PSYCHOLOGICAL ★ BATTLE
|
UPDATES: ◘ Steins;Gate destroys them shitty ones. ◘ This joke of a tourney has now ended. _______________________________________________________________________________ Anime ★ Battle I know I'm not the only one who's been whoring all the psychological anime out there. I've been in CR for quite a while now and I've seen a lot of members who are into this genre. Well, what's not to like? Death Note, Code Geass, and Higurashi and are some of the most critically acclaimed anime that are sure to hook you. And since Shounen Battle is now over, I thought of creating another tounament. This time, with one of the most loved genres. 1st Place: Steins;Gate Reviewed by Archaeon Steins;Gate is easily one of the better science fiction anime to appear in the last few years, and while there are areas that could have been improved upon, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Steins;Gate is an enjoyable romp in the realms of implausibility that delivers on several levels, and while the happy ending may not sit well with everyone, the conclusion to the story does offer a degree of catharsis. MAL Score: 9.15 /10 ANN score: 9.135 /10 A-P score: 4.641 /5 AniDB score: 8.91 /10 2nd Place: Death Note Review by Xyik Death Note is definitely one of the best anime series of all time, for it presents a deeply unique and compelling story rivaled by few. The suspense was amazing, and it got me thinking. Anyone who finishes this anime will be forced to wonder about what they would have done with a Death Note. Many of them will question and argue about the actions of Light. It is this talkable and complexity that makes the anime shine, in addition to its ability to carve suspense and anticipation into its viewers. I have never seen an anime as good as Death Note, and I highly recommend this anime to be watched. You may hate it (although very few seem to), but it is definitely an anime you must TRY. MAL Score: 8.84 /10 ANN score: 8.864 /10 A-P score: 4.52 /5 AniDB score: 8.89 /10 3rd Place: Monster Review by TheCriticsClub From its brilliant characters with outstanding development, to its well-paced story and realistic setting, Monster will leave you on the edge of your seat. Finding a show like this is a real treat, and whilst 74 episodes may seem daunting, it is utterly worthwhile in light of the great journey taken. The show’s dramatic storyline and intrigue filled atmosphere will keep you guessing, thinking, and feeling. The complex issues and relationships addressed throughout mark this as one of the most unique anime to appear in many years, and the questions it asks should be confronted by everyone at least once. Monster is a true rarity in anime. The quality of its story, cast and production have earned it widespread acclaim, even garnering it plaudits from the “hate what’s popular” clique. It is both entertaining and enlightening, and the sheer depth of the series has led to it being widely regarded as a modern classic of anime. MAL Score: 8.77 /10 ANN score: 8.796 /10 A-P score: 4.385 /5 AniDB score: 8.65 /10 4th Place: Mirai Nikki Review by Fate25 "Mirai Nikki" has a great plot. A psychological thriller with gore is not your typical anime. Most of the time anime makers would turn away from such bloody twisted story for the fear of censorship and lack of young viewers. However "Mirai Nikki" is a great watch for anyone above 16. Everybody can enjoy the suspense of a good thriller and be hooked to the various character developments and plot twists. MAL Score: 8.34 /10 ANN score: 8.131 /10 A-P score: 4.433 /5 AniDB score: 7.87 /10 Rules ** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show** ►When voting, you must select ONE anime, not both. ►Vote only once per matchup. ►This voting will all be done PUBLICLY, meaning post your votes in this thread. ►25 votes must be cast in the round in order for us to move on to the next round. ►First anime to receive 13 votes wins. But the round will continue until all 25 votes are counted. ►You have to explain why you pick a certain anime. A brief one will do. ►Time Limit - If in 24 hours the vote count of the 2 anime in the match hasn't totaled to 25, the match will be ended, and the anime with the higher votes will be considered the winner of the round. ►Refrain from posting off-topic material. Wasn't surprised when I saw this as it was mentioned awhile but here are my picks
Your 10 picks 1. Elfen Lied 2. Higurashi 3. Death Note 4. Future Diary 5. Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom 6. Hell Girl 7. Darker than Black 8. Umineko 9. Deadman Wonderland 10. Puella Magi Madoka Magica Probably a lot more than that but only ones I can think of right now. I highly suggest Elfen Lied, Higuashi, and Death Note thou as those 3 are probably the well known series. Puella Magi Madoka Magica is one of the recent popular series so might try that as well. Might edit list later |

When it comes to Japanese Psychological cartoons, all else pales in comparison to the almighty MONSTER.
Although my personal favourite is 20th/21st Century Boys, but that awesome series has yet to be animated. |

I love this genre, though i do realise now that i have yet to watch many which are being listed by others here....like code guess, xxholic, chaos head etc...
I don't know if all the animes that i list here, can be defined as psychological, but still they twisted my mind somehow, so they are worth being mentioned i think :D 1. The Twelve Kingdoms 2. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni 3. Death Note 4. Deadman Wonderland 5. Umineko no Naku Koro ni 6. Kaiji 7. Hunter x Hunter 8. Elfen Lied 9. Phantom 10. Darker Than Black (11. And then there was this anime where its cover had two twin brothers or something; one with white angelistic wings, the other with black wings. Where one of them become evil after one incident and a "battle" starts. I remember this as a really good anime, too bad i forgot its name. If you may know it, then please do tell me. Thanks!). |

Uh, my listing of psychological anime really depends on what other genres your going to have later on.

Haha. Like you've all found out some shows might go better in other genres. Some shows might overlap depending on the genres of any future tournaments you're planning. So I would assume some are more "psychological" than others but we need to know what other genres there are before making suggestions.

So I would assume some are more "psychological" than others but we need to know what other genres there are before making suggestions. You don't need to worry about that. Just as long as an anime has the "psychological" feel to it, you can list it. And if ever I'm doing more of these tournaments, I don't think it's bad if a certain anime repeats. Tbh, I have Code Geass and NGE included. And both of which are also mecha. |
