Hi folks.
I was considering reading/subscribing to an anime magazine. I'm under the impression that they contain entire issues of manga. I've tried to research this myself but I'm never sure if what I'm looking at is ever in available in English at all and it's kind of giving me a headache, so what can you experienced folk tell me? I was hopping for manga with yuri as part of it. Thanks! |

...I don't think there are any English speaking magazines available in print anymore. I think Viz's Shonen Jump was one of the last print manga magazines and even they are switching over to digital only, if they haven't already. If you want to read a magazine with manga you'll have to either learn Japanese or use gray-area means of getting manga magazines (scanlations). Maybe there are other English manga magazines in other countries, but I don't know since I'm not really familiar with manga magazines. If I want manga I just buy the book releases.

depends on what you're looking for
Shonen Jump WAS the best for just reading manga as it came out in america. However recently they announced that they'd be turning into a fully online magazine. I'd give it a year before Shonen Jump is gone, since they'd be competing against free online scans. Even if it weren't doomed I still wouldn't suggest it, you get issues later than everyone else, and it's just shonen series, I would have regretted my subscription if it weren't for Psyren. Really the only other one out there is Otaku USA, mainly has reviews of anime series with a section for manga samples, meaning it won't put out the same manga every week. It usually has some pretty interest things, but it can get boring pretty fast, especially if you've already read the manga sample they have. those are really the only ones I've seen/read, I have a feeling there's one ongoing that I'm missing. I would recommend at least reading a few issues of Otaku USA. |

Thank you all of the insight!
I do buy manga but I just started to wonder if following a magazine might be easier. You've all been very helpful. |

I don't see why anyone still reads magazines, what with the Internet and all.

Idk if the other people are like me or not, but I just don't like reading manga online. It just doesn't feel right to read a book or magazine digitally to me....I like to actually hold a book in my hands...but that may just be me |
