It's been my favorite anime from the start (along with it's predecessor), the characterization was brilliant, the fighting was one of the most well choreographed in cartoon history, the art was highly stylized and charming. The soundtrack was also great (dubbed or original, doesn't matter). I'd say my favorite sagas were the Frieza and Cell Saga, they were near writing perfection, especially the Cell Saga since the Frieza Saga dragged for too long. It does rile me up though when people dismiss it as just a mindless slugfest of arc fatigue and grunting, intergalactic muscle men trying to take a dump.

Ye, probably one of the first animes I've watched. My opinion on it are ok. I kinda skipped the Frieza Saga and focused mainly on Cell Saga that was written very well. The Majin Buu saga were ok but not too well done imo compared to the previous. I've only seen 2 DBZ movies and those were really old school. GT kinda sucked imo, I kinda regret watching it.

At first when i thought about it, DBZ was my first anime until i remembered when i was about 6 or 7 my mum accidentally rented the Ninja Scroll movie for me and my brother and cousin to watch. she thought it was just another cartoon. i think she turned it off when the big stone guy rapes the chick.
What actually got me into anime when i was 19 was Avatar legend of aang. i watched all 3 season in prep for the live action movie. which turned out to be a big pile of shit |

DBZ is the first anime I watched and still love it today! It is very OTT but that is what makes it so good.
Re-watching it atm through the Kai series and it's great to not have all the filler in it |

Hate DBZ, in my book its not even anime (yes, I KNOW its anime).
Starblazers introduced me to anime when I was little, Cowboy Bebop reintroduced me to it when I became an adult. |

BlackAfro wrote: It seems like many on crunchyroll have ventured into the anime world with DBZ but do any of us like it? I for one thought it was ok but everyone took too long to do anything. I would not go out of my way to watch it but if it was on TV i would sit and enjoy :D Mmhmm. I agree. I'd only watch it if it was on TV. |

I started DBZ when it was airing in America on episode 2 back in oh...... 1990s? It was so long ago but it felt so epic. I loved it and it brought me into the world of anime for sure.

It came on T.V when I was young, so I don't really remember it. Other than that I've never actually watched it, I remember bits and pieces of it though. What actually really got me into anime was Inuyasha.
