Nobody should have to live in fear. The fact that he HAD the knife meant that he was incredibly scared, he didn't think he was going to just get made fun of or shoved to the ground, he thought he was going to be attacked brutally by this kid. And guess what? It happened. He tried to get away and the kid wouldn't let him. So he defended himself. End of story. This wasn't something that happened in one day. People need to recognize that. The victim kid was so scared of his bully that he would avoid taking the bus or flat out skip school, and then on this day got off BEFORE his stop (if i'm not mistaken bus drivers in my state aren't allowed to let kids off the bus at a different stop without a parents note) just to try to avoid the bully. A kid lost his life and that's incredibly sad, but his actions leading up to this were heinous and he lost the right to protection from the law when he put the fear of death in to this kid.

I notice a lot of people get hung up on how often the bully got stabbed. Trust me if you're in a fight and really feel that your life is on the line. you're not counting your shots.

A topic I posted about 2 weeks ago has some similarity of this: http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-746625/mom-asks-911-permission-to-kill-intruder

Basically, if ur life or someone you care about is in danger. Do what you have to do even if it means kill. Cause in the end, it's either you or them. Still thou, I have mixed feelings about this.

to be honest, I lack full information. to have any opinions requires that I judge the two named actors in this event based on scant and probably biased information.

That doesn't change the fact that I hate bullies nor my thoughts that if you go out of your way to seek out conflict while outnumbering someone apparantly weaker than you... well Karma's a bitch.

Ye, most bullies gets their punishments and they will regret it later in life.

The only time I think I was ever bullied was maybe in 5th grade although it was just for plain fun, nothing serious. However, there are some serious consequence to the victim of bullying to him and people around him. This is one of the articles I've read a long time ago:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_of_Ryan_Halligan

Oh and that was based mainly on cyberbullying. The bullies later truly regretted this decision but that kid is never coming back no matter what.

Well those who experience bullying first hand, should know how difficult it is to recover (if thats even possible) from such a messed up trauma. I don't genuinely care if it's heartless, but that bully had it coming to him if he went around treating that kid like something under his shoes. People who look down on other people (bully's) are the real monsters here, even if he did stab the guy 12 times, the amount of anger and hatred he had for the bully was a lot, and when you're in THAT situation, it's hard not to control that frustration inside you. I hope all those bully's learn something from this (if their even aware that they bully like total douchebags).

I love it.

Dylan Nuno looks like a grade A douchebag and bully. Based on his determination to victimize a younger student rather than mentoring and providing help, this fuckface deserved to get shanked.

More than likely, more people are siding with the bastard named Dylan Nuno because bullies tend to have more "friends" - that's why they can continue to bully without getting punished. Had it been the other way around, where Jorge attempted to bully Dylan even once, then Jorge would have been punished because all of his fanboys would have created such a ruckus.

I hope the victim gets a full scholarship.

Based on the information in the article, it's a pretty clear case of self defense. The bully was assaulting him at the time, so the use of force was perfectly justified.

Some of you may forget that normal people don't start following people with a group and punch them in the back of the head. If you don't want to die don't do ridiculous things to other people or they might defend themselves. The guy gave them plenty of chances to stop, so anything he did after that is fine by me.

Some people even carry concealed weapons these days, giving even more reason not to mess with anyone. I bet the kid was ready to go all out against that bully if he even looked @ him funny.

Oh yeah that's why he did all those things to get away from it(confirmed by even the bullies friends). So he could shoot him when he looked at him funny. Not when he was getting beaten from the back.

Different cases are different.

He had the right to fight back and the stabbing is included with that but 12 times seems to be a bit of overkill. This is the less often heard result of bullying. Most common the kid either kills them self or runs away or ends up hospitalized. Now if only everyone else was willing to take a knife to these bastards.

I’m truly at an odds here.

Though I don’t condone bullying, there’s a difference between self-defense and unreasonable force. He could've gotten away with just one or maybe even two stabs, but 12? Surely the threat had been neutralized by then.

My sentiment exactly.. a bit extreme with the 12 stabs when 1 or 2 would considered self defense with the weapon being used...

Well, honestly, it looks like it was just self defense. He did go a bit far though, I mean he did not have to "nice boat" him. I believe after the 5th stab or so the bully would no longer be harassing him, so he could have just stopped. I do understand he was probably scared out of his mind though, and so that is why he may have kept stabbing. Really though, just standing up for himself without a weapon could have worked wonders. I was the victim of bullying in middle school. He was more of a class bully really, harassing everyone in class. I ignored it for the most part, but then one day I saw him bullying this girl after school. If there is one thing I cannot stand, it is bullying a girl (my grandma raised me to be chivalrous). So I knocked his lights out, no really, I landed a fist right into his face, and he just collapsed which is kind of pathetic really. From that day until I moved away 2 years later, me, the bully, and the girl became the best of friends. Now this may be a special case, but I think in general if you stand up to someone they will leave you alone.
