I know that you're not allowed to host licensed anime, but if unlicensed anime was allowed it wouldn't make as much money.

huh you need to explain that doesnt make anysense. The reason that it is allowed if its not linced in america is because this site is hosted from america or something like that. As far as unlicensed it is because no company really is useing it at the moment to make money so no one really cares about it. Altough i am starting to wonder if anyone even cares about just streaming stuff anymore. Reason is almost all companys are starting to post a eposide of a show after it aired on to there website and streaming so idk

I mean its kinda legal because its like no one owning it if it is not licenesed in your country.

If the anime is unlicensed, wouldn't they make less money from boxsets and stuff, because people are watching it on the internet instead?

I would've thought there would be laws protecting both licensed and unlicensed animes.

well you could do what i know most users do. Use this website to find anime you like then go out and buy the box set of it or your favorite eposides. To me this site helps the anime companies. I have found anime i liked and never would of bought if not for this place.

I agree. I usually use sites like this to decide whether I like a series or not before I buy. If it weren't for sites streaming shows over the web, I would be stuck going on either word of mouth, or the junk they tend to show on cartoon network (not that every series they have shown is bad--I love Cowboy Bebop!).

Fansubs create an audience for the material, thus creating consumers to buy the product .\
Sites like this also give the japanese and american anime prodution companies an idea of what would do well in a foreign market

Well, let me say one thing. Unlicensed anime isn't subtitled. Without having any way of knowing What the hell people are saying, I really don't have a choice now do I.If you think that those import DVDs with the english subtitle options actually help the license holders get money, you are wrong. Those are fake releases bootlegged in Hong Kong. The original releases don't have subtitles.

It's technically illegal to host unlicensed anime, but the only people who could take action are companies from Japan. They don't really make much money off of anime in America anyways (only by it being licensed really), so they tend to not care.

It's the American companies headache...though they really don't tend to do much even about licensed anime being hosted, I guess there's just too much of it for them to catch it all.

usually ppl stream the anime then buy the boxsets, cos some boxsets have some limited edition stuff in them... and also normally websites that offer free streaming does not have really good quality, those deep anime lovers are normally very obsessed with anime quality...
