I mean I get it, paying helps support the anime industry and blah blah blah, but honestly? A year-long CR membership costs $100. Do you know what I could do with $100?? I could buy a whole cosplay outfit! And sites like NicoNico only make you pay 25 cents a week to view all their content, where as if you bought a CR membership (depending on which one you get) it adds up to 25 cents a DAY.
So, everyone, what do you think? (btw if I have a star next to my name its because ppl give me guest passes.)

Well... it is a paysite like you said so that's why. But any paysite's cost quickly escalates despite how low the cost is. That 25 cents a week, according to my calculations, adds up to roughly $13 a year which isn't very expensive at all. But do they have to pay licensing fees for their videos or whatever? (Not sure if CR does but I'm assuming)

that's just for the all access membership, and there isn't that many shows on site that restricted mainly to the premium members so paying for a membership is up to you, just ask yourself is the price equal to, less than or greater than what service is being offered.

For two years in a row now Crunchy has had a Black Friday/Cyber Monday (Thanksgiving Weekend) deal where you can get an All-Access yearly membership for $50. The catch is that's only for the first year, so you have to make sure you DON'T renew it if you don't want to pay the full price of $100 for another year. And like munchthis pointed out, it's $100 for an All-Access membership. There are cheaper options available and it's not like you HAVE to buy a membership. I like the higher resolution on my computer so I don't mind paying the Black Friday deal price. I certainly wouldn't pay $100 for an All-Access membership (especially since I've never touched the Drama section...). Crunchy isn't really all that expensive if you play your cards right. Otherwise, it's pretty comparable to Netflix/Hulu Plus prices if I'm not mistaken.

the price of the CR membership is not that much. you get instant access to a lot of new shows the minute they release. however the dvd quality would be slightly better.

how many dvds can you buy for $100? now look at how much content you get from CR, its a bargain.

If you had a job that you worked hard at, you'd make $100 a day. A day's worth of work for a years worth of anime. Not much

I'm having a really hard time figuring out if this is a troll or not... 6.99x12 doesn't add up to 100, and 25 cents for the NicoNico membership is very temporary as they are just starting out which is why it's called a Beta membership... when they move into full production I'm sure that rate will go up. NN membership was also, unless they changed it, a one time fee of 25 cents during the beta period only, in which they warn you that after the beta period ends, they will have a different fee schedule set up.

Considering these points...
- Only maybe 1 or 2 seasons of a new series could be obtained for the cost of year long CR membership which amounts from 26-50~ eps.
- A year, 4 seasons of anime, from CR gives you access to, estimating at 20 new eps a week avg(which is low), 1040 eps a year, plus access in HD/Commercial free to the previous back catalog.
- AN charges the same rate for only 1-2 simulcasts a season and a somewhat decent back catalog.
- Funimation charges $1 more a month and only gives you commercial free access and some titles in HD in their back catalog, and simulcasts are handled by NN which will eventually go up to a normal subscription (most likely... although I'm really hoping for a deal of say $10-12 a month for both sites)

Throwing all logic out the window... yes there is a lot of stuff you could do with $100... I like anime, so I spend it on that.

CR is somewhat cheaper than buying a whole lot of box sets and DVDs. Believe me those anime DVD sets which I have to get an American-region ones are really expensive in Australia and so is the Australian box sets.Everything costs a fortune here in where I live but it is not as expensive as Sydney though.

Getting to pay $6-8 in Aus$ every month is really cheap and is really affordable, well, according to my own eyes than getting box sets of animes I want to watch every month that costs me about $400 in just a month (because I'd rather pay for the shit I want to have than to download it in a fansub version because I know it would help the industry and IDREC about the price - lol I'm an anime shopaholic [on a daily basis, all my miscellaneous budget somehow goes to that]) and I would've spent $3000 on a year alone instead of saving me some cash on hand.

I don't really give a crap about Funimation + Nico Nico /Funico because whatever they get, Madman gets (in most cases) so I pretty much idgaf but it kind of affects me because I don't get full range of anime because of them.
