Well I usually read manga scan uploaded on the internet. I believe that online translated manga is released earlier than those in bookstore.

Ever since I was about 10, Which is way way too long ago, Starting with tankobon of Ranma Nobon No Ichi. I have Bought manga series since the early 90's. So if something gets transllated by a fan, I will read it. I have about 800 Tankobon in big olde boxes (much to my mother and my wife's annoyance) So I am a full contributor to the industry.

I read online, but I much prefer having the book in my hands and reading. I hate e-readers (for books in general). I try to buy my favourite series, though.

I mostly buy the manga(s) or manhwa(s) I read. Or maybe sometimes I just read it online for free.

I like people too much, or not at all.

You have to pay for manga??
Jk Most of the manga I read never make it to US, so I have to read it online. But I can't read it for free in a bookstore. Its like my library principle. I don't want to read a book that I have to give back. So I just read the last few pages, and if its good I buy it. |

stark700 wrote: Me? I typically read them for free @ this local bookstore that's around 10 min walking distance. It has a medium size collection but some of the more popular ones like Naruto Shippuden, Bleach, Negima, Black Bird, etc etc subbed in english with the latest volumes. I don't trust reading them on internet thou I bet the bookstore just loves you for that.... I used to buy manga in the bookstore. But the only place that sells new manga near me is Barnes&Noble. And they always harass me about joining their membership-discount-whatever-program every time I go. I hate joining programs. So I only buy my manga online (utilizing Amazon's free shipping. Exact price as bookstore--or less--without any hassle.) My library has a lot of manga. They have a lot of volumes you would have to pay $50 now if you wanted to buy for yourself! And they actually listen to my requests to buy new titles. And yes, I do read a lot of scanlated titles. I wouldn't ever borrow manga from someone's personal collection. I wouldn't want to damage it. I take good care of the manga in my hands, but I wouldn't want the risk. |

If you join one of those memberships, then you will get ripped off unless I guess you're a hardcore manga fan and is trying to create a big collection. As on the topic of manga @ bookstores, I would say to buy a collection of volumes if you are VERY interested in it or just want to cause you can afford it. Other than that, I don't really see the point unless you're a manga collector. I read mangas pretty fast anyways so blowing money on volumes is a waste of money for me. I spent my money on other goodies |

I use to read manga at the library and read on the internet. I don't have the time to read manga at the library because of my hectic work schedule so I just buy it on the net
