Woo, exciting! I'm glad you were able to make this upgrade. 720p streaming was already tiers better than life of the past, this is all the more amazing. My 1080p monitors were made for anime! (okay, exaggerating out of excitement XD)

To the people saying finally and about time, you guys realize Hulu and Netflix don't even have 1080p yet right? and they are 2000x times bigger then Crunchyroll and have 100,000x more money for stuff like this. Be Grateful!

I've been enjoying Netflix in 1080p and 5.1 surround sound on my PS3 since 2010.

What... Are u trolling us or what?
It doesn't even air in 720p sometimes, so why streaming 1080p? Too much bandwidth leftovers? >_>!
This is like: Hai, we will listen to our members and license some great shows, but let us do something 'even bigger'! Let's stream 1080p that doesn't even air or produced...
Bad move... bad move...

Free 2-day guest passes:
- http://www.crunchyroll.com/guest_pass?code=9BEYY48J Already Redeemed
- http://www.crunchyroll.com/guest_pass?code=W366Y0QX Already Redeemed
(why strikethrough don't work?)

As after this season most simulcast are not available in my region, I would see it by increase of availability 1080p from non-legal sources.

I don't watch anime on TV, so I can't really see differences. As not all computers could handle 1080(for example my laptop) i would be glad if you also increase quality of lower resolutions.

This season is the worst...

Meh... there is a reason that fansub groups haven't distributed anime in anything higher than 720p, except for Blu-ray releases... go dig up the arguments if you want, I can't be arsed to go over them. I'll be saving my precious bandwidth, anything above 720p for anime is a flat out waste.

These are all just up-scales that most won't be able to tell the difference, and some would argue even look worse. Just an upgrade to 10-bit encoding would make the videos at 720p look better, the comparison screenshot that I saw from an earlier post just looked like it was over-sharpened.

I love most the things you guys do, this however, meh... at least you didn't decide to jack up membership costs for it.

Thanks Crunchyroll! Although the perfect upgrade would've been 10-bit, this is also great!

Crunchyroll is not upscaling ~ they only are doing it if they have the 1080 resolution material.

It might be upscaled by the Japanese for their own digital HD broadcast, but people who don't want it don't have to pick it.

This kinda makes me wish they offered a "Progressive Download" streaming option. Considering my connection is at the borderline of barely keeping up, it's difficult to purely stream even 720p alone (blame Verizon for failing to install fiber optic cables in my area forcing me to stick with DSL as the fastest internet in my area). I also agree with everyone who would've preferred a 10-bit upgrade over 1080p.

I understand the time is ripe to go 1080p considering how they're starting to unveil 4k, but even then 1080p alone is kind of impractical. "Progressive Download" streaming options or a 10-bit upgrade may have been a little more worthwhile. I do appreciate the gesture of having the option of 1080p available, though!
