Hmm, rather doubtful about this one. Just how does a situation like that end up "romantic", or does that mean "twisted"...?

But still, another title for my area, and most importantly for me, it is the only ecchi one! I can look forward to watching eight whole new titles this season. I remember a few seasons when I was frustrated that roughly half of the new simulcasts in my area were shows I couldn't enjoy because of the ecchi factor.

This is the #1 show I want to watch this season so I'm glad they pick it up. I was a little worried no one would pick it up.

Well, gj on CR for getting the series although I'll be watching "Waiting in the Summer" instead of this. I'll definitely consider coming back to watch this anime once it's done airing thou

2/13 anime this season, with both being 3 minute long. So it's fansubs and ripsubs only this year for me. With this trend in next season you have to decrease licensed regions for already available shows...

Looks like this is it for the season, so unfortunately no Milky Holmes.

On the one hand, there was no "Are we done with announcing? Maybe, but then again...maybe we aren't..." as with Inu x Boku, but I didn't really detect an air of finality, either.

While there was no "??" at the end of the new titles listed in the initial message, that was also true in the topic for Inu x Boku. Likewise, there is no "?" box on the lineup page, but that was initially true for Inu x Boku as well.

The conclusion I draw from this is that CR is not ready to declare the lineup complete, but is considerably less confident they will be able to add any additional titles.

While I am more concerned over the bad precedent not getting the second Milky Holmes series sets than the series itself, I understand the possible reasons for it. The absence of Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (Daily Lives of High School Boys) is actually more confusing to me.

I'm almost wondering if they didn't get Milky Holmes 2 because the first season didn't do well here, and maybe it did so well in Japan that it made working out a deal too difficult. Like Funimation with Higurashi in that the first season didn't sell well here in the states so they didn't option to pick up anything further. I just saw the first ep of the 2nd season of Holmes and now wish that CR had gotten it as it's way better than season 1 so far.

I had read about this one somewhere last night so I wasn't too surprised to see it today, but still very happy.

Daily lives of high school boys is also an odd one to be missing like you said. From the first episode it seems like something that would be perfect for CR to have. Maybe they are just still working on it, I dunno, maybe Funimation is in the process of making another late to the game deal for a package on the rights to the show and they will late cast it by 3 weeks like Tomodachi.

Let's view the table of anime availability in Europe again:

UK, Ireland: 9/13
Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands: 7/13
Iceland, Spain, Portugal, Turkey: 4/13
Other European countries: 2/13 (both 3 minute series)

Conclusion: Yes, it sucks for most of Europe.

Crunchyroll had a very good chance to get worldwide rights for Milky Holmes 2 and Daily Lives of High School Boys. Maybe there is still a tiny chance these series will be added.

Its always sucked for most of Europe. The bright spots were Scandinavia and the UK, and it seems likely that some of the licenses that didn't go to the UK will be on Anime-On-Demand. And while Sweden, Norway and Finland did worse than a year ago, they did about as well as last season, 5.2 vs 5. when if they had been locked out of all sublicenses like before they would have taken another knock down. Plus the tendency to notch out Denmark seems to have settled down.

I count the 3min series as 0.1 of a series, and around the world I get:

100%: North America
83%: South Africa
73%: Australia & NZ
64%: Brazil, UK&Eire
55%: Spanish America and the Caribbean
46%: Scandinavia, Finland, and the Netherlands
20%: Turkey and Portugal
2%: Middle East, rest of Africa, rest of Europe, Asia outside of Japan

We don't know that they did. We know that Crunchyroll bids for everything, but we don't know whether after the success of Milky Holmes 1 in Japan whether the licensor was willing to accept a bid that reflected the kind of views Milky Holmes 2 was likely to get on Crunchyroll.

Crunchyroll "picks" every single series ... which ones that they get and for which countries depend on which licensors agree to their bid.

Maybe after the success of Milky Holmes 1 in Japan, the licensor was expecting a similar increase in the bid from Crunchyroll, and refused the license when Crunchyroll made a bid based on how well Milky Holmes 1 had done at Crunchyroll.

Or maybe they are still negotiating. Crunchyroll is not going to add something to their roll-out lineup until they are sure they are going to get it. They had one season with an overoptimistic lineup, and seem to have learned from that mistake to not put up a [?] box until they are certain that they have the series.

I expect you would be complaining just as much if those two short form anime were full length, but something you had not interest in.

It is also ironic that the reason the series you are complaining about not being here isn't, no doubt has much to do with its popularity (or lack thereof) at CR vs. in Japan.

If CR simply "picked" series, and based those picks on how popular they were expected to be, or in this case, how popular the previous series was, few people would have been expecting Milky Holmes to be here. Like it or not, its streaming numbers were reported to be the lowest for any series that simulcast season (Fall 2010).

Instead, CR makes an offer on each series, and the licensor either turns it down (because they already have deal, or expect one with someone else, or don't want it streamed, or want more up front than CR is willing to pay), accepts the offer, or makes a counter-proposal that CR accepts.

Can one of the people who work at Crunchy confirm if its 26 episodes or not? The page here says its 26, but the official Japanese website says its 12 episodes plus a dvd only 13th episode.
