I cannot play many videos on this app. For example: [email protected]

I can play Episode 1 and the latest episode, but none in between. Clicking play only refreshes the page.

Edit: This is happening to a LOT of videos actually. I think the app is broken.

Edit: According to the android market page this version update I just updated it to is not working. Lots of 1/5 stars on there guys. Might want to fix that before it hurts your reputation.

Seems to work for me. What specific device are you using and are you trying to watch over 3G or WiFi?

Samsung Infuse 4G

CrunchyRoll App - Version 0.5.5

Test Subject: The Idol Master - Episode 4 - Changing Oneself

[Play]

"Refreshing data. Please wait."

[Play]

"Refreshing data. Please wait."

[Play]

"Refreshing data. Please wait."

etc.

Edit: It can't be me if almost every review on the android market store is negative and about this very issue.

My phone can use both 4G and WiFi but I have no idea what it is exactly connected to.

Reinstalled and Refreshed it over 10 times. It did not work. Updated flash and nothing.

I think I am using the 4G connection, not entirely sure though.

I think the problem you are experiencing is that the player will auto-close if the connection get's severed. This usually happens when the internet connection is slow/unstable. By default, phones usually just have 3G on while WiFi is disabled. 3G connections are often unstable which causes problems. If you go to your Android wireless settings, there will be an option to turn WiFi on and connect to a network. I would suggest trying the app while on a stable WiFi network connection to figure out whether it's a connection issue on your end.

Though, 1 thing we have done to assist with connection issues is implement auto-resume in the Android app. So, if a video stops midway through, you can just open the episode again and it will automatically resume around where you left off.

The problem isn't it closing while on a video, the problem is it never goes to that video. Some videos it will work fine, others it won't even open. It will refresh forever.

I also have this problem on my

Archos 80 g9 wifi tablet on android honeycomb 3.2.1

All the videos will suddenly stop playing after the 3:00 minute mark and go back to the episode list for anime or drama series I am trying to watch. The auto resume playback does not work either, when i hit play it just plays the video from the beginning.

I am running the crunchyroll android app version 0.5.5 please fix this problem this app is useless to me if i can't even watch any video on it.

I am not sure this is an app issue. I am running the 0.5.5 version as well on wifi with great success. Just completed 3 series within the last two days as well as keeping current with a couple of others as well.

I am I on a Toshiba thrive tablet (wifi only) with android 3.2.

That is not the problem I am having. The problem I am having is when you hit PLAY you see "Refreshing data." and the screen goes black and goes right back to the page asking you to PLAY yet again over and over.

We don't support Archos Tablets as is stated in the description of the app.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.crunchyroll.crunchyroid

Still not sure what is causing the originally stated issue.

Will this be fixed / supported on future app updates?

The problem seems to be that Archos used their own audio/video decoders which can't decode our videos. They are known for doing this in order to charge extra for certain audio/video codecs which they produce. If we change how our videos are encoded, other people may have problems viewing the videos. In order to ensure playback on all Android devices, including ones that don't use Android's built-in video decoders, we would have and test on pretty much every Android device and possibly provide multiple versions of the videos to support certain devices which is not possible for us at this time.

So the decision was to not support Archos devices and only support Android devices that use Android's standard video decoders.
