aye... those weren't red hearings nor where they pointless she was teacher connected to the class and former student as long as some relates to class 3 the curse will happen. Rekio was killed by student from her class there is no way around that and became the another due the curse it's self. It's a pass on type curse bro which is easy to explain the spirit takes over some one that died that year and uses them at the catalyst it's basic Japanese horror 101. The only reason it changed was because reiko was brutally murdered and the curse saw her as the perfect host to trick people/carry it on. My only complaint is this... who the hell killed reiko 1 1/2 years ago and why?? That's something i will not dispute they dropped the ball on. If you didn't like fine I did you will not change mind and i don't want to start a damn flame war. Until the reveal, they had just as much legitimacy to be red herrings as the clues and hints about any of the other characters. I don't care if its Japanese horror, American horror, Scottish horror, Ugandan horror, etc. In any mystery, if you make a big change-up, contrary to previous established facts, at the end just to create a twist ending, then its bad writing. It's not even bait and switch. It's just switch. The conclusion of a mystery should entail all the clues and facts that are put forth from the beginning, not just the ones that support the conclusion and pretending the others don't exist anymore. If you want to disagree with me, that's okay, but no one is going to convince me that this ending isn't hack writing. |

If you cannot be a hero in this rotten world, why not be a villain instead?

I love how they practically told you who the Another is, and then promptly threw out several red herrings to cover up who the real dead person is. Fucking genious.
Also, I love how everyone keeps using "red herring" after I used it. xD |

I agree with the person saying its a comedy (it is funny in parts), especially with Sakaki standing in that inferno talking to Mei. lol I was like wtf... I kept expecting timbers to fall on him like that chandelier did to the fleeing students.
It also seems like they got lazy with the last two episodes. All the deaths were rather meh. Except my all-time favourite of the one girl getting hung and then spewing liquids all over. |

The last two episodes were pretty insane with the sheer number of deaths and madness. It was a pretty suspenseful anime but I did kind of find parts of it funny like Cecil's above two gifs even though they weren't supposed to be. I always thought of Reiko as a suspect since near the beginning. Makes you wonder who exactly killed her too. I don't feel like the problem was completely resolved either as they only managed to stop the deaths for their year while it could continue in another year if the countermeasures fail again. A good anime overall though if you're a fan of the mystery/horror genre.

![]() Izumi is such a fantastic girl. I'm glad she managed to make it through that series without dying - she threw up a lot of flags in that last episode, but she managed to pull through anyway. I especially liked the ending, where everyone realized what a terrible character Mei was, so Sakakibara decided to hook up with Izumi was good. The last scene, where the two of them kissed on the ferris wheel, looking down at the town was really romantic. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who teared up a little bit. She gets things done. She's a girl who has the lives of all of her classmates riding on her shoulders. She carries that weight and won't let it break her. She values the lives of other people - she cares about what happens to them, and as they start dying, the knowledge that she's partially responsible starts to build up on her shoulders. But does she give up? No way. She just keeps going along, trying not to crack under the pressure. This comes as a contrast to Mei, who, when Sakakibara talked to her, decided to talk back, dooming her classmates to a horrible death. She even knew who the extra was all along, but rather than say anything, she decided to let even more people die. In the end, the only reason she bothered to go stop the extra is because her classmates finally decided to kill her; she might not care if other people died, but once her life was in danger, then she'll do something about it. She's selfish and a sociopath. Izumi however, didn't hesitate. She went to kill the extra when she (thought) she knew who it was. She wasn't going to let anybody else die. She's smart, beautiful, nice and mature. And to top it all off, she's a god damned hero. She's a fantastic girl. And I for one am very glad that, rather than dying a senseless death in the last episode, she instead survived and hooked up with Sakakibara. She earned that little slice of happiness. |

One interesting thing to do is look at various rules for mystery writing.
Chandler's rules: http://www.thrillingdetective.com/trivia/triv116.html Knox's rules: http://www.thrillingdetective.com/trivia/triv186.html Van Dine's rules: http://gaslight.mtroyal.ca/vandine.htm You can probably find different rule sets if you look around. One blogger used Knox's and Van Dine's rules in this analysis: https://meepinganime.wordpress.com/2012/03/19/another-knox-and-van-dines-rules-of-a-mystery/ It's worth reading. Another was a fun blend of Horror and Mystery. While it may have violated some mystery rules, it still was an entertaining series. I'm looking forward to a sequel. Alas, poor Akazawa. You'll be missed. |
