I have an app on my phone that lets me read for free. Some of the series I read are not available in america. If they are then when I have the money I try to buy them.

If they are available I'll buy them though I will not buy digital, unless they are Drm free and download to own.

about 90% of manga i buy and only read online the stuff that you can't get in paper form due to being out of print for so many years/ being rare and expensive. I don't mind spending $8 on a volume but spending $60+ on just one that you can read in an hour and a half seems a bit much.

I read online first and if I like it, I would search for a physical copy. If out of print I usually look for the whole series to buy.

*raises hand*

I usually don't buy manga, because collecting volumes is a lot harder than collecting western comics. If I see something I'm familiar with in my local comic book shop though, and I have the funds, I'll usually pick up a book.
Most unfortunately though, my local comic book shop has a pretty weird manga selection. They have a smattering of random volumes from a couple not really well known, not really underground comics (like, Princess Resurrection level popularity), and then like, a whole shelf of obscure BL for some reason. They do collect some classics though, mostly Tezuka's works and then most of the Nausicaa series, and a couple of really large books like Tekkon Kinkreet, which I've picked up a few of.

But I don't really buy manga because collecting a whole series takes not only a lot of money, but a lot of storage room, and buying online sometimes takes the cost up even more. There are a few things I really wish I could own a physical copy of, but it's a lot harder to try and secure a specific volume of jump for a single one shot.

I read online because its fast and has titles not available in Canada.
I have bought quite a bit of manga so I don't feel so bad.
and anyway, If I'm not reading online I'm probably reading at a bookstore there.

Yes, a lot. But if I really like to have it in my collection I buy it.
Such as Ouran, I have the english and RAW versions.

I buy. The feeling of having a book is so much better than a free scanlation on the internet.

Yes.
But if I like it so much, I would buy the volumes of the manga series I was reading online in the nearest bookstore.

I never read online for two reasons. One, I like the experience of reading with a physical book. Two, I feel like with all the free dramas and movies I watch that would be too expensive for me to ship overseas, the least I can do is support the mangaka I like because that is affordable for me. I read manga in Japanese. At least with anime a lot of series are licensed and more affordable to buy in America (or free legally to watch with ads, like on crunchyroll), but not many dramas or movies are.

I read manga online for free all of the time. I do not have the space in my apartment to buy all of the manga I want in print. I do, however, buy some of my favorite series on my Nook through Barnes and Noble. This is only an option is there is an eManga version available though, and sadly, not all of my favorite series have this option. I do still own quite a collection of actual manga books that I bought when I still lived with my parents. I have re-read them many times now haha.

Since I live in Japan I usually buy manga, and the reason why the manga industry in Japan is huge is that every one buys manga.

No, I prefer to buy mine. I've never read them for free.
