Guys, believe it or not, CRUNCYROLL WILL BE AFFECTED. Yes, crunchyroll pays and has the right for their shows. However, you users - how many of you have post pictures or videos of animes, movies or any media that crunchyroll doesn't have right to? This includes Kpop pictures, Jpop pictures and music, Anime that Crunchyroll don't have. JUST BECAUSE OF THIS, CRUNCHYROLL AS A WHOLE COULD BE TAKEN DOWN.

Want to support this act and not in US? http://americancensorship.org/modal/state-dept-petition

I really can't believe this.

And I financially support the anime industry SO much. I have a huge collection of DVDs, manga, and merchandise. When I watch an unlicensed series, I plan on buying it.

Take Higurashi for example. It was licensed. Then stopped. And now I can't get it or the other series anymore because they were refused to get licensed. Yet they still sell Higurashi merchandise at cons. Hey, I'm going to keep watching Higurashi, and when someone else picks it up, I'm definitely buying it!

If these acts are enforced, we are going to be forced to live only off of the little scraps that the American companies are giving us. I mean, I applaud Funi and Viz for their free, legal video portal sites, but come on! There's so much anime out there that they'll never even pick up!

And besides.....I definitely agree with the fact that this is going too far and has huge potential for abuse. I'm all for the protest. I mean, sure, I think piracy is wrong. I buy all my music and movies and whatnot....But this total censorship thing is going to kill the internet.

Check out the above link. The politicians are trying to distance themselves from the bill because of today's "massive blackout"

It nice people are talking about this, but really you should do your research, these bills are already dead. The House SOPA is not even going to vote, and PIPA in the senate already has enough people against for it to fail. In the event it should pass, the Obama Administration has already announce they will veto it.

I would be more worried about the internet provider companies wanting to charge people who use streaming service a higher monthly rate, because they use more bandwidth a month than a normal user.

May not affect CR right now and may only be US legislation, but you can be dern sure if something like this passes in the US it is only a matter of time before it ramps up everywhere else.

This legislation is going to fail right now because they are trying to take too big of a bite of the internet cookie. They forgot how the government is supposed to work. Take your liberties one small piece at a time so you don't notice. After this legislation fails, they will revert to the slow process of bleeding internet "rights" until the government controls it. That's what the government does with everything.

Crunchyroll is not immune, everyone. Under SOPA/PIPA, websites would be liable for user content. Here's a couple examples:

1. Someone's avatar is a copyrighted image of which they do not have permission to use.
2. Someone links to something that is in violation.

Either of these things could get Crunchyroll taken down. Basically, just having a forum like this is a risk under SOPA/PIPA.

Can I remind you all who's adminstration this is happening under? Suppose Obama comes out one day and says he's supports this?

We have yet to hear his stance on it so that's why I'm throwing it out there. Here's another reason why I threw it out:

http://www.deadline.com/2012/01/exclusive-hollywood-moguls-stopping-obama-donations-because-of-administrations-piracy-stand/

I dunno about you people, but if this doesn't prove that the majority of hollywood is in the tank for one party then I dunno what is. Anyway, what hollywood is doing is basicly threating Obama here by not supporting SOPA/PIPA.

They expect us to watch their 95% crap movies (at least these days they are) and glorify them the way the media does when they support taking away more of our freedoms? I find it funny how they support this even though the likes of YouTube made Justin Beiber a star (don't worry, I don't like the guy ether).

Just some stuff here to think about. I've been saying before to not vote for anyone that supports SOPA/PIPA. Well I'm also hoping that many of you boycott hollywood too by not giving a dime to movie theatres or watching television.

Its not really over yet if it gets pass because if it does pass then Obama has to choose to veto it or not and knowing him he WILL Veto it without blinking an eye, but better to kill the bill now :3
