Post your DVDs here! I want to see how big people's collections are.

I try to buy pretty much any series that I really like. With so many options for watching streams legally online and more and more being licensed, people who pirate regularly are downright scum. The only excuse you should ever have for torrenting a fansubbed series is that absolutely no company has licensed it for an official English release, including streaming services. And even then, if you don't go back and buy it once it HAS been licensed, you really are scum.

Anyway... I've got the following entire series' and movies on DVD:

Kaleido Star
Kaleido Star: New Wings
Angel Beats
Fullmetal Alchemist The Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Summer Wars
His and Her Circumstances
Clannad
Clannad ~After Story~
Full Metal Panic FUMOFFU
Spice and Wolf
Spice and Wolf Season 2
Paniponi Dash
Fate / Stay Night
Kanon
The Count of Monte Cristo
Welcome to the NHK
Loveless
Air
Last Exile
The Slayers
The Slayers Next
The Slayers Try
Princess Tutu
Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl
Elfen Lied
Code Geass
Code Geass R2
Suzuka
Strawberry Panic
Le Chevalier D'Eon

And my blu-ray set of "ef~a tale of memories" is shipping soon.

I hate to say but my collection is pretty small due to not having a job due to this lovely economy we have. <Insert Sarcasm>

To date i own:

> Full Metal Panic! (BR)
> Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (BR)
> Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (BR)
> Witchblade (DVD)

I look forward to building on this foundation

I don't like buying DVDs, so I don't. You will not guilt me into it. ಠ ‿ಠ I do, however, only watch what is legally streaming.

I do buy manga:

A long time ago I used to buy anything I could get my hands on.
I ran into a lot of bad shows that way, some truly awful stuff that left me feeling like I had just thrown $40-50 in the garbage.

I learned eventually not to buy anything I didn't already know I would like. New Type was still being published in english back then and it often came with a DVD that had 1st episodes so that helped.

But when I discovered torrents it opened up a whole new world for me and I am very grateful to that. there are so many things I would never have discovered if not for Fansubers.

As legal streaming becomes the norm and am following suite but I am still grateful to the Fansubbing community for all their efforts over the years.

and I am still buying DVDs (and now I'm starting on BluRay combo packs). But I will never buy something I haven't seen and know I will like.

Fansubbers have gotten me to buy far more than i would have gotten without them and until EVERYTHING that comes out of Japan is legally streamed I will continue to be grateful that Fansubbers exist.

But I will take the legal stream over a fansub.....unless the legal stream is particularly awful.

(I have no photo of my collection to share, and there is far too many to list them all here. It dose have some nice gems though

Figure 17
Tweeny Witches
Gokusen
PaniPoni Dash
Animation Runner Kuromi
Moonphase
Kamichu
Lodoss War
Dai-Guard

I know those aren't gems to some people but those are some of the ones I am proudest to own.

and the Crunchy Daily Deal expands my collection in unexpected ways.

I have to agree on those points. Most of what I've (eventually) bought was from watching it on Anime Network OnDemand a while back, or through sites like this and Netflix, or from having it recommended to me by others and checking out a couple episodes online.

Those series that haven't been licensed over here yet, I have no problems with torrenting fansubs for, though I know a number of Japanese fans who wholeheartedly disagree with me on that. In any case, I always make a point to eventually purchase any series I torrent and enjoy that -does- get licensed, since I don't do torrent very often and many of them don't get licensed. I feel as though I owe it to the creators. An example from my own collection would be Angel Beats, as well as the ef~a tale of memories collection I have pre-ordered.

However, a number of my purchases were made with no prior experience with the series, such as when I found Loveless and Le Chevalier D'Eon on clearance at Best Buy a while back, and decided they looked interesting. Funimation's "S.A.V.E." initiative also brought about my picking up Gankutsuou and Welcome to the NHK without having seen them before.

I love the fansubbers who make series' more accessible before they get licensed, and increase the chance of an actual company noticing enough interest in a series to warrant licensing it, but I can't abide by people who continue to fan-sub after a series has been made available on sites like CR, ANN, NicoNico, etc, or released on DVD.

In some cases though a show is only legally available in the US. a Fan in England or France or Brazil still only has access to the Fansub version.

I do however have nothing but contempt for the blatant rips from the legal sites. If you are going to Fansub something at least do it yourself

I will tell you, you are lucky with what you have purchased blindly.

Me I found myself watching some Eva ripoff with Orgasm powered robots It wasn't a hentai but yeah....orgasm powered robots.....
