Moon Chae Won to co-star with JYJ’s Yoochun in new drama?

It’s being reported that actress Moon Chae Won is reviewing a casting offer from SBS‘s upcoming drama, ‘Rooftop Prince‘.

The drama already made headlines after it was revealed that JYJ‘s Yoochun would be starring as the male lead. Moon Chae Won’s agency had stated, “The script was received three days ago and is currently being reviewed.”

While her representatives avoided a direct answer, they did say, “The script is excellent and it’s been put up for consideration.”

The casting offer drew great excitement from drama fans, since Yoochun and Moon Chae Won were both excellent in their respective historical dramas. Moon Chae Won especially has been considered to be the ‘blue chip’ of historical projects recently, thanks to her great performances 2011′s ‘Arrow: The Ultimate Weapon’ and ‘The Princess’ Man’.

“Rooftop Prince” is romantic fantasy drama about a Joseon dynasty prince who lost his princess. 300 years into the future, the prince and his subjects are reborn into the 21st century in Seoul, where he aims to complete his unfinished love in this lifetime.

This drama is aiming for a broadcast date of March 14th, right after the conclusion of ‘Please Take Care of Us, Captain’.

Moon Chae Won Declines Role in Drama "Rooftop Prince".

Moon Chae Won has decided not to be cast in SBS TV’s upcoming drama, “Rooftop Prince.”

On January 16, Moon’s agency revealed through a TV report, “We’ve been reviewing the script for drama ‘Rooftop Prince,’ but have made the final decision not to cast in it.”

An official explained the reason, saying that “after reading the script, we realized that the drama is more sageuk-related than we thought. We decided not to take the role because we wanted to avoid keeping a sageuk image [for Moon], through her recent projects “The Princess’s Man” and "Arrow: The Ultimate Weapon."

The agency continued with, “Miss Moon Chae Won wants to take a break from her busy schedule” and “We will take more time to look carefully for her next project and come back with a familiar and better image.”

Lee Hee Myung, writer of dramas “Mister Q” and “Successful Story of a Bright Girl” will work with PD Shin Yoon Sub, who has directed many popular dramas such as “KAIST,” “Dear Heaven,” “Lovers,” and “Why Did You Come to My House.”

Casting for “Rooftop Prince” has been gaining attention from viewers as it was recently revealed that JYJ’s Park Yoochun has been cast as the male lead. The drama is set to replace “The 3rd Hospital,” and begin airing on March 14. There have been no other castings yet. Stay tuned for more updates

Lee Tae-seong and Jeong Yoo-mi in negotiations for "The Rooftop Prince"

Regarding the upcoming SBS drama "The Rooftop Prince", many are interested in who will make up the rest of the cast along with Micky Yuchun and Han Ji-min.

"The Rooftop Prince" is a fantasy romance about a prince who travels from the Chosun era to 21st century Seoul in order to find his lost love. Micky Yuchun and Han Ji-min have been confirmed as cast and Lee Tae-seong and Jeong Yoo-mi are also likely candidates to join.

However, Lee Tae-seong and Jeong Yoo-mi's managements have replied, "Nothing is sure yet".

Lee Tae-seong's management, Glory MK Entertainment, said, "We did get an offer but there is still the process of dealing with minor matters and we will come up with a decision by the end of this week".

Jeong Yoo-mi's management, Neos Entertainment, said, "We are looking through it with good will. We should have an answer after the Lunar New Year holiday break".

Lee Tae-seong is currently in the MBC drama "Hooray for Love" as Byeon Dong-woo with Lee Bo-yeong, and Jeong Yoo-mi gained great popularity in the SBS drama "A Thousand Days' Promise".

"Lee Min-ho (1993) will play the prince’s teacher, a genius (of course) named Song Man-bo, and the youngest man in history to pass the civil service exam. ...in this case he’s actually younger than the prince he’s teaching, which should make for some funny reversals. His character apparently has a photographic memory, which I don’t think counts as genius, but whatever."

Jung Suk Won to Join Yoochun and Lee Min Ho for “Rooftop Prince”

Jung Suk Won has joined the cast of upcoming SBS drama, “Rooftop Prince,” it was announced today. He will play the role of Woo Yong Sool, a big yet soft-hearted “macho” character. With the addition of Jung Suk Won, “Rooftop Prince” will have a quite powerful casting crew, including JYJ’s Yoochun, Lee Min Ho, and Han Ji Min.

Jung Suk Won’s character is the Chosun dynasty’s best sword fighter, with a ripped body and a big heart that values friendship over anything. But he also has a soft side to him, blushing and turning shy in front of girls.

“I’m honored to join this show. I can already feel the young energy from this drama. Since this role involves both romance and action, I’ll make sure to bring different sides of me to the show,” Jung Suk Won said in a statement.

Jung Suk Won gained the public’s recognition after coming out with his relationship with Baek Ji Young last May. They’ve been dating for over eight months already by the time of the announcement, and have been in a good relationship as they were also spotted shopping and drinking together last month.

Micky Yoochun and Han Ji-min's first script reading.

SBS drama "The Rooftop Prince" had its first script reading.

The entire crew of "The Rooftop Prince" gathered at the SBS Ilsan Production Center and had their first camera tests and script reading. There was a newsbreak about the intense cold outside but the room was hot with the passion of the crew.

Micky Yoochun, Han Ji-min, Jeong Yoo-mi and Lee Tae-seong stood out perfectly in the camera test prior to the reading and the three handsome men who fly into the 21st century from the Chosun times -- Jeong Seok-won, Lee Min-ho-I and Choi Woo-sik -- looked like they were going to make a few women cry.

Director Sin Yoon-seob, writer Lee Hee-myeong and the crew met during the reading that took place in the later evening and applauded the beginning of the drama's filming. Chairman Park Jong from SBS Plus and Kim Yeong-seob, General Manager of the SBS Drama Department, attended the script reading and showed their anticipation.

It is said that although it was just a reading, all the cast did their best as if it was the real scene.

"The Rooftop Prince" is about a prince from the Chosun times traveling into 2012 Seoul in search of a lost romance and will broadcast its first episode in mid-March.
