"Hundreds of episodes" makes it sound as if it is like Conan, Bleach, Naruto, or One Piece in length, rather than what it is really closer to, which is Inuyasha.

The series has 178 episodes, and I count 27 OVA episodes total.

Is there also a movie of the series? And 27 OVA episodes LOL, haven't heard of a series with that many ovas in awhile.

Was going to hoorah for earlier Hunter x Hunter, then I remembered to convert to EST >_> Can't wait until I move to Japan (which I hopefully will in the future) So psyched for another year of Gintama!

There is a single episode OVA, but remainder are made of up three OVA series covering the national tournament: An initial 13 episode OVA, another 6 episode one covering the national semifinals and another 7 covering the national finals.

When you're making a 13 episode OVA, it does beg the question, "Why not just make another series?", but I suppose that decision rests on what is expected to make the most profit.

Regarding movies, if we are sticking with anime, there was one in 2005 (two if you count a short film from the same year), and apparently another one in September 2011.

There's actually 35 OVA episodes. You forgot to add Another Story and Another Story II, both of which are 4 episodes long.

I'm going to guess that the next series to be added will be: Area no Kishi and Brave 10. If not, possible a J drama that I won't recognize as I rarely watch them.

I'll put in Senhime Zesshou Symphogear as a possibility for today. In Japan, distribution is handled by the same company as Milky Holmes, although I don't know if that holds true for international licensing. If it is one, I agree The Knight in the Area (Area no Kishi) would likely be the other.

Also off topic but do u know how many episodes of Beelzebub there will be for winter season? I always thought the series ends @ 50 episode but they might of added fillers to the anime.

Sorry, I don't have any information on its expected final episode count. It could be that they will decide to go the Bleach and Naruto route, and pump in massive quantity of fillers to keep the series running in perpetuity.

50 episodes was always a minimum for the series, so no conflict there. I note the 49th episode is scheduled for January 8, so they will be passing the 50 episode threshold this month.

Brave 10 becomes latest part of CR's Winter lineup

6 slots left for CR to take. I imagine the next anime they will be announcing later today will be: Tantei Opera Milky Holmes season 2.

Damn, I was wrong. The one that was announced today was: Ano Natsu de Matteru. It seems to be another delayed series and judging by the plot, might even watch it

For at least those in the U.S. and Canada looking forward to Milky Holmes 2, you will be able to view it at NicoNico.com at some time in the future:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-01-23/niconico-to-stream-high-school-dxd-symphogear-milky-holmes-2

They also announced they will be streaming both Symphogear and High School DxD. They actually have the first two episodes of the latter posted (as does Funimation, but good luck viewing them, as they seem to have redefined what IP addresses constitute the U.S. and Canada to exclude people in the U.S. and Canada.

UPDATE: As of late Monday night, Nico Nico appears to have finally resolved the problem of rejecting U.S. and Canada IP addresses as being from somewhere else.
