copy right issues, cr did have them for a while. its ganna be an on and off thing. if funimation got a hold of it first cr isn't likely to get it.

manga will always be continued. anime is done to make profit if they believe there will be any.

manga is easier/less expensive/less time consuming to make than anime. if the profits are good there is a good chance of an anime getting another season. think about how many animators it takes to draw each frame of an anime. the casting of voice actors, marketing, etc. its an expensive endeavor

Animes are usually a means for mangas to get publicity. This is why it's common for animes to have an open-ended ending so we can find out what happens in the manga. But like wolfsaiga, said CR did have old animes before the site became legal.

Licensing issues. CR can't host series that have been licensed by other companies. The license, granted by the copy right holder, gives these companies the right to distribute the series.

Crunchyroll hasn't overlooked desire for older anime:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/fist-of-the-north-star

The few Gundam shows CR does have is mostly by luck. Sunrise or Bandai wanted to promote Unicorn, so they decided to put up several core shows to aid in promoting it (SEED is comparably recent, so it wasn't selected). They intended for it to only be temporary, but that turned out to be a bad decision (and/or found the benefits of gaining attention through them to be great) so they kindly put the shows back up for much longer. Seeing as that SEED just got a remastered Blu-ray release in the making, I don't expect it to be streamed anytime soon (not impossible though, might use 4:3 SEED to promote 16:9 SEED).

Crunchyroll came into its current form mostly to solve fansub issues around newly released anime. So CR was founded upon current anime, and current anime is their core objective. Their funds are finite, so they will target doing as many simulcasts as possible vefore anything else.

They're not ignoring older shows, but their funds limit them. They would need more Premium members in order to afford more shows. You too can help out, and make it a bit easier for them to get more shows

Fist of the North Star and GoLion are old too, and they're on CR.

You really need to look at the lineup of animes here before making that statement.

o no thats wasn't what i meant at all. once every year or two, sunrise try to do a publicity cuz as good as gundam is its needs more publicity and to fall for old series would be money.

they give rights out to some sites. and last year cr got it for 2 sets of 1 month or so. i finished gundam wing for the first time on cr like 2 or 3 years ago well after the legal switch.

cr, does try to get old anime. but because of funimation and bandai distribution in america its becomes hard because if the cr gets rights it screws them over. so anime company can pull this over funi and bandai once in a while. if its like a month or so. kinda like how cr does 5s/cm and and other 2 movies yearly. except that much shorter.

everything was on cr back then, its was literally the biggest anime bank in history. no site had more content then cr. not even youtube, veoh, megavideo, or myspace combined and 10x over. i would add hulu to the list but i don't think it was popular back then.

just saying it had zoid fuzors in 7 different languages. and anything on tv would be added on in a week. the mass amount of moderater takes it down but someone puts it up within days.

but still, its still a fun site.

The first part of my post was just a personal observation. Hahaha, it had nothing to do with your prior post. I just agreed with you in the cr having old animes before. I was a member already when it had all those anime titles. It had animes I didn't even know about or that was hard to find in other sites. Plus the players had really good quality. Yeah, those were the days.... I agree that CR is still a fun site but it was more fun back then.

I think the part wolfsaiga was reacting to more was the "before the site became legal" portion of your comment. The "on and off" nature he mentions of older series is that most companies give shows to CR under a temporary contract. Sometimes the rights holders are looser with adding shows out of motivation to promote something. Sometimes older shows have to come back down because the contract expired without renewal.

Crunchyroll in its original form was illegal and couldn't get money to the creators. That was not their will but moreso out of necessity. A solution was found, and now they can benefit the people we're all fans of. Crunchyroll in its current state is superior to its former state because we as fans owe it to show our gratitude to the things we like, and we can do that better now.

Ok thanks for the clarification. CR is better now, if you look at it objectively. I understand why it had to follow all those copyright issues....but what I meant about it being good before was more of a subjective thing again. I mean I don't experience the benefit of the site because most of the shows that they stream here now are not available in my country. I know the reason is because it's too costly to spend licenses on those regions. I don't mind it if it means keeping this site alive. I never really bothered reading up on the contracts and such, because like I said I don't get to watch the good animes anyway. Sorry if I replied quite subjectively and misunderstood anything.....
