How much money do SHAFT have? They've done 3 different OP animations so far for 3 episodes! Keep them coming, but so far Karen's OP is the best.

I liked several aspects of Bakemonogatari:

1. Insane direction. Every few minutes, there would be a ridiculous perspective change, art shift, etc.

2. Some fascinating dialogue. It began to drag a bit around original episodes three and four, but got back on track afterwards. There was a late episode about meeting Senjougahara's parents that had no action scenes, but I still enjoyed it.

3. Looking at the first few chapters of the original light novels, as translated by Baka-Tsuki, it's amazing how much from the novels was adapted into the TV series. Compare what's available at http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Monogatari_Series with the early episodes of Bakemonogatari TV, and see for yourself.

...everything might fall down very, very quickly. It's the type of anime where you make one wrong move when directing, and everything fails. It all depends on how it goes though. If SHAFT concentrates too much on the Harem aspect (which it certainly does look like, from the trailers), it most likely won't be any good...

Train wreck potential is always a problem. Especially with second seasons.

The impression I got from the first season, and from reading the novel translations, was that Bakemonogatari fell somewhere between "supporting harem" and "ironic harem." I thought the main couple was established early on. I figured the other girls either existed just as friends, or existed in order to tease the audience.

Yup, that's how Shaft does their work. It's actually quite unique as they done it before for popular animes like Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and the original Bakemonogatari. I haven't read the light novel of this series yet I'm guessing they're trying to squeeze most of plot into 11 episodes?

Imo, I don't see Nisemonogatari (as of now) or Bakemonogatari as a harem. In harems I have watched, there's usually a linear storyline that involves the main character with many girls. However, in this series, the storyline is divided into arcs similar to possibly to what Amagami SS+ Plus is doing. I do agree what you're saying about the line between supporting harem and ironic harem thou.

^^^

I think thats what Caddyalan was getting at when he called it an ironic harem... Nisen and Bake have all the precursors of a harem, but hes in a defined relationship with Senjogahara. So its kinda ironic that he cant do anything about it even though hes surrounded by girls that are more than willing to ride him raw and put him away wet as the old saying gores. xD

An anime doesnt necessarily have to be linear like a dating sim to be a harem anime. Love Hina is I recall correctly wasnt directly railroading the MC into marrying Hina... That might not be the best example though. lol But most harem anime are linear I agree,

Side by side comparison of the OPs from Nisemonogatari. I noticed more details, other than the obvious colors, which looks pretty awesome.

Speaking of varying OPs and EDs like this, s-CRY-ed did the same thing for their openings. Almost every episode had a slightly different OP, but I think these probably vary a bit more than those did.
