First of all, remember we are deling with kids... From what I have witnessed as a teacher, bullying is a horrible thing that you can't get around, the laws prevent me from doing anything other than a parent teacher conference.. if you can get them to go to a counselor at the school, it is a different story. It is sad that a boy lost his life, but in the pictures i see something different.. the "bully" is in a nice tux taking a picture of himself with an iphone. The "victims" picture is a yearbook photo it looks like... different ethniticities, and if you purely judged by the pictures... the "bully" is the classic rich kid that has money and picks on the poor. plus 2 years older. i see it alot when i am offering a box of hamburger helper or rice a roni to a student to be able to eat... and they get picked on and made fun of because the "more well off" kids make fun of their clothes and riding the bus, etc...." after years of this i see how it could pent up into malice towards 1 person for many bullying. It was self defense. If you want to look at it at a good angle, be grateful he just defended himself and didn't take it out on other innocent people. Not saying it was the right thing, but self denfense seems like the right notion after reading the court reports on other websites.

Oh god.....If I was bullied and couldn't do anything about, I would still pound the crap out of him to see him suffer, but killing him? Oh no. I honestly don't know what to say about this. Mixed feelings (Nuno's parents should have raised him better. :L)

Lets be clear the one who did the stabbing was the victim, the one who got killed was perpetrator.

Details most people didnt notice

1) The victim(who was 2 years younger than the bully) got off the bus early to deliberately avoid a confrontation, the bully and his buddies FOLLOWED him
2) the bully punched the victim in the head more than once, while the victim attempted to flee

If these were adults noone would even be asking whether it was self-defense.
Its not murder if its not unlawful- Its justifiable homicide.

Well, this was an interesting article.

I have mixed feelings about this. Yes, I hate bullying also and should not be tolerated. However @ the same time, killing the bully by fatally stabbing the guy 12+ times was a bit overkill. It's also being disputed if he (Dylan Nuno) was an actual bully?

Dylan Nuno’s family and friends have defended the teen, saying repeatedly he was not a bully and in fact transferred from Lely High School to Palmetto Ridge to escape taunting himself.

Anyways, he's not going to come back regardless what happens now. I do think that if Jorge Saavedra had mental issues regarding this incident, then another trial should be necessary.

OT: Hope u get better chrome. Eat that noodle soup and maybe get that vaccination shot

I notice a lot of people get hung up on how often the bully got stabbed. Trust me if you're in a fight and really feel that your life is on the line. you're not counting your shots.

I know I used to be bullied by my classmates growing up myself--a girl that was teased CONSTANTLY by the boys in my class. I was made fun of because I lived out in the country (most of my classmates lived in town) ; I was made fun of because my dad did farmwork, my mom worked at a Carhart clothing plant, and because of THAT, we made 'too much money' for food stamps, but still didn't have much, so I wore rummage-sale clothes. The only new clothes I'd get were at the start of the new school year, and while everyone was getting the brand-new clothes (all that money freed up due to food stamps/welfare checks--oh, the irony, being made fun of by cats who actually RECIEVED those things!) Oh, and because I was a 'late bloomer', I was also made fun of being skinny and flat-chested. In the 4th grade, one of the boys actually said I had AIDS because I was so skinny! I thought I had it, too, until I heard on the news you got it from sex. Knowing I wasn't doing any such thing, I stopped worrying. Yes, I was old enough to actually REMEMBER AIDS being first announced on the news!

Oh, and let's not forget the times I've been cussed out in the store for picking up and asking for Golden Grahams instead of grabbing the bland, gotta-put-sugar-on-'em-to sweeten-them' Corn Flakes, because they were the more expensive of the two, while watching the other kids pile on the good, yummy sugary, flavorful cereals on top of a cart-full(or insome cases two) of groceries...yeah, that teacher's comments brought back some flashbacks, okay?

What FINALLY got the knuckle heads in my class to leave me alone was that I got tired of being teased--the last straw being two guys in particular making fun of my dad and even IMPLYING that I was having sex with him!--for the past few years. We were sophmores in high school, and what I did was that I did a mule kick to his ass, with such force that i made him hit the wall, we both had our hands around the others' throat, and I was determined to squeeze the life out of him! Needless to say, we both got suspended, though it was known that they started it by flapping thier gums as usual!

Long point short, I don't blame the kid for doing what he did, esp. since kids these days are so quick to bring guns to school. He didn't know if he had such a thing with him, since he was better off than he was; maybe he figured he'd get him before he had the chance to draw one on him?

Well, this is a case of 'you deserve it'. Though he should have stopped before he killed the dude.
Personally, I think he should get into some kind of trouble in order for him to learn that violence shouldn't be used to solve problems.
That said, the penalty shouldn't be harsh.

A topic I posted about 2 weeks ago has some similarity of this: http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-746625/mom-asks-911-permission-to-kill-intruder

Basically, if ur life or someone you care about is in danger. Do what you have to do even if it means kill. Cause in the end, it's either you or them. Still thou, I have mixed feelings about this.

Note that the bully was not alone. though I bet his victim was.
