CR initially had the final episode delayed yet again by another 24 hours, but now they've rolled that back to just over 2 hours from now (6 PM CDT / 3 PM PDT).

That was a beautiful ending, I would love to see some OVAs on Saito and Louise's married life and how Louise reacts to being in Saito's world lol.

But I do have to say this though, the ending showed here in the anime isn't exactly canon and was completely made up since the light novels have yet to end. In fact from what I know, the light novels don't even have the entire battle with the dragon segment shown in the last few episodes, but rather the ending is going to deal with the war between humans and elves.

So if you feel as though a lot of questions remain unanswered or that the ending is rushed, then thats because the author of the story has yet to answer all those questions or the anime skipped out a lot of the segments that were in the light novels (heck they skipped my favorite part in the novel where Saito has to face both Louise's mom and dad in battle lol).

Well, I've yet to read the light novels yet but I do agree the fact that the rushing was a bit rushed this time around especially the first 3 episodes of the very first arc involving Joseph.

Also, did Saito's parents make a debut in the light novels?

From as far as I have read and thats been translated, they haven't actually made their debut. But there was a part after Saito and Louise return from the battle with Joseph to Louise's house where Saito starts talks about his mother in a bit of detail to Cattleya. He says how his mother used to praise him when he got good marks in his tests, when he helped her out with housework and how Cattleya reminds him of his mother.

I have yet to read further, I think one more volume has been translated after that so I'll read it soon. The translation is extremely slow though, Japan is like 5 volumes ahead lol.

Also you would be surprised at how different the meetup of Louise and Saito was back at the end of season 2. Saito didn't just come back himself, he was very hesitant on coming back. Louise and Siesta actually went on a journey and found Saito at Tifannia's home. Louise was so paranoid in fact that she tried to commit suicide only to be saved by Siesta. The anime just skipped and changed all of that.

Ah I see. I did find the ending (episode 12) of season 2 pretty good though but I would of loved to see that. Now, I'm tempted to read the light novels

Yea season 2 ending is still one of my favorite anime endings of all time, but the same thing where Saito charges into battle by himself is much more epic in the novel. The entire fight is explained in a lot of detail, not just animated to 30 seconds lol. In fact the front lines were so surprised by the fact that a child was facing them in battle alone and was able to slow them down that they started respecting Saito for sacrificing himself. After he goes down and they think he's dead, the enemy even hails him as a hero and were about to give him a proper burial but then derf teleports him lol.

Yea I would definitely recommend reading the novels, they are just so good

My only complaint is the jet-jacking. Security must be at an all time low at that base for him to even get within a hundred yards of one, let alone into the cockpit of a ready fighter. I half expected to see someone chasing after him... and that would have made for an interesting plot-fork spinoff, if some pilots from Earth (whether Japanese or American) followed him there, had a wtf moment, and decided it was in their best interests to follow his lead until they had any clue what was going on.

Anyway, VERY satisfying ending. The whole cast was in top form, fighting off dragons. I got a chill of glee when the Elves showed up to help. The moment between Agnes and Colbert pleased me. I cheered when Delflinger showed up on the jet's console. I found their explanation for Saito's survival, the idea that while Lifdrasil does in fact die when his power is depleated... Gandalfir does not have to die with him. And Louise was almost breathtaking in that wedding dress; the artists did very well. All in all, except for the plot gloss here and there to get this ending in (and the fact that we NEVER see Saito's parents, scenes of Saito coming home to parents all "Where the hell were you for two years (or whatever it was)?!" Oh, and I felt the sound mixing was sub-par. But other than that, awesome ep, and a well deserved ending.

I will be buying this on DVD if it comes out. I really want to watch this with sound at full on the big TV.

The ending and the entire season could of been improved. It honestly felt like fillers, when it was supposed to be an ending season. and the ending made no sense. Why would Saito take his 'wife' to his family when he's 15? and don't hey speak some different language since Luoise made Saito understand her in the first episode of the first season. But overall I thought it was OK.

Whatever age Saito is, do you think he should never got back to visit his folks, now that he has the ability to do so at will? And if he goes, do you think he should just not say anything about his wife? Sure that visit might end with "Oh no, our son is insane, and he brought home an insane girlfriend"... that's after his mother nearly dies of shock upon seeing again the son she thought she had lost, of course. Then again, given Louise can open a world door whenever she's able... they can also prove their story. Of course, this opens a massive can of worms, with information beginning to pass between the worlds generally. My problem with the ending isn't that it doesn't make sense (though Saito grabbing a fighter jet felt like a bit of an ass-pull); it's that it leaves open so many questions that would be so fun to explore. Heh, maybe it's time for me to write my first fanfic.

As to the language barrier, there's two ways around it. First off, Saito is most certainly fluent in both languages, and can doubtless serve as a translator. But given Louise accidentally broke the language barrier once when she didn't know what she was doing, though it is possible that only works on her familiar, it is also possible that's just an ability she has as a void mage. Certainly mind-affecting spells are under the Void's purview, given Tiffania's natural ability.

I just finished watching all four seasons in just under four days and I think that it got the ending it deserved, I was very happy with the ending. One thing that got me was how easy Saito actually got the jet fighter but apart from that it was good. Though I think the ending of season two was better, but it was a massive improvement over season three which for me was the worst. Also I'm glad they did a fourth season because if they had left it at the end of season three it would of been a terrible way to end such a good show. Just remembered that I also liked that they actually showed where Saito and Louise went to through the portal because they could have not shown us and have left it as an open ending of where they actually went, but I would like to see some more of this show even though they are not going to make any additional seasons I hope for maybe some OVA's or a movie.

Lol, it's just the way I prefer to watch shows, as in if it has been already completely aired I'll just marathon it. For some shows it helps alot one example even though it's not anime is Spartacus, which the first season is just like a 24 hour long movie. But for the 4 season in 4 days just about half of those have been in the last 11 or so hours. Also got any suggestions for anime's that have some similarities to this one?
