I read my manga online or borrow it from my local library.
If I really enjoyed a series, I'd go out and buy it all, depending on how many volumes there are.

I work in a comic book/manga/general geek shop, so I get 45% staff discount on comics and graphic novels.
So generally I buy them.
But even with discount, I usually try and buy them preowned in other shops. (I got 6 volumes of xxxholic for less than £10 whereas even with staff discount I'd only get one volume for about £4)

I do read manga for free just because I am super poor and cant afford my own. However, I did have some chances to buy some books. I remember buying Prince of Tennis v4. Then I also bought the first 3 novels of +Anima. I also bought the very first novel of Descendants of Darkness. If I had more money, though, I would definitely invest in more manga books!

Well, I read a lot of manga. Most of it I get for free because nothing from Japan that is ongoing is really translated and released in North America. And when it is released its like 6 months behind (Although Shounen Jump Alpha is now simul-releases). I also own thousands of dollars worth of manga. So I mean sure I read thousands of series for free, but I also buy them when they are released here (Most of the time they never make it here though).

I buy them. Partly because I prefer reading them in book form. I don't feel particularly drawn to manga sites because when I go looking for manga it's in book stores, so I rarely hear about manga that isn't already officially translated and sold. I'm sure I'm missing out on loads but I'm happy with my physical copies.

i have over 150 legal print volumes of manga but i do read for free online mainly ones that will never even be printed or scanalated by legal comps like viz media there are some manga that hasn't been printed yet so i buy the online version like Nisekoi
