Better than I thought it would be pretty much sums it up. I'm very interested in seeing where this goes and I find I like most of the characters so far.

It shows a lot of promise so I'm going to keep watching.

Only if that site has broken into an office somewhere and stolen a copy before the broadcaster got it, or they invented time travel.

Episode two airs in Japan in 6 days, 18 hours, and 50 minutes from the time I originally posted this.

That "gotta see more" effect is why with some series, I wait until near the end of the season to start watching.

I wasn't even planning on watching this series then seen episode one pop up here on CR. Decided to give it a watch and was surprisingly impressed! The characters are fun to watch and the story looks like it could really be good if done correctly.

I haven't started on this one yet, but since there's so many good comments regarding this anime, I think I'll give it a good go sooner than later ^_^

Copy paste of my ANN post.

The show is finally growing on me. Maybe it's because they're actually doing something that interests me; spaceeeeeeeeeee! I mean, I enjoy the time taken to build up the characters a little but nothing really made me want to care about them. The slow pacing would be nice if I were marathoning this but it'd be pointless to argue about it.

The bits of realism were a pretty nice touch, though. It makes me wonder if the author of the light novel actually did research on the mechanics of space shuttles, ships, or whatever... I do question why or how they didn't drift off into space but the little realism is a very pleasant part of this episode, along with the glorious space background. I'll just let my suspension of disbelief do its work.

lack of fanservice thus far, though.

Space is enough fanservice for me. There were minor "fanservice" scenes in prior episodes though, i.e., the boobie shot of the nurse which lasted a good two or three seconds. Oh, they also focused a bit on Marika's boobies in this episode when she stepped out of the ship. I don't mind the lack of anatomy fanservice in this show though since I can just see glorious tits and a pole dancing ED in High School DxD - gotta stop reading DxD as individual letters... and train my mind to read it as double D's.

This is very different but i'm hooked, at first I thought it was gonna be a literal pirates on a boat sailing the seas with a cute main girl character when I first saw it on the app and then I watched it and it reminded me of gundam 00 for some reason -__-"

This has become one of my favorites from this season. The animation is fantastic, the story is good, and there are plenty of hard scifi elements to keep me happy. This really isn't the piece of fluff that I originally thought it was going to be.

Now that the initial setup is over, it will be interesting to see the real villains come out of the woodwork.

I wish they actually were plundering instead of being more of a reenactment of pirating. It's still a great show but the premise that "everyone's in on the act" is disappointing.

I think it is too early to assume that. Remember they've been taking easy, one-day jobs while training Marika, especially since she's still going to school. I think the pirating will change once she truly becomes captain.

I actually like this series a lot, and like the fact that they are staying away from fan service I think does the show justice, I mean it would be so easy to take advantage of the fact they are wearing miniskirts in space. Yet there hasn't been a single panty shot yet. I mean, there was that scene in the girls locker room, but I didn't find it gratuitous at all.

The fact that they changed it from 'Miniskirt Pirates' to 'Bodacious Pirates' really burns my grits, for some reason. It really shouldn't, but there you go.

I can't watch this yet because I'm too busy trying to watch all the magical girl animes. Are there magical girls in this? Do they have magical fights? If not, I'll get back to this when I'm done with LILPRI.
