Those that said this article is stupid and quitting school is stupid....is stupid

You only live once, why be confined to the ideas that others implement on you, especially if the ideas are stupid.
Hell most athletes didn't finish high school, yet they make millions a year.
My friends dropped out of college (yr 11 in Australia) to become tradies (plumbers, workers etc) and they make 50,000+ a year.

I agree with the article that school is getting boring for both students and teachers.
Hell, i learn more on a boredom run on wikipedia than i do in class.
But i don't think about quitting school, especially since im in year 12.
I'm really in it for the social aspect. Like they say, Ignorance is bliss.

Its true that the paper will open roads for you, but...just marry a rich woman.

You have no shame at all, do you? Where's your dignity?

/agree with Gatto..

I quit my senior year, .5 credits needed to grad. why? Because it's bullshit we have to be churned through this system.. "it's better to graduate and get your *insert bullshit credentials here*" Yeah, I suppose if you reply every command with "BaaAaa".

Then there's the whole school after you finished school which you have to pay copious amounts of MONEY to attend.. Or of course get student loans (usually government loans.) at a high interest for a degree?? I know a lot of people in my class who did graduate and go off to higher learning, about 5% succeeded.. the rest partied their college away and or graduated and have yet to even take advantage of the diploma or degree they've earned.

For the people who say it's impossible without a degree/diploma? My mom dropped out young, age 16 if I recall, started a business and did very well for herself. My dad, an immigrant from Mexico came to the U.S. not knowing a LICK of english, Got his papers and started working. created his own business following my in my moms steps (they were already married) and was NETTING over $250k a year.. not counting my moms income.. So my point? Ambition. Yeah, it's no doctor/lawyer and they worked super hard to earn what we now own.. but to say it's impossible? Stop writing off your skills and try applying them to something other than a piece of paper that says you're qualified. Cause if that's the case, it will be like that for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. (granted my parents did grow up in better times.)

What I did learn in high school is how to entertain and educate myself because of lack of interest in the material I was presented.. Once I came to this understanding, high school seemed pointless and just about was, other then the social aspects and classes I enjoyed.

Note I will leave; Some, if not ALL of the greatest wealths in the world were gained without higher schooling[my speculation]. i.e. Bill Gates (someone Gatto didn't mention)

Ambition people, you're more then a piece of paper.

I honestly just skimmed though the reading since I can get what this topic is saying. Sometimes I wish I would switch to homeschooling, but I actually like being in school. I think school builds up social contact, and can distract you from out of school problems. It keeps me doing something and I rather do something than go on the computer all the time, and look at the screen everyday doing homework, because trust me online schooling doesn't look fun or interesting. Without school, people would be arrogant, dumb, and be easy to be taken advantage of. I'd like to be the opposite of those things, be independent and know how to do things, thank you very much. I see school as an opportunity rather than thinking that it's nothing. So many people who don't take schooling and college are bound to want it when they don't have much money. It's better to know than know nothing.

Although the promised land is out there, no single path exists. Find your path and travel it well. But know this, success rarely comes with ease. Even on the right path, the test is can be brutal.

I'm not quite sure if it's the same with everyone else, but high-school is the place where I can actually be alive. Sure, classes are difficult and homework is frustrating, but I mean, it's bearable . My friends back me up and I love them~ Without them, it wouldn't be all that fun. In my opinion, I think the good outweighs the bad~ ^^

You're such a rebel. You're so cool. Too cool for school.

OMG Way too long........Okay.......HERE I GOOOOO! *Dives into the ocean of text*

EDIT: Whoa........Barely survived. I couldn't read it all, but I hate school too (my sister does as well). Why does education have to be so boring?! I visited a college while they were having class, and IMO it's not that different from my high school. How dull!

Yeah, but in college you can argue with your teachers.

If you do that in high school, you're just 'that jackass.'

In college? You become 'that cutting edge thinker.'

Oh! That sounds nice, but is it still dull?

it stresses me out too much, i force myself to do good on tests and get all A's and when I get a low B on a quiz i freak out. TOO MUCH STRESS. I'd rather quit school and live in someone's basement with internet, food, and a bathroom. ;p

"College Degrees are Killing the US Economy"

Personally I didn't have time or money for college and I quit halfway. About half my friends stuck it out and finished, with various engineering degrees and such. With the ever-increasing living costs everywhere, they are now rewarded with...not being hobos. I guess college is still worth it for some people.
