Hopefully the bill won't actually happen since it basically stop any kind of freedom of speech and expressionism online. The majority of people are very angry about this and Wikipedia has already contributed to protesting.

These bills(SOPA & PIPA) would affect the whole world if they were to be accepted.

Crunchyroll wouldn't be blocked unless they went back to how they used to operate back in their ultra piracy days. Most people are taking this way past the scope and intent of the bill and assuming that if you have a Bleach avatar someone is going to come kicking down your door and lock you in Guantanamo for a secret tribunal.

That's the problem though, the contents of the bills are so vague that abuse of power like that can happen. It's not Crunchyroll's videos that are the problem, but the user base. If even one person posted a link to a piracy site, Crunchyroll could be shut down.

To quote another user.

Simply press esc as the article is loading and it wont redirect to the black out message

So you can still use Wikipedia, it will just be very tedious and annoying. Just like intended I guess.

Crunchyroll is legal and get permission to post anime though, I doubt it will be blocked.

Sorry did you draw your avatar yourself? No? Well you have just violated SOPA and PIPA and the US Govt can now Blacklist and go after crunchyroll for violations.

That is how open this law is. User content is applied to the owners of the website, so you get a troll posting images or anything and they actually have the right to sue, close down, or block any website.

I had this weird epiphany. I had internet troubles the other day. Whilst I was going home from work, I saw a building out of the corner of my eye that I almost forgot existed.
Do you know what it said above the door?

LIBRARY.

Turns out they even do free internets now, but they also have that archaic printed word stuff. Lots of info though
Just kidding - but seriously, libraries are underrated and underused.

Back on topic
Frankly Governments both in America and across the globe take far too much control and make far too many ambiguous laws and bills that affect peoples rights far too easily. I'm all for people being able to protect your intellectual property (hell, I've had to protect mine a few times) but when the/a government can freely interpret their own 'laws' in such a way that it allows them to directly influence the media available to the public...that's taking the piss.
It wouldn't go down well if they passed a law in the UK which could be interpreted as making it illegal to practice a certain religion. And yes before its said, I realise outlawing a religion or someone's fundamental beliefs is a far cry from stopping a few million people pick up a few dodgy (or indeed legitimate) episodes of Anime, the principal is the same.
That said I've not read a thing about this other than what's posted here and I really can't be arsed with following links to petitions that aren't interested in the opinions from the UK, but I wish those in the US the best of luck in reigning in the sneak-thieves they have in power (or at best getting them to clarify it and tie their own hands).

Damn, I was thinking of the streaming and not the forums >.< This is THE most ridiculous bill I've ever heard of, it's far worse then the privacy bill here in South Africa is bitching about. I'm so pissed off

Okay, I'm not sure if this is true, but apparently if they get passed you can get fined or sued for even posting singing covers on youtube...

These bills better not be passed.
DONT TAKE AWAY OUR FREEDOM!!!
