If these bills were to be accepted, they WILL affect the whole world, not just America.
Youtube and Facebook have their servers in USA, they would get hurt alot by these bills. Just to mention to sites that is legal, and alot of the world uses them.

It would start with the internet, but my real question is where will the censoreship end? Would it simply stay constrained to the online world or would it be let out and be allowed to roam freely in everything? Once you begin to censor one thing how long does it take before you include more. Anyone here play Mirror's Edge besides me? Well I'm beginning to fear that that world is attempting to be brought about.

Image is from Deviantart, a site that would most likely also be affected by the bill.

I see everyone here gets it. Many laws that can get passed rely on "incrementalism". It takes time to accomplish the goal of censorship. SOPA and PIPA are building blocks toward it.

Keep up the good fight against these!

Two bills before Congress, known as the Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House, would censor the Web and impose harmful regulations on business. Millions of Internet users and entrepreneurs already oppose SOPA and PIPA.

The Senate will begin voting on January 24th. Please let them know how you feel. Sign this petition urging Congress to vote NO on PIPA and SOPA before it is too late.

"Fighting online piracy is important. The most effective way to shut down pirate websites is through targeted legislation that cuts off their funding. There’s no need to make social networks, blogs and search engines censor the Internet or undermine the existing laws that have enabled the Web to thrive. Too much is at stake – please vote NO on PIPA and SOPA."

End Piracy, Not Liberty

Apparently:

Three co-sponsors of the SOPA and PIPA antipiracy bills have publicly withdrawn their support as Wikipedia and thousands of other websites blacked out their pages Wednesday to protest the legislation.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) withdrew as a co-sponsor of the Protect IP Act in the Senate, while Reps. Lee Terry (R-Neb.) and Ben Quayle (R-Ariz.) said they were pulling their names from the companion House bill, the Stop Online Piracy Act. Opponents of the legislation, led by large Internet companies, say its broad definitions could lead to censorship of online content and force some websites to shut down.

In other words, voices are being heard and SOPA has become one of the most disgusting word introduced so far this year.
