I used to read them for free online, but not anymore. I'll sample them at the bookstores and I'll buy if I like it. To not break my budget, I aim for a couple volumes per month.

I read them for free online all the time but when they do come out in bookstores I try to get them as each volume is released. That difference in holding your own collection of manga books is very nice x) I'm also more likely to reread series' if I own it, even if I don't own the complete collection haha

Read them, then buy them. I do not like stealing but there are too less manga shops in my area.

When I read manga for "free" is usually to discover new series. I always try to support the publishers and the authors of my favorite manga. In the other side I was a teenager once too (long time ago ) and my family didn't have much money back then, I had very little money for my entertainment budget, so I don't like to act self righteous because I was there too. I think if you like the author and the series you will buy the original copies eventually.
One of my biggest problems right now is space. I'm really short of space in my apartment and I will be moving in a few months, I don't want physical copies of manga right now. I'm not too sure if I can mention publishers here so I'm not going to do it; from the two big publishers right now one has the digital version of their manga almost half price than the physical version, the other one has the digital version at the same price! I understand that this is a business but I found that extremely overprice when you don't have the printing cost, and the shipping and packaging.

I like to read them in Japanese, and since I live in the USA the cost of buying it all would be enormous. I do read some newer stuff in English though because somehow the internet seems to get Chinese language version first, then an English scanlation of the Chinese version, then the Japanese version. Unfortunately I cannot read Chinese, I should probably learn if I want to make the best use of the internet though.

Sadly, yes. However, that has more to do with lack of a better option. When it is something good and well translated, I will buy the volume the moment it comes out. Soul Eater is a mandatory buy for me. Yen Press is great at translating it in all the right ways, and because of that, I own all 15 volumes released so far and pre-ordered Vol. 16. HOWEVER, when it comes to the Big Three..... Viz sucks. Viz is TERRIBLE at the translations. Just... holy crap. Bleach is okay translated, but I don't like Bleach enough to buy the volumes. The other two though... Naruto is a watered down version of itself. Some of the dumb translations, edits, and censorship in those volumes continually make me face palm. And One Piece still calls Zoro Zolo...... The shite? Most of that series also has really pointless edits and censorship added in. Viz treats everyone like idiots some times... Which is a shame because the older series they brought over like Rurouni Kenshin (which I own all of because of how great it is), and Yu-Gi-Oh! were done VERY well. I just don't know what happened... Maybe when one day it isn't so watered down for "US children sensibilities," I will buy more manga. :/
