Pretty self explanatory.

What does the new Naruto Simulcast on Hulu+ mean for Crunchyroll?

Are the days of Naruto on Crunchyroll numbered?

Will Naruto fans have to get Hulu+ in order to watch new episodes of Naruto?

Chime in.

Also, if this is discussed elsewhere please feel free to Moderate away.

I believe the Naruto episodes on Hulu are delayed by a week... or at least that's how it was with Bleach and Naruto on ANN/Hulu.

Ya, they are delayed and if ur not subscribed on their site..every epiosde contains 2-4 mins of ads. Its visual quality is probably 480p worth. In other words, CR Membership > Hulu.

I'm not exactly sure how their membership works thou but they do have alot of other tv series beyond anime.

If they are advertising them as a "Simulcast" then they can't be delayed for Hulu+ members.

At least not delayed much later than they are on Crunchyroll.

Which is to say the delay that it takes to sub the episode.

You can see this by going to Hulu+ and looking at what their latest episode is. Which, like Crunchyroll is episode 245.

Yes, I saw that... thank you for the link.

Animation Magazine also posted on Facebook about this.

However, what does this mean for Crunchyroll?

Doesn't mean anything tbh except that both sides gain profits and are operating legally because CR premium members' payments are going towards the distributors.

Hulu is more focused on TV shows like Angel, Knight Rider, etc. The anime is just a bonus while CR focuses on anime and J-drama that are streamed here.

oh hell no , i'm upset that they are allowed to have Naruto simulcast too now. Naruto and Bleach is couple of CR's bread and butter shows; I've also tried out HULU+ and their advertisements on each show is disgusting; like 4 3-minute advertisements for each 20 minute episode.

Consider the following:

1. Hulu Plus is currently available only to those in the United States

2. Hulu Plus has ads, Crunchyroll Premium doesn't.

What this really means is that the only people that would watch it on Hulu Plus are those that don't have a CR Premium membership, but have a Hulu Plus membership for other reasons. Also, as Hulu has a higher "mainstream" profile, some people that aren't aware of CR may watch it there.

Assuming the episodes roll off after one week to the standard Hulu service, it would actually prove stiffer competition for CR's free membership, as Hulu offers 480p to free members, and both services have ads.

Just another website to host for naruto, for people who have crunchyroll membership they aren't simply going to cancel the membership and switch to hulu.

etc.. you get the rest

So, you don't think this might be a precursor for Crunchyroll loosing the Naruto Simulcast license?

No.

First, Hulu is U.S. only. The last I checked, CR had licenses for other countries for Naruto Shippuden.

Second, TV Tokyo is the listed publisher for Naruto Shippuden on CR, while Viz Media is the listed publisher for it on Hulu.

1080p and WORLDWIDE vs 720p (?) and ''the content's not available in your country'' for everyone except American citizens

guess who won in my eyes...
