FullMetal Alchemist was done really well too.
Inuyasha and Eureka Seven were good, but don't quite compare with the previous two.
Baccano! seemed like a pretty good dub, but I only watched a few clips.

This is just slightly off topic, but although the Air Gear dub wasn't the best altogether, it is the most amusing dub I've ever seen. There are a lot of times when the dubbers are pretty much making fun of either the original lines, the situation, or both.

I usually avoid the dubs in the first place (or nowadays I suppose it's always). Sometimes there just isn't much of anything that can be done to prevent part of a dub from sounding awkward. Cultural references can be a problem of their own, but that's not what I'm referring to. There are certain spots where the need to lip-sync it ends up forcing it to be awkward in English, now matter how creative they get. You know, like those times when it's one word in Japanese that's by itself, and there isn't any proper English equivalent. Even the best dubs have trouble with this.

I would highly recommend the English dub versions of Clannad, Full Metal Panic, The World God Only Knows, Angel Beats! as being my top favorites. I have seen an episode of each in Japanese and I definetly enjoy the dubbed better. I also don't need subtitles when im watching it in Japanese. But even if I didn't know any japanese, I wouldn't be able to read the subtitles from my bed due to sub par eyesight. The bed is my new couch!

Ok Ok..some dubs suck..but I DARE ANYONE who hates dubs to watch the dubbed Hellsing OVA and say its bad. Because honestly they got it right on the mark because Hellsing takes place where?..in England. So the accents are needed for an OVA like that.

I can't stand watcing dubbed either, their voices just don't fit most of the time. The only dubbed animes I can accept are those that I watched as a kid ie Pokémon, Dragonball Z and the likes.

lol. dubbed anime -is- all licensed.
first they make the anime in japan (in japanese). then someone licenses the rights to translate and sell it. then it gets dubbed.
if you've got something you think skips around those criteria, i'd love to hear it..

as for recommending dubs.. well, when i started watching, so incredibly many shows were dubbed -so- terribly it was just a moot point. almost nothing was worth watching dubbed. these days, i -still- find that a lot of anime have terrible voices that are completely inappropriate for the characters, so i occasionally try it out when i get dual-lang mkv's.. which lasts for maybe all of 3 minutes.

Monster's dub was very good considering they only had a handful of actors throughout the span of the entire series.
