It was the first day of school. Rina descends down the steps of the porch of her house. She had a map of the city in her hands, and she studies it as she walks across her front yard.

Ty presses snooze on the buzzing alarm clock, groaning and rolling over onto his stomach.

Lilith was in class as always, bag hanging off the side of her desk, always too much too early, and fast asleep with her head against her desk, snoozing away in the empty classroom.

Matt was walking to school today, tired as hell and grouchy, unhappy that their break had felt like it had flown by and it was now that time of year where school started back up.

The map was easy enough to read, Rina had never been one to be directionally challenged. Coming to an intersection, she was patiently waiting for the cross walk sign to turn.

A thumping down the hall came barging through his bedroom door. Ty's little sister bounds over to Ty, jumping onto his bed.
"Ty! Wake up, Ty!" She shakes him vigorously with as much force as a four-year old can muster.
Ty lets out a fake snore, and rolls over onto his little sister.
She lets out a squeal, "Ty! I can't breathe! You're too heavy!"
With a smile, Ty lets out a yawn and opens his eyes dramatically. "Oh? Claudia? What are you doing here?"
"It's time for school!" Claudia announces.

Sometime later Ty got ready for the day and ate breakfast. His little sister, Claudia, was dropped off on the way to his school at her pre-school.

Lilith was still asleep, even as the young teacher walked into the room and began setting up for the class.

Matt had noticed a girl at the next corner and came walking up next to her, muttering under his breath "This light is always long as hell"

The girl looks over to her left to see a boy standing beside her. She thought he had said something but couldn't be sure. His uniform was the same as hers, only in the standard guy style. Feeling a bit dorky with a map of the city in her hands, she tucks it away in her jacket pocket. As she was nervously trying to conjure up the courage to say something to the fellow student, the cross walk sign turned, signaling that the walk way was safe to cross. With a little sigh of relief, she makes her way across the street.

Weeks of practice had resulted In his little sister mastering the art of riding a bike with training wheels. Every school day, instead of walking to and from school, they rode their bikes. It was their only other means of transportation, since they didn't own a car. Once arriving and chaining up his bike to the school's bike rack, Ty makes his way into school. He had to arrive early, as it was part of his student body president duties. While glancing over the list of things to do that morning before school started, he made his way to his classroom to set down his backpack and jacket at his desk.
