Protecting your manga

Too late in protecting mine. They keep dropping so they're a little bent.

I reckon a good manga book is like, needing character right? So if you tighten them all up in plastic covers, making them claustrophobic, your manga will be all, 'c'mon man let me outta here', just let them chill around your room/house and pick up and read / re-read them. Best way to roll :3

Well I keep them in a closed shelf so they would not be decolourised by the sunlight. When I read them, I make sure I do it in such a way that I do not cause them to be dog-eared or bent. Nobody else in my house reads manga, so I do not have to deal with others reading (or even touching) them; though I probably would just annoy the person who wants to borrow my manga with a long list of dos and don'ts...

they are perfectly organized on my shelf and probly one of the only areas in my room that stay clean LOLOL. but seriously if anyone touches them at all, its an automatic tantrum. so for someone who is usually relaxed that scares my family. Hah

This was one of the only helpful replies in this thread. I need to come up with a way to keep my manga out of light. I have some first printings of the Bleach volumes and are looking really yellow. Especially ones from 2002. I was thinking of getting polypropylene sleeves for my viz manga. |

I have no manga book, I always read the manga on the website. mostly mangahere.com, and I like to keep them on the bookmark.

While I was in Japan, I bought various types of cloth and cotton containers from the Can Do (100 yen) store. They usually store newspapers, books, and videotapes so I knew that it could handle protecting my manga. I then make sure everytime I bought a book that the cashier leave the wrapper on it or, if they take it off, put a book cover on it. I then put it in a cool corner of the room so it wouldn't get damage. When I moved back to the US, I put then in a drawer so they could stay out of sight and protected. Any plastic or cloth container will do. For extra protection, put a fabric softener or moisture absorption thing near it just in case.

I don't do anything special to protect my manga, I just make sure that I don't bend the pages or the cover. But if some yahoo comes along and spills Koolaid on a manga that I really like, i'll probably buy a bunch of book covers.

Mine were on a bookshelf that was in my room along with my anime DVD's. I didn't know sunlight would yellow the pages. Now I know. My anime and manga are now stored in the junk house because it is junk /trash to my mother.
I don't see any of my dvd's working by the time I get them back. $2000 worth of books, dvd's, games, and a console down the drain. |
