Are you superstitious?
Posted 1/6/12
Do you have certain superstitions? Example:

-Saluting magpies 1 for luck 2 for joy
- Not crossing knives ever = bad luck
- Red and White roses together = blood and bandages (could mean you or someone you love is going to be hurt)
- Gold and Silver together is bad luck
- Touching wood when you say something like "I've never broken a bone"
- Horseshoe over the door of your home for good luck
- Unlucky to walk under a ladder
- Opening umbrellas indoors is bad luck
- Black cats, some believe one crossing your path is good luck and others, bad luck.

These can pretty much be summed up as irrational, I mean what does a ladder have to do with bad luck? And magpies are everywhere in Autumn and Winter so the only way you'll have bad luck is by saluting them all the time while driving and crash into something lol. As for umbrella, why would I open it outside and get wet in the process? My hair being wet and getting frizzy is my idea of bad luck lol.

I like the cat one because I won £50 on the lottery when one crossed my path one day and cats rule so...

Are there any I've missed out on that you believe in?

I'm not superstitious whatsoever. You know that I've stepped on about a trillion cracks on the road and sidewalk and my mom's back is completely fine? People just like to blame the things that go wrong in their life on bad luck and random happenings.

If you are in theater and you say the name of "the Scottish play" you will bring on bad luck . . . .

Macbeth!

Superstitious? Not really.

I am not in the slightest. The whole idea seems somewhat silly to me.

I hung a dream catcher from the ceiling years back, and one night noticed that even though there was no draft, and it had not moved beforehand, it spun around and always managed to follow me. I'm too shit scared to touch it, so it's still up there. It's looking at me right now.

Unless U are punking me, the answer is simple. The thing is an object it canna 'look' at you..but it can creep you out..
Knock it down with an oak stick, branch whatever..
Sprinkle it quickly with salt....burn it in your sink, outside, etc..

Stay away from Ouija boards.

Don't mess with me now...

Cause I like you.

If an object is possessed, it can look at you I suppose.

my dearest young one
possession might spring from say, unkin, into a person....long boring stuff there....

relieve your anxiety about dreamcatcher....smack it, salt it, burn it....OAK!!! use oak..

U will be fine...dreamcatcher is not the boss of you....git rid of it..

of this I know.

You're probably an idiot if you purposely walked under a ladder.

- Not crossing knives ever = bad luck ✔ done that
- Red and White roses together = blood and bandages (could mean you or someone you love is going to be hurt) X don't play with flowers
- Gold and Silver together is bad luck X I'm not black
- Touching wood when you say something like "I've never broken a bone" X didn't know this one
- Horseshoe over the door of your home for good luck X never heard of
- Unlucky to walk under a ladder ✔ check
- Opening umbrellas indoors is bad luck ✔ numerous times
- Black cats, some believe one crossing your path is good luck and others, bad luck. ✔ cats in general are bad luck

I'm not, but my mom is. She actually ran out of a room once because I opened an umbrella inside the house. She yelled saying that I was going to get hit by lightning and she was serious too!

I am over some things, like, I wont pass a graveyard without giving a "nod" or a friendly wave to acknowledge the dead. I used to hold my breath as a kid but someone told me to wave or nod to acknowledge them, keeps them from feeling forgotten.

((Holding your breath, is an old superstition that if you breath in while passing a graveyard you might breath in the souls of the dead))

I also believe in the three folds law, What you do to others comes back to you. Do good, good is sure to follow, be harmful or spiteful then that will follow three times over.

I also knock on wood when I say something that might jinx me LOL

Im sure I have others, and of course I understand they are probably poppycock, but makes me feel better lol
